This is one of the best webcams I have come across. Arrived in its branded box, nicely and securely packed, this is a very well made webcam. Overall, it is a bit smaller than I expected but it has lots of brilliant features and an excellent audio/video quality.
Installing it was super simple. You just plug it to you computer via the standard USB type C cable (included) and your computer should automatically detect it and install any device driver required via the internet. It was ready to use in literally seconds. There is a light indicator at front of the webcam that turns green when its ready to use which I think is quite handy. I also really like the AI features that allow this webcam to follow you around if you are moving while presenting and also hand gestures to lock or zoom in and out of the video.
I also like its design and use as its easy to place on top of the monitor screen or wherever needed (it comes with a mounting clip). It is quite small in size and therefore fairly lightweight too. It also has a cool design that looks sleek and stylish. Lastly, I think it is rather expensive but given its quality, design and features, it still offers good value in my opinion. I have been using this now for a couple of weeks and so far so good.
All in all, very pleased with this tiny yet powerful webcam and would recommend. Have rated it as 5 stars.
Ordered via vine. Admittedly when I ordered this, I had never heard of OBSBOT and before I had the chance to do any research I assume this was some lesser known or perhaps a small chinese brand. But I very quickly discovered that OBSBOT is in fact a very well known, established and reputable brand.
They specialise in this very high end specialised “Web Cams”, and this is a new Lite edition of the similar looking even more expensive and feature rich OBSBOT Tiny 2 that has already been released for a while.
I use webcam in inverted commas as whilst you can use this as a very good webcam, it is not a basic or traditional webcam, it can do so many things has countless applications, with the emphasis on it being extremely small yet very high spec image quality, AI technology and countless features that make this actually quite a specialised item – which I did not realise at first.
And when I did watch some videos and do some research out of curiosity BEFORE the product arrived, I found absolute positive and critical acclaim everywhere, not a single bad or even neutral review.
And to be honest, although i’ve tested the features, this is designed for things like video conferencing, streaming, or various forms of professional recording, I am well aware of the capabilities of this little thing, though I don’t have any professional or work-related use for this.
However i’m still perfectly happy using its Ultra HD 4K Resolution & 1/2” CMOS, HDR, light correction etc etc as a very good Webcam, for Whatsapp Video, Facetime and other video calls.
So I honestly don’t need utilise the gesture features, auto zoom and focus, though i’ve played around with them. Nor do I have any need for the AI tracking for the time being, however the only feature I would have liked to see is Windows Hello Face ID support, for logging in, passwords and verification. Although considered the type of device this is, I can understand why this wasn’t implemented.
However with its dual Omnidirectional microphones, it has basically replaced my laptops integrated 720P webcam and microphone array – which is terrible in comparison unsurprisingly, so it’s an absolutely huge upgrade over that, and it’s so versatile I think I will have some additional uses for it in the future when I upgrade my entire laptop system to an intel NUC i7, since it can so easily be positioned or easily attached to all sorts of mounts, even upside down with its 300 degree rotation.
I don’t really deserve such a good Camera when at least for the time being i’m not utilising all of it’s advanced features, nonetheless this is incredibly versatile for a broad range of applications, that other prospective buyers will find very useful and practical.
It’s build quality is fantastic, I was not expecting it to be so compact and small, yet it’s made with high quality materials, I very much like the black design with the large contrasting dark red surrounding the lense and obviously is very portable.
It was originally at 200, which normally i’d say sounds expensive, but in this case and considering both this and its older big brother the 300+ OBSBOT Tiny – Nobody had a bad thing to say about them, and various tech websites that I initially read spoke extremely highly of both items.
Although I am very much into technology, specialised Cameras of this kind are not something i’m an expert in to be making judgements on value for money. And since then the price has reduced to 152 anyway. So I would have said, you get what you pay for, any i’m not sure OBSBOT even needed to reduce the price whilst selling many units, so needless to say @152 this is even greater value and I have no doubts about that.
The listing also shows that the brand in general, and the very similar non Lite edition has won a huge number of awards, and recommendations from various tech magazines, others expert sources that review and rate this particular market of “High end Specialised Webcams”, so this review and rating is absolutely my own, and impartial. But it’s quite obvious that this is a fantastic product overall, and that OBSBOT is industry leading. Additionally it offers a 2 year warranty and 24hr support, although I think with such high standards, and quality control that any issues are unlikely. But it’s reassuring to see the brand stating that “Your satisfaction is paramount at OBSBOT. Thank you for choosing OBSBOT!”. I’ve reviewed all sorts of items that say similar, and it’s not a guarantee by any means of aftersales support, but in this case again I’m very confident that is the case.
So, whilst I admittedly haven’t fully or extensively commented on every single feature in this review (there’s a lot), everyone’s scenario and setup varies… But based my testing and all of the above, I will “OBSolutely” be giving OBSBOT 5/5 stars for this product, and its one of the most impressive and reputable products i’ve rated and easiest 5 stars i’ve given in a while.
