This is super stuff for a cleanup after a dusty ride but you might want to wash off heavy dirt or mud. For general cleaning it does a really nice job and brings a shine to bodywork. It’s especially good with oil spots, brake dust and fading mud guards. Spray it on, leave it for a bit and wash it off and job done. Good value and effective.
I was surprised by the effectiveness of this foam when I tried it on mucky car cills.
A quick squirt, then a wipe down with an old cotton sock, and they were gleaming.
It’s a job to know whether it is good value until I find how long the can lasts, but I am impressed by its performance.
Washing my bike of motorbike is always a bit tidies task that i am trying to avoid at all cost but this foam makes it a bit simpler. Once sprayed all over I leave it to soak for few minutes and them get into cleaning. fresh dirt comes off immediately, older harder dirt needs a bit more time. After that rinse and job done. sometimes needs second pass or extra rubbing in but otherwise good to use
This foam cleaner needs a good shake before I use it to foam up right, and I’ve used better nozzles in the past, but overall it’s pretty good. It works best I find for cleaning light dirt or spots on specific areas (like results of inadvertent seagull attacks), as really spraying and wiping fairly soon after gives the best results, stubborn marks seem to need a few sprays. I’ve used it on the textured lower plastic parts of my car door cards as well and it does a pretty good job of cleaning them up.
It does leave a bit of a sheen to plastics so I guess it has some sort of silicone in it? I can’t be certain of that though.
Overall it does the job as I would expect for a foaming cleaner.
On a bike that’s only a little dirty it works really to lift the dirt and when wiped off, leaves a nice shine.
If you use this with too much dirt then it does an ok job but I would recommend rinsing the dirt off before hand.
On the other hand, this is great for removing grease stains, brake dust on the calliper, making mud guards look newer and leaving the frame nice and polished.
I was never going to have truly amazing results as I use it on an e-bike that sees a lot of off road trails with every type of terrain from shallow streams, rocky areas, inches deep sludge, quarry sand & dust, I mean you get the idea. Basically it goes through everything and as it’s probably gonna be doing the same thing the following day, I often don’t see much point giving it a full clean.
To sum up, though this does leave your bike looking clean and polished; including the tires.
I love having a nice clean car and motorbike, I actually quite enjoy cleaning my car myself, however I always find the tyres are never finished to a professional standard and it really makes a difference. This however has really upgraded the look of my car and tyres by creating that glossy look to the wheels and trims of my car.
It is easy to use and apply and gives great results, I was a bit worried about using this on my bike or car without water first with the worry of scratching, I did wipe my paintwork down first because even if the foam doesn’t scratch, a bit of dirt can.
I feel the price is really reasonable and gives great long lasting results.
I love this stuff! After a good shake (a very good shake – treat it as some exercise), just spray it on, leave it for 10 minutes and then hose it off again.
I only use it on the frame, rather than any of the oily bits, but it is sooooo much easier (and lazier!) to use than a scrubbing brush and soapy water.
This ‘foam’ cleaner actually sprays like a polish with a bubbly greasy consistency, even after vigorously shaking the bottle for over 30 seconds.
The fact that I sprayed this on the e-scooters to see how it works (in a non conspicuous area just incase) on the metal wheel guard and the bottom of the frame, it didn’t actually disappointed me.
I wiped the excess off the frame and arch first with some kitchen roll then with a micro fibre cloth and it did lift the dirt off with no water needed.
This is probably something to be cleaning outside as I have found out.
When I’ve sprayed the frame, because it doesn’t spray like foam, some particles have landed on my tiled floor in my hallway. I wasn’t aware of this till the scooters had been moved and because its left no residue on the tiles.
To call the floor an ‘ice rink’ would not be an exaggeration and ill definately clean the scooters on the patio outside in future!
Pros
Good Water-Less Foam Cleaner .
I used this on My E-Bike . ( with Battery Removed ) .
Should clean the bike a number of times as this is a Large ( 500ml ) Can.
Good if there is a Hose Pipe Ban.
Shake Well before Use.
Cons
At Nearly the Cost of 2.5 Pints of Lager in the Pub, this is Just OK Value for Money.
It’s that time of year again, the hubby is pulling his motorcycle out.
He’s used this to clean his motorcycle and it’s worked really well. He did say it smelt a lot like WD40 so was being a little careful with it.
It works though and does what it says. A particular grubby plastic on the tank, spray on, leave for a few minutes until the bubbles/foam fades and wipes off. Very clean and does look really good. It shines.
He tried it on some other parts of the bike that had green algae creeping, and while it did help move it, those are going to need a bit of a scrub with the brush and jet wash.
Never the less, it would be ideal for a quick cleans and polish during summer. Considering this was the first clean of the season it was good to see how well it worked.
It’s not for your deep clean routine, but certainly something to consider if you don’t readily have access to a hose pipe, or indeed if you get hit by a hosepipe ban in your area in the summer months.
I’m not too sure what to make of this stuff. I was expecting something very foamy. Even after excess shaking of the can, the foam levels were hardly there, unless going over an area a few times making sure to depress the nozzle quite hard, then the results seemed better. By doing that though, you’re not going to get a whole lot of applications out of the can, which is a decent size to begin with.
Did it do the job and work, yes. But the bike wasn’t that dirty to begin with, so maybe this is best left for a quick touch-up between the times when it requires an in-depth wash, like after a muddy session. In that situation, I don’t think this would be worth using, especially with the limited foaming factor.
For the price it isn’t excessive, but maybe the formula of whatever is in there needs to be revisited. If they can get that foam level up, I think this would do well in more extreme dirty situations. Listing what the main and risky ingredients are contained in the can might also be a good idea!
I have used foam spray cleaners before and thought I would use this to clean my bike down
I found it was a bit thin when I first shook and sprayed it. So I shook it even more vigorously and proper foam came out. Though it started breaking down way quicker than other foams I have used
I moved onto cleaning and polishing. The end result was good
I must admit that I am particularly lazy when it comes to cleaning my vehicles and do not complete this task anywhere near as often as I probably should. Life’s short and a bit of dirt never hurt anybody!
Given the above I wanted to try this spray from DrDownPipe to see if it was any good and made my job any easier. The answer is yes, and no.
For the areas that are easy to reach this cleaning spray does seem to work relatively well, though there’s not much of what I would call a snow foam about it. For harder to reach areas you really do still need to be able to hose the bike down, and the can does also stipulate that there are areas you should not use the spray (brakes for one).
While it did clean my bike sufficiently for my needs it’s not perfect and if there is any well embedded dirt on the bike it just won’t get it out. The bottom of my fairing behind the front wheel is a good example here. It’s ‘relatively’ clean but there is some dirt that’s been there for so long it’s almost part of the bike now.
If you’re just buffing up the visible bits of the bike then I’d say this spray will do the job. If you’re looking for perfection you will need to use this spray in combination with other products.
