Bought this for a young child who is showing some interest in photography and he loved it. Took many pictures on it and the rolls of paper didn’t last long but easy to find replacements. Image quality depends on the lighting but all in all it was a fun well received gift.

This camera is great fun for kids. It is really easy to set up and use. It comes with an SD card which is great as you can access your pictures later. The print quality of the pictures isn’t bad given the price of the camera. The battery life is great, especially as there are other features such as a video mode, games and Music. Overall a great value camera for kids.

This is a great option for budding photography enthusiast kids and the ability to instantly print your photo allows for a level of gratification that’s often missing from modern photography. It’s retro I guess but provides a delightful experience for youngsters. The print is a little bit grainy but given its thermal paper and the cost of producing the prints is not significant, we couldn’t be more thrilled with it.

My kids absolutely love this instant print camera. It’s so easy for them to use, and they enjoy seeing their photos print out instantly. The camera also records HD videos, which is a nice bonus. The creative functions like filters and frames keep them entertained for hours. The included SD card has plenty of storage, and the battery lasts through long play sessions.

Colour me impressed. This camera with built-in thermal printer has a great form factor aimed at slightly older children. The crucial thing is, it prints instantly and produces some of the best thermal paper printed reproductions I’ve seen on such a device. You can’t set your expectations too high given the technology but I was impressed even with suboptimal lighting conditions. There is a little bit of banding but the detail is great.

There are lots of templates and you don’t have to print a photo immediately, you can just take snaps. One thing to be wary of with the templates is that it doesn’t compensate for where the photo portion will be so you need to position yourself and frame it accordingly.

The buttons and navigation system are not that intuitive but you soon get used to how to operate the thing. In fact when taking photos you have a button on the back and the front to suit your style of operation. The front button is more “camera-like” but also easier to use when taking a selfie. Selfies are aligned using the domed mirror plate a bit like some of the original camera phones.

The clear display gives you access to other applications too such as video, music and 4 games! The whole thing chirps along too when turning on and off and using the camera itself. You can adjust the volume in the settings as well as change various other settings too relating to how it prints.

The kit comes with a lanyard that has a neat detachment mechanism operated by a push button. There is a charging cable so you can use a standard charger, charging port or power bank. It also comes with 6 tiny felt-tipped pens. You can use these to colour in the print outs and whilst they do take to the smooth thermal paper they smudge very easily even if you leave it for a long long time to dry. Colouring on the back of the paper is more successful but kinda defeats the point. Talking of paper, you get 3 rolls in the kit that should keep you going for a while but you can easily buy more as it’s standard size.

Overall this is an entertaining device that I will resist calling a toy because I think it has good utility for a creative young person. It feels well-built and should last.

Note: I have reviewed two of these devices and whilst they are listed as different manufacturers are both were identical (other than colour) and came in the same unbranded box. I could see no difference at all between them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, entertaining and well-buil

Ever since my daughters starting using thermal printers via their phones, my son has wanted in on the action. He’ too young for a phone, but can take a mean selfie. With this child friendly camera, he’s able to take a variety of ‘interesting’ snaps and then print them out in seconds. You have to be discerning with what to print, as there is only a limited amount of thermal paper, but you can find and purchase refills when required. This part of the camera is simple to use, and the quality of the print out is fine. It’s not as high quality as what is sisters are able to print, but he doesn’t care.

The only main downside is that, as this is a kid’s camera, it comes with a tonne of other features – games, and ways to further edit your picture via borders, effects, and squiggles. These can be quite fiddly and not the most intuitive or user friendly, to the extent that we haven’t told my son that they’re included. He just wants to take the pics and print them. The camera is sturdy enough for clumsy hands and you’ll be able to wipe it clean without much issue.

This camera is amazing as a gift for the creative young person. It’s easy to use and looks great, but it’s also a good choice for developing your skills and exploring new ways of creating images.
Don’t be fooled by the bright colours and plasticky case: it’s a genuine camera for stills and video, as well as a playback device for mp3s and video files.
The lens is a fixed type so all the zooming mentioned in the listing is done digitally, just like a smartphone. That means the quality drops significantly the closer you zoom as you’re actually zooming in on the image you’re seeing not the object itself. As a point and press camera however it’s fine, and as 99% of the pictures we all take are snaps it’s going to do most things asked of it.
It’s easy to set up and the buttons and menu are pretty straightforward. Younger users will probably need a little bit of help at first but once they’re familiar with it they’ll be able to get going on their own. Taking photos and video is simple and you just compose the setup in the lcd screen on the back and then shoot.
You can add a variety of filters afterwards and you can also save the images to the SD card and transfer to other storage options.
The main appeal for youngsters is going to be the printing option. It’s essentially a thermal printer just like the ones used in cash registers, so the picture comes out like a receipt with a black and white image on it. The pictures on the listing are misleading however as they appear to be actually B&W photos but come out more like line drawings. They’re quite good as a novelty but they’re not photos. A group of friends messing around with it will have a good time printing out pictures of each other, and it’s a lot cheaper than the actual instant cameras that are available.
In the box you get three rolls of printer paper, a strap, a micro SD card and some felt pens for decorating the pictures once they’re printed.
For the price I think it’s a smashing idea for a gift and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a different present for a young person.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe were impressed with this little camera, but how would our 13 year old granddaughter find it? Read on:
Before turning on, you notice it is a nice lilac colour, but the plastic case does feel a little low quality.

When it is turned on you are greeted with a little melody, this can only be turned off by lowering the volume (but then shutter sound is also muted). Navigating the menu is not intuitive and takes some practise. Fortunately, to take a photo you only need turn on the power, select camera (press OK) and you can use the shutter button on the front of the camera to start taking photos straight away.

It is supplied with a 32gb SD card, and so the images are stored on that for later use, or you can make a black and white printout of the photo. By changing the print settings, you can get very nice little black and white photos. We tried it with a roll of Phomemo sticker paper and it worked well (so no trouble with replacement paper)

There are lots of fun features in the menu, including filters, games, video record and playback and even an MP3 player. But it’s strong point is as a camera for a youngster – and it does this job very well. Our granddaughter loved it and is looking forward to trying it out with her friends.

    What we like
Reasonable quality full colour photos (where light is good) that can be transferred to your computer for later use. (see last photo taken with the camera in low light)
Nice quality black and white ‘instant’ photos on demand.
Turn it on and start taking photos straight away.
You don’t have to print every photo.
    It records video.
It has a zoom feature (press and hold the up or down cursor keys)

What we were not keen on.
The quality of the 8mega pixel photos is not as good as most phones.
The case feels a bit plasticky.
    The tricky menu navigation.
Poor low light performance (very grainy)

Those points aside, we love this little camera!

4.0 out of 5 stars A cute little instant camera that is a fun introduction to photography