The camera is incredible it is ai powered and follows you when moving and does all the autofocus as you move forward or back. The microphones have a great clarity even when you are not so close it it and i just find it amazing with quality of the camera. Great value and would highly recommend it.
In terms of outright performance, this beats most tracking webcams without a doubt. Crisp image, audio as if you’re in the same room, and tracking controls are second to none.
Looks really sleek in the office as well, has a funky shape and style that looks more appealing than blocky ones.
It’s a very tiny package but it’s packed full of quality and great features. Working from home I’m not likely to use some of the more advanced features as my space is small but I took it into a larger room to try the tracking, voice and gesture control. All either very impressive or promising with practice. I can see how this would be a brilliant camera for demonstrations, speeches and much more. For those at home like me there are also features like Desk Mode and Whiteboard Mode through their app.
This is no ordinary web cam that just gives a one direction field of view. Using this on web calls and Zoom type calls lets you move around and the camera follows you. So no sitting still. Its motor is silent and doesn’t seem to be picked up by the other party. Audio is perfect according to people who are viewing me.
Its size is in the description and for a motorized camera is tiny. It’s light weight so doesn’t weigh down what’s it attached to.
It is not an easy camera to connect, by that I mean it’s not plug and play and it’s not it a cheap item.
It has lots of features that if you will be using it for serious, commercial, professional type reasons this is a great webcam. If you just need to sit and chat with people it may be too sophisticated for your needs.
I am really impressed with this web cam. It’s packed full of features that I hadn’t seen in any other web cams I’ve used in the past. With is being AI powered, it really makes a difference, such as the face tracking and the gesture controls. The camera captures colours really well and sound. The quality over previous web cams is very noticeable. I used this with my Mac and didn’t have any issues with connecting or using it and that’s always a relief. Yes, it is 180 but I think this is a fair price for the features of the cam which are packed into a small camera that does so much.
This really is surprisingly small, although with ‘TINY’ in the name, there were definitely clues. But small doesn’t mean weak – great image quality and colour balance. The auto framing and focus are spot on, and it works first time and every time with the Windows laptop. Not the cheapest of course, but you do get a LOT for the money.
Streaming and video conferencing have reached a new level with this 4K webcam. The AI-powered tracking keeps me perfectly framed, no matter how much I move. The dual microphones ensure clear audio, making conversations smooth and natural. Low-light correction and HDR features enhance video quality, even in dim conditions. This webcam’s performance is reliable, and the gesture controls add a futuristic touch to everyday use.
This is a lot smaller and more compact than it looks in the pictures and it works super well! I have used it with a MacBook Pro and it was super easy to set up. Balance is great and the focus is spot on. Overall love this and whilst it is quite pricey I think it is well worth it. Not heard of this brand before but the quality is spot on!
The OBSBOT Tiny 2 Lite has very good video quality at up to 4K/30 (also HDR option) and its AI tracking is excellent, when it doesn’t throw a wobbly and stop, or decide something else is more interesting!
I downloaded the OBSBOT Center software for PC, which also updated the camera firmware when ran for the first time. The software looks as if it would be more at home on a mobile device, rather than a PC screen, but is sensibly laid out and provides a great deal of user control over the camera.
Audio from the 2 inbuilt microphone capsules is excellent compared to the average webcam, with several levels of automatic noise reduction — provided one has a recent generation Nvidia GPU in their PC. (recent generation AMD GPU users have a very good noise reduction function included with the drivers) If the camera is used for streaming, rather than conferencing, a dedicated microphone should give better audio.
The camera is provided with a 5 feet USB C to C lead, a USB C to A adaptor is included, consideration should be given to location of the camera with respect to PC / Laptop to assess if a longer cable is needed.
In use: I’m afraid my experience using this camera has more negatives than positives, OBSBOT have implemented AI tracking in the camera, which tracks subject movement, and can also focus on members of a group when they approach the camera, this works very well most of the time — provided the ‘stage’ is very well illuminated, and actors are not fast moving, tracking is generally good, although, for me, the tracking would often stop altogether, or wander off to ‘look’ at static objects not in the intended frame, randomly.
The camera, when set to tracking mode, will more often than not ignore settings made by the user and switch between view modes (wide, normal, narrow, zoom) to whatever the inbuilt AI has decided the user wants
With the AI functionality for tracking etc. switched off, and plenty of light on the subject – there is a HDR option that, when enabled, can improve picture quality in lesser lighting scenarios — image quality is very good at 4K and 1080, focus is good and able to adjust quickly if moving an alternate subject into close view (product demo manner). The user is able to manually control ISO, shutter speed and white balance if so desired, Basic colour grading functions are also provided.
I didn’t have sufficient lighting for successful green screen videography using the OBSBOT Tiny 2 Lite, which was unfortunate — but feel that, with a more ‘professional’ studio, it may be perfectly useable in this scenario.
Criticisms aside, it may just be that my use, and its intended use, are at odds with each other, so I shan’t be too judgemental. The AI function may be perfect for Zoom calls etc, where a solo or group presentation, under very good lighting, is planned.
