This is a fun game for all ages and the quality seems decent enough – strong magnets and a nice carry bag. Fortunately, it’s pretty obvious how to play the game as the instructions are totally unintelligible. Written by an AI from the planet Zog.
This is a great travel game to play. Easy to understand and get straight into. Would be good as a party game too. I wouldn’t advice getting it if you have a dog though. The magnets make a load high pitch sound when they clatter together. It really upset our dog when we tried playing the first time.
I ordered this game as I was going through a non-electronic game phase with my kids. Chess and backgammon were successful enough but this game pretty much won hands down.
The dismay and elation hits you in equal measures as one wrong move clears half the magnets off the board and into your pile. Making you jump as though you are wired up to the mains.
The set itself is pretty good quality. The magnets are solid, smooth and with round edges meaning you don’t get hurt or stabbed when you shuffle them about or pack/unpack the game. There is a piece of string like a shoelace which becomes the game area. Mine was a little frayed when it arrived and I think we lost a small amount of the play area (which my wife says is why she always loses) but ultimately it’s a fairly good size which makes the challenge of where you place your magnet a nerve racking manoeuvre.
The box it comes in is cardboard and it has a felt drawstring pouch to keep everything together.
I have to keep it away from other games and all electronic equipment as they are each relatively strong magnets which could easily damage watches, tablets, smartphones etc.
The games are relatively short in length and never fail to bring a smile.
I also have to remember that the pieces are small (approx 10-15mm in diameter) and easily swallowed by the very young. With that in mind we only played with ages 5 and above.
Delivered in a great little carry pouch. Easy to understand and a big hit with children and adults. Kind of reminds me of chess, checkers and buckaroo! We have had hours of rainy day fun with it make sure to take it with us when we travel.
I love how the magnetic chess game offers a fun and stimulating gameplay that promotes logical thinking and hand-eye coordination. It’s a great way to keep kids engaged and away from electronic devices.
