Once I sat down and watched a few videos of what this can do I was able to programme the buttons to do exactly what I want in an office environment. From setting out often repeated text to starting the programmes on the pc each morning and moving the windows to my preferred positions it can do it all, The Streamdeck has so many uses.

The unit is a decent weight so it does not move about your desk when it is touched. The buttons are responsive. it is of good quality.

This little box of tricks is amazing, I am not a streamer but the things I have added to this stream deck just to save some time with work related stuff is invaluable, it’s saving me so much time. the possibilities are literally endless., I keep finding useful stuff to do with it, and the latest update has made it even more amazing, don’t hesitate, you may think you won’t use it much but you absolutely will, I would miss mine so much if it wasn’t there now.

I use my desktop to control a bank of radios and other electronics and I wanted to streamline the workflow. After reading about the StreamDeck, I decided to give it a try. Elgato was running a promotion with quite a generous discount, so I went for the largest version. It is quite simply excellent! It is a very flexible and versatile device – you can spend a lot of time getting it fully configured for the way you work. I don’t think I’ll ever sit back and say “That’s it!” – the configuration will continue to evolve to match my changing activities and work patterns. But I would already miss it if I had to give it back!

First of all, I’ve been putting off getting a stream deck for a while. I’m glad I did because when I saw this Atomic Purple I knew I had to get it! The color is perfection, so nostalgic without looking cheap.

Getting it set up on my PC was so easy. Just download the program for it, plug it in and you’re good to go! The only issue I had (seen in the first picture) is how difficult it was for me to plug the cable into the device itself. There’s not much space inside to get your fingers in, and maneuvering the cord to get it in the right place took some patience for sure. Not everyone will have such a hard time, I’ve recently been having issues with my hands and fingers. I have lower dexterity in my fingers occasionally, and today was one of those days where I just couldn’t do things like normal. Imagine someone with arthritis or limited mobility trying to put this together. I managed after about 5 minutes of struggling, but my issues are minor compared to others out there. Not very accessible in my opinion, which is a shame..

Additionally, I saw a few reviews stating the box was opened or they clearly received a returned item. The seals on my box were definitely broken, but the box was so hard to open, I don’t think mine was a return. The seal just looked like something wrong with how it was attached maybe? Everything was in order inside once I did get it open, and there was no evidence of it being opened or used previously.

Overall, I’m happy I waited literally years to jump on one of these. This purple is incredible and the device is fairly easy to use and set up. I’m excited to use it to it’s full potential!

Love it!! But hard to plug in..

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersReview Update: Addressing the “Open Box” reviews: I ordered 3 of these units, and 1 of them, the seal stickers were not in the “new” condition. Upon opening my box, I could personally see that the contents were not disturbed. I then tested a theory: After warming up the glue on the sticker with just my finger, I was able to slide the sticker around. While I cannot speak to any other reviewers experience, I can attest that the glue on the sticker is a problem in my experience.

I absolutely love this beautiful Stream Deck! I already have a few, but this one stand out all by itself.

Stream Decks are awesome tools for all kinds of things. You can control not only OBS for recording or livestreaming, but you can control other software like Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro, or other popular editing software. What else? Lighting, smart home control, PC volume, media control, windows desktop layouts, application launching including steam games, Spotify, audio mixing software and so much more through plugins available from the Elgato market place. Customize your keys with premade icon packs or even make your own icons!

I truly am a fan of Stream Decks and Elgato in general. I love them so much that I this is my 6th deck (I also have 2 pedals) and I have blessed dozens of steamers and channel moderators with these versatile tools. All but 1 of my products or purchases has been trouble free. I had one USB port issue after a few months with one pedal and Elgato took care of it right away with a replacement.

I absolutely love the Stream Deck XL. My only regret is buying the 15 key Stream deck first instead of just buying this. So many keys it gives you great control for your stream. You can perform some real magic with your stream once you get to grips with it but also the basics are super easy like changing scenes. Solid design and responsive keys. Good for other applications and use except streaming such as video editing.
I couldn’t live without it. Love it. Maybe a bit expensive but worth the money.

This is a really handy addition to my desk, with lots of commercial and community support, but the action of the buttons is not nice — they need to be pressed in the middle to go down reliably, which is not the quality of key press I’m used to (low-level keyboard geek — I know what switches I have). Also the required force means the thing slips back a little when using the top row of buttons. It’s not cheap so I’m a little peeved, but I’d buy it again so whatever I suppose.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this for my daughter so that she doesn’t have to remember to hit multiple buttons or find the right button when using OBS.

I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to set up and with all the integrations that are available, and since the SDK is open, I have started to add a couple more integrations that will make her life even easier.

I wasn’t sure on which device size to get, I went for this one on the balance of “value for money” and glad I dis, the device can be set to jump to other pages on a button, so in effect it’s limitless for the number of buttons you can assign, stuck forward, back, and home on each page and you really don’t need a bigger device.

This also allows you to have pages set aside for specific apps or specific sets of actions, you don’t need everything on a single screen, it’s pretty neat.

The decide looks great, the screen is bright and clear and the buttons don’t obscure apart from where they’re supposed to.

I might pick another some up for myself since it’s a very useful device in general as I stated at the start, it’s not limited to being a control panel for streaming video.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great tool for broadcast or general productivity

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersSpoiler alert. This device is awesome and invaluable if you regularly use different Mac and PC software programmes, especially for editing audio & video.

You can stop there or read on for a bit of a story and the actual review – your choice.

