I’m loving this purchase! To upgrade my radio system would cost me much more and this looks amazing! I have a car from 2009 so this is an amazing upgrade
Only reason I’m not giving 5* is because the radio doesn’t seem to work
I’m quite happy with this product compared the to 9′ but it states that it has android play and mine doesn’t seem to have that software. Can someone help me just incase it is stored somewhere else on another menu. Many thanks
Used it the day after it arrived and it reset itself twice during the journey. Waited a few days and used it again but it reset itself 7 times on a 20 minute journey so was ready to send it back. Instead I reached out to customer service and I’m so glad I did. It was the charger that came with it that was at fault. They sent me a new one and it’s been working perfectly ever since.
I would recommend this screen as it’s very easy to set up and use.
The device’s Android Auto worked really well and was easy to set up with my Samsung phone. Essential maps such as Waze and Google Maps was easy to use when using this device.
Got this its plug in & play its great does what it says & hands free phone you dont need to touch screen just say hea google ask it anything even directions love it & big screen maps
I’ve got a slightly old car so was amazed when I found this and has let me put on Apple Car Play along with having Waze and cameras too! I’ve not installed the reverse one but the front one works brilliant and it comes with a 64Gb card! I’ve so wanted a camera which is of course so useful these days! Comes with all the connectors, two way to mount in the car (see pics) and can also hook to your car stereo too, how great!. It’s touch screen and that’s a lovely size and great quality. Very happy, now I can have maps and music in my old car! Nice!
I bought it mainly for camera recording and also to use it as a display for the Google maps navigation. It connects well with no issues and the camera work as expected. I like the split screen feature, so you can view a few things without flipping between the screens. One thing that is not the best is the speaker – the quality of the audio is not the highest if you wanted to listed to music only but otherwise works fine. So far so good!
I was sceptical as I’d seen many of these advertised and was dreading ordering a unit that may be lagging. We’ve been very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the kit. The colours are very crisp, connection is quick and seamless, the sound quality from the internal speaker isn’t great but we’ve connected it to the vehicles Bluetooth and it works really well. It’s easy to use. The dash camera won’t win any awards but it’s good for capturing accidents, I was surprised to learn the reversing camera also doubles as a rear dash cam once installed.
My car doesn’t have a infotainment screen so got this to try and really like it so far.
Couple options available for mouting the screen as one may not work on your dash but another mount will. Was fairly easy top setup and comes with good instructions.
Use the 12v for power and when powered on is very simple to connect your phone.
Maps works very well and Spotify too which is the mains reasons i needed one.
The large screen is especially good for maps, i thought it might be too big for my dash but actually is spot on. Good quality picture too.
Can connect the sound to your car speakers which is obviously better than the in built speakers but they are there just incase you can’t.
Front dash cam is very handy to have and good quality, I haven’t tried the reverse camera yet but seems easy enough to install.
I recently purchased a 2013 Merc C220. It’s navigation display is pretty small with outdated VGA graphics. I bought HOTPEAK 9” A-pple Carplay Screen for Car with 2.5K Dash Cam,1080p Backup Camera from Amazon. Received the item the next day. This is really a cool product. It comes along with front and rear dash cam. I recommend this for drivers who wants to upgrade the car display. Easy to use, with both Apple and Andriod phones. Connects well with my adroid phone. It has got in built speakers. Sound is pretty decent and clear. I have started using this from last week onwards. It’s going a well. Overall, its a good buy.
These inexpensive CarPlay screens are brilliant; anyone that owns a phone and drives a car should get one of these if the car doesn’t already have the functionality built in, if only for safety reasons. This unit from HOTPEAK seems to be very well made, although it’s quite heavy which could make mounting a challenge, more on that later.
Setup is easy. If you’ve not used Apple CarPlay before (I hadn’t) just follow the comprehensive (but microscopic) instructions provided, and you’ll be up and running in seconds. Most of the clever functionality is down to Apples CarPlay not this particular device, although it seems suitably responsive to the touch, although swiping sideways between screens was sometimes a bit hit and miss.
When it comes to mounting the screen in the car things are a bit up and down, depending on your car.
What is annoying is that all these manufacturers of in car devices seem to think that every car dashboard is perfectly flat, and they provide robust but flat mounting brackets and suckers, that simply won’t stick to a curved surface. In my case in my Nissan Pulsar, there was nowhere flat to use the adhesive mounting bracket, so I had no choice but to use the sucker windscreen mount with its inherent limitations. The extendable arm of the windscreen mount doesn’t really extend far enough, so for my “average” Nissan Pulsar hatchback the sucker has to sit quite a long way up the windscreen, which then reveals a design fault with the built in dashcam camera.
Since the camera in this screen is central, its view is obscured by the windscreen mount, which pretty much renders it useless. See the attached video. If the extending arm had been longer, that would have made the bracket more horizontal and less in the way of the camera. The screen also wobbles a bit despite sitting touching the top of the dash (it’s too heavy to be fully supported by the sucker mount).
Some similar CarPlay screens have the dash cam camera mounted off to one side; however, on closer inspection many of those are designed for a left-hand drive car, so the dash cam would be on the passenger side in the UK which is not ideal.
Unless you have a car with a perfectly flat dashboard which you can fix the adhesive mount to, then forget about using the built-in dash cam as it will be hopeless. Just focus on its Apple CarPlay abilities, which it is very good at.