Integration with OBS Studio is good, with the camera functions able to be accessed from the camera controls built in to the software, naturally, the OBSBOT software needs to be running to access the AI functions.
As mentioned, video quality is very good, audio, for a webcam, is great, AI tracking is ‘interesting’
The OBSBOT Tiny 2 Lite has not been a great success for me (hence no video to illustrate its function / quality) but I am quite prepared to put that down to my intent and the camera designer’s intent not aligning!
Although most newer laptops come with integrated Webcams my old machine and my desktop don’t have this function and I’m increasingly in need of such a device. Testing this seemed like a good chance to come into the 21st century. I also think that this camera would be much better than the fixed cameras in most laptops.
The camera is very small and light and I haven’t included any pictures because its just like that shown in the listing.
Its connected through a USB C connector or USB A connector using the included adapter. The lead length is about 150cm. An instruction manual is included.
The camera has a 1/4″ tripod mount on the bottom, which is useful. Mounting to the top of a laptop with the clip is a little odd and I wasn’t too sure of how reliable this would be. You have to flip the tripod mount down and sit the camera on the lip of the laptop screen. There’s a small groove underneath the camera that the laptop screen should sit in. Then you fold the tripod mount plate down the back of the screen to trap the camera on the top.
My desktop screens are quite thick and I couldn’t get this camera to grip on top of the them – just sit on top.
I connected this to an old laptop and a modern desktop machine both running Windows 10 and it worked straight away without the need for any drivers. My USB ports are only rated at USB 2 speeds and this was not a problem.
I tried it with both OBS and Skype. There is mention of their own sofware called OBSBOT, which supposedly provides more control or configuration of the camera. Unfortunately this didn’t work – no video shown from the camera and constant crashes.
The video quality is excellent but I found the microphone sensitivity not that great and the audio came out a little muffled. Maybe some tweaking could improve this. I did notice quite considerable lag between actual movement and that on the screen. For conference work this may be a minor problem.
****Edit: I’ve since discovered that the issue with the microphone sensitivity is due to a Windows 10 problem which many people are experiencing. You can over come this by installing a program known as APO Equaliser which allows you to boost the microphone sensitivity.
I tried the camera in different lighting conditions and again it worked very well.
The focus and framing tracking worked very well. There are some gestures for getting it to start tracking and zoom control. A little tricky at first but eventually I got it to work reliably and consistently.
A general observation about webcams and not specific to this one. If your sitting in front of a large screen its difficult to position a camera so that you look into it and also see what’s on the screen at the same time.
In summary I found this to be a remarkably good video webcam. At the time of this review its listed as 179.99 which seems a little on the expensive side to me.
You get a neat little box with an even neater, tiny cam in there (see photo for scale, I was rather weirded out they could put so much in such a tiny package).
The cam itself is super easy to set up, juust plug it via USB C, windows grabs the drivers, and it works off the bat in all of the usual suspects, from the cam app in w11 to zoom and the like, and the image is simply beautiful, nothing at all like any webcam I’ve seen before, even the expensive plug in ones.
The problem is that, to really use the part that makes a difference, you need to get the proprietary software, and well, that is not good.
Not only it keeps tickling varied security programs, but the interface frankly sucks, and having a controlling overlay over everything, especially one I don’t trust, is not the way to go especially since I’d use that cam for 90pct work, in a really confidential field.
So I’ll use the cam, but hobbled without the software, though I’ll see if there is some open sourced version that enables full function. Utter shame
Great little camera to work from home and be visible to other colleagues on calls. Works on teams and Zooms without issues. I didn’t try any other platform, but seems resilient. Clips easily to the top of monitors, or could stand on a surface. Just plug in using the USB C connection and away you go. Comes with instruction book, but is very simple to use, comes with a tracking & zoom feature which are very easily activated. Auto sleep mode if not used for a set length of time.
I’ve had a few webcams now from the OBSBOT brand and each one has been nothing short of brilliant with this ‘Lite’ version being no different and to be honest I fail to see the lite moniker hear as presentation, materials, fit and finish and quality are all that of a premium product that performs so much better than the built in version on my MacBook Pro with tracking and backlit performance perfect. For my use the tracking and hand gestures are not really needed for general webcam meetings but would be handy if I start to do video reviews
Its proof you really do get what you pay for and despite its tiny size packs a massive punch
I spend a considerable amount of time on conference calls and you know what, I’m looking forward to them next week
This webcam is so lightweight that when mounted on the lid of the Surface Pro or the HP laptop, it doesn’t start causing the lid to close.
I really like how when not in use, it nods off to sleep, facing the lens downwards and keeping the dust off it
The base is ready for a tripod type of connector or flip it open and there is a nice clip to attach it to the top of your monitor or wherever you wish to mount it.
Now when it comes to the normal faffing about with installing software, you don’t need to here, no messing about with drivers, I’ve used it with both Win11 and Win10 and both times, it’s how plug and play should be
The quality of the picture is really excellent and it has a strong lens as my face hasn’t broken it so far
On conference calls, it’s so easy to use the tracking, fixed and zoom modes
Very impressed and a lovely device here, really like i