    The story

This device sat on a shelf for well over 12 months. It was a compulsive purchase based on a video I watched on YouTube and possibly at the end of a night out with friends, erm

I had almost forgotten about this purchase, not because it wasn’t of use, I just didn’t think I needed it at the time; my mistake!
    Let me explain

As mentioned, this was an impulse purchase because it looked cool and I told myself I’d use iteventually.
It must have struck a chord of sorts because I was sure to buy the upgraded MKII version with a detachable/replaceable USB cable.

    I didn’t use it.

Jump forward 12 months and video editing is now a main focus and keyboard short cuts are all the rage. As my editing skills develop and my editing frequency increases and as ridiculous as this sounds (it did to me when I heard other editors say it) multiple key short cuts were becoming a pain in the backside and in particular the blade cut and delete (yes, Final Cut Pro X on the Mac) Enter the Elgato Stream Deck.

    The Review

The Elgato Stream Deck is a fully customisable macro keypad that allows you to set single key inputs for what would normally be multi-keyboard/finger short-cuts e.g. ctrl+cmd+arrow up to lift a clip from the timeline in Final Cut Pro, is now a one button press and with a nice vibrant pic displayed on the very smooth LCD buttons to boot. More on that in a bit.
This little device works across a variety of apps for both Mac & PC and not just editing software. It also comes with Elgato (via download) free software for optimising and customising the macro keys and shortcuts.

This is a super tidy unit (specs below) and well built. It won’t take being bounced off the floor, but oddly enough, that’s not its intended purpose. The main icon panel can sit directly on your desk or in the angled case. The USB cable is attached under the unit, but flat and right angled so that the unit can sit flush with your desk regardless of preferred set-up.

The 15 macro key version I have sits just about right for my needs at the moment, but you may wish to look at the 6 or the much bigger 32 key versions, depending on your own needs. I will say that after finding out just how useful this piece of equipment can be, I am looking at the 32 key version for in the not too distant future.

As an example of the speed of work flow, I’ll use another FCP application – I have the mouse on the right and the Stream Deck on the left. I select the point I wish to cut. Press the centre macro key and then press the macro key underneath its it is set to delete. This finger/thumb quick action is so convenient and time saving.

The LCD keys are also customisable via the previously mentioned Elgato software. This option also allows you to assign set functions to keys and also assign an icon. A pleasant surprise was that there are loads of free icons available in the Elgato icon library. One of my main hotkey shortcuts is for YouTube (yes, you can assign URLs to the macro keys too) and there was a YouTube icon in the library along with multiple community created ones, which for the most part are great! There are even animated icons if you want them, but I personally prefer the static icons, but it’s your choice.

The next pleasant surprise was that you can set different profiles or ‘pages’ of icons for the different software you are using. If you are jumping from Premier Pro to Microsoft Office or Final Cut Pro to Light Room, then you can set up you own pages, hotkeys & icons as you wish which equals fantastic versatility!

All good so far, so now a couple of minor gripes

Every once in a while the unit won’t boot up properly, but this is pretty rare.
The angle of the stand is great visually, but for my (left) hand it’s too steep at roughly a 60 degree angle, when half that would have been much more comfortable whilst still allowing you to see the icons. You can take the unit off the stand and as you get more used to and with more frequency, you won’t even look at the buttons. This is the best way to go in my opinion, but again it’s nice to have the option of stand or no stand.

One last note and this is nothing to do with the unit; I would suggest you learn some main/most used keyboard shortcuts before you use the Stream Deck. Reason – if the deck stops working in the middle of an edit and you don’t know/remember the actual keyboard ones, then you’re stuck. Again, this is unlikely, but worth considering.

On the whole an awesome and effective idea, executed fantastically by Elgato.

    Side note:
Elgato have also released the + version which features 8 macro keys, a touch stripe and dials, which can be incorporate into a streaming set up. I cannot comment on that device at the moment, but perhaps in the future

    Specs:
    Size: 11.8 x 8.4 x 2.5cm without stand
    Weight: 145g
Connection: USB 2.0 (cable is roughly 1.5 metres)
    Stand angle: Approx. 60degrees
    Materials: Plastic

5.0 out of 5 stars invaluable if you regularly use different audio, visual & office software on Mac & PC

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersWhere has this been all my life? The difference this makes to my workflow is phenomenal..
Its easy to set up, the interface is stable and intuitive and you can program it to do nearly anything you want on your PC.
    I`ve been using it with:-

    – Normal Windows tasks and shortcuts.
    – My D.A.W.`s (Digital Audio Workstations), e.g. Ableton Live, Acid Pro 8, Music Maker.
    – Flight Simulation software, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, FSX, Aerofly and others.
    – Many Steam Games.
    – Calibre, (editing Book metadata etc).
    – Accessing favorite websites.

And these are just the things I`ve thought of so far.. Basically if you can do it with a keyboard, then this unit can do it with a single button press, its a macro button unit on steroids.. You can store shortcuts, websites, key combinations or sequences under each button, You can use folders to extend the number of macro`s/buttons available in a profile, you can store different profiles, and you can even play games on it. The device is aimed at streamers but can be used with virtually any windows software to create single button shortcuts.
The device is well constructed and connects via USB 3, it has a USB 3 Type 3 female jack on the actual unit and is supplied with a good quality (replaceable) lead to connect it to a USB 3 Type A connector. (I`m told it will also work on USB 2).
The display is bright and adjustable and can be configured in detail. In addition to button programming or configuration, you can choose what icon each button shows, the font can also be changed.
This is a Highly recommended piece of kit for anyone who wants to increase their workflow, whether they are a streamer or just a normal PC user.