Having decided that the mounting options in my Nissan Pulsar were less than ideal, we then mounted the HOTPEAK screen in our son’s Ford Fiesta and things were much better. Unlike my Nissan, the fiesta does have a flat horizontal area in front of its tiny central screen, and the adhesive bracket for the HOTPEAK CarPlay unit fitted there perfectly. It did mean that the cars built in screen was obscured but since many of its frequently used functions were replaced my the CarPlay screen that didn’t matter. If access to the built-in screen was needed for setup purposes, it’s possible to peak down the side of the CarPlay screen or slide it out of its mounting. Also, the dashcam works fine without the windscreen mount to get in the way.
We also connected up the rear camera and that works well, son is delighted with having a reversing camera. It’s a pity that the rear camera does not record however, so it is NOT a rear dashcam.
In summary, the HOTPEAK is a well built unit that shows off Apples CarPlay functionality very well, however, in common with most of these screens, success is very dependent on the shape of your car’s dashboard.
Did not know these things existed and had tried 3 different bluetooth adapters recently as my car does not have bluetooth audio, all with poor results.
The HOTPEAK CarPlay screen has solved this problem and many others with one easy setup.
Everything was well packaged and had all the necessary cables, mounts and adapters needed for easy setup. On powering on, it went straight to the main menu, CarPlay selected and I was connected with my iPhone in minutes. From there I just had to set audio output to aux and hook up to the aux in on my car.
The screen is big, easy to see and is pretty responsive, far far easier than touching a tiny phone screen when you want to skip tracks or get sat nav up and running.
I have been using it for my daily commutes for the last 4 days and it has so far worked perfectly, It boots up quickly and automatically connects with my phone every time. Satnav works perfectly as does YouTube music , the 2 main things I wanted it for.
As I dont have a dash cam, it was also a welcome addition and initial impressions are very good, super clear recording and it automatically starts without issue. I have yet to install the reverse camera and undecided if I will yet but having it included in the box is a plus.
What I love about it is that I can just keep my phone in my pocket and this screen just powers on and handles everything automatically, music, dash cam, sat nav and calls/messages all in one convenient screen.
So glad I found it!
I wanted a upgrade to my head unit as it’s running an old android version, for the price I thought I would try this item and replace my dashcam also. The device is amazing with both Android and iOS carplay. Really impressed with the screen. As you can see I installed it above the original head unit and the dash camera is excellent in this position, the screen is crystal clear, and you can adjust the brightness. It comes with everything you need, power cable for car 12v, mount for screen or adhesive panel, rear camera and lead, instructions, SD card. Instructions are great and Bluetooth connectivity to your existing head unit is really great for car stereo speakers.
Instructions are really good and it doesn’t take long to understand. I was actually impressed with the sounds going through your car stereo if you choose a frequency too. I have kept with Bluetooth. The screen has great viewability and touch screen is really responsive. Perfect for Sat Nav and App based music streaming. Highly recommended if your current screen has bad visuality or lacks mobile car play features.
I’ve been meaning to get something like this ever since I got the car (5 and half years ago …) and was leaning towards replacement android head units but they’re upwards of 300+ and there’s always people saying ‘don’t get that one, not enough memory’ etc… so I went for this.
Very easy to install, as you can see you get loads of bits and pieces to attached either to the dashboard or to the windscreen. A word or two of advice – I’ve used the windscreen attachment as my dashboard isn’t flat, and the dashboard attachment is quite big and I didn’t want to waste the sticky pad.
If you can’t see the dashcam, it’s because you’ve put the windscreen attachment on upside down – make sure you mess about with the various toggles to make sure the screen is as rigid as possible! It is quite a heavy screen as well so make sure the dashboard is adding that stability.
In terms of connection, very easy, just be aware that your phone may have Android Auto settings in the main bit of your phone, but individual apps (such as Jet Audio which I use) have extra setting for Android Auto in the app itself. For example, at first I couldn’t see my playlists but that’s because Jet Audio has the options of what you can view in Android Auto in the main app.
I only really wanted to use Jet Audio and Waze at the same time and it does that perfectly. One thing I would say is, I tried the Aux Out option for the sound and there is a small whining noise – however, I’ve had that with pretty much every car I’ve had, so it’s the peril of having a 13 year old car where the earth connection isn’t perhaps as great as it should be – I have an iPod in my car as well, and I’ve had to use a device that sits in line with the audio cable, so this should be expected really.
Having said that, Bluetooth audio is excellent so I’ve used that. Connection wise – nothing at all to do, once you’re paired, it automatically starts all the audio, maps and connections as soon as you switch on – even the music starts if you want.
The dashcam feature I haven’t really tried as I already had one (which my wife will pinch shortly), but again, it just works and even comes with a generous 64gb memory card which I didn’t realise. I also haven’t connected the reversing camera as I’ve got no idea where to attach it – probably a ten minute job for an auto electrician, but I’ll keep that as an added bonus for later for now.
Well impressed with this, no issues at all. Just one thing to bear in mind, it can be tricky to fully tighten up the holder when it’s in position, and with the extremes in temperature that happens in a car, they can become loose. Obviously you don’t want to over-tighten and break anything. Just check the twisty bits are all tight for the first few days.
I was so impressed with this car screen kit. The screen is crystal clear, and you can adjust the brightness. It comes with everything you need, power cable for car 12v (it’s a C adapter which is handy as you can power it off a powerbank if you need to) , mount for screen or adhesive panel, rear camera and lead, instructions, SD card. It really doesn’t take long to understand the functions as the instruction book is a decent one. You can have the sounds go through your car stereo if you choose a frequency too. It is robust and decent quality, touch screen is very responsive and the graphics excellent. This is great for sat nav instead of using the small screen on your mobile. Overall I am very impressed as it comes with so much extra you wouldn’t expect. Highly recommended
