This steering wheel lock arrived in a cardboard box. Inside the box was polystyrene protective packaging around the steering wheel lock, plus 3 keys. The lock is made from heavy and strong alloy steel in a bright yellow colour, with a black rubber handle, and black plastic over the end that attaches to the steering wheel. The size ranges from 13.7 inches to 15.9 inches. It is a T-bar design meaning the one end fixes over the steering wheel, and the long shaft rests on the dashboard preventing the steering wheel from being moved. There is foam on the inside where it touches the steering wheel, so this foam will prevent any scratches on the steering wheel. The lock cylinder is made from copper and is located on the end that fixes onto the steering wheel. It comes with 3 keys which is great in case you lose one.

To fix the lock onto the steering wheel, insert the key and open the lock, place the one end on the dashboard and the other end around the steering wheel, and then push the lock closed until it is tight around the steering wheel. There are several locking points that click so it can be adjusted depending on the thickness of the steering wheel. To open the lock, simply insert the key and turn it, then open the lock and remove from the steering wheel.

This is a really strong and tough lock made from thick metal. It takes seconds to attach to the steering wheel, and is easy to remove with the key. I like the foam protection around the steering wheel. I don’t know how easy it would take a thief to remove this, but at the very least it would slow them down and cause them to make more noise. Hopefully I will never have this lock tested on my car. It can be fitted to steering wheels on cars, vans, or trucks as the locking end opens to various widths. Definitely recommended to increase security to your vehicle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality super tough metal steering wheel lock for all vehicles, recommended

The lock was well packaged in a nice box. It is well constructed and has a good weight to it. It comes with 3 keys which seem okay – not the most robust but not too flimsy either. When you unlock it, it springs open the clamp which goes onto the steering wheel. Once attached you push it together again, however this isn’t very smooth and does require a bit of fiddling to get it right. On my car if I clamp it closed all the way, it leaves marks on my wheel from the clamp which isn’t great, so I have to make sure its not clamped all the way – not sure if this is compromising the security aspect of it or not. Overall, its fine and does the job, and at a bare minimum acts as a deterrent.

This is absolutely brilliant for my donkeys years old landy. I used to have one of those circular locks on the wheel but it was damaging the steering wheel materials. This is much better.

It is so easy to get on and off it shouldn’t be understated! It is the handy yellow colour to be seen from a distance. I also really liked the tiny circular key hole too. Which doesn’t lend itself to a screwdriver and the hole is so small I can’t see much getting in there. Also you don’t need a key to lock it, just shove it together. Really loving this, it is freeing because it is so easy to use, and not so large I need to store it behind the seat and faff on getting in and out.

    Thumbs up x5 here.

I find this steering wheel lock quite impressive. At first, I struggled a bit to quickly learn that the lock can only be installed on the wheel in a certain position, as I have never used such a device before. Once I straightened the wheels on my car, I was able to install it in no time. The jaws of the lock open pretty wide, so I think it would accommodate any size of steering wheel. The lock itself where the keys goes in, does not look like a standard type either; it has a unique shape, so hopefully, it is not straightforward to pick. This should definitely act as a good deterrent for any opportunists trying to take what is not theirs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong and not too heavy, easy to install.

This is a pretty decent lock for the price.

It’s not overly heavy, so won’t be a pain fitting and removing it when required. That said, it’s weighty enough to do the intended job.

The inner grip does have some padding to protect the steering wheel’s cover, and should avoid marking it when the locking mechanism is closed.

It shuts on a ratchet-type of closure, and this is where the lock may or may not fit ‘exactly’ as required. This really depends on the thickness of the steering wheel itself, and you may find that the ideal grasp-action is between clicks. Closing it up tighter ‘may’ mark/damage the wheel surface, and the next click out may not be as tight as you would like.

There’s no real way of knowing until you’ve actually tried it out, but even if you leave it at the looser setting, it’s still a deterrent… both physically and visually.

It’s a good lock for the money, and I’ve seen identical models at a higher price.

    On a quality/value-for-money basis… 5-Stars.

If like me you are worried about the ever increasing car theft that seems to be rife these days, then anything extra you can add to make your car less easy to steal is always going to be a good thing. Hence when I saw this wheel lock I was keen to try it out.

First impressions are good, the lock comes well packaged and has 3 keys included with it. Its quite light weight, but it looks fairly sturdy. It measures around 35cm when closed. Inside the shaft there is a steel pole which the jaws are attached onto.

Setting it up is as simple as putting the key in to unlock it, and then pulling the jaw back and slotting it over the steering wheel, push it back together so it grips the wheel and then turn the key to lock it again. This then sits on the top of the dashboard and makes turning the wheel pretty much impossible.

Once its attached it feels nice and secure, and there would be no way you could drive a car with this in place.

Obviously for the price this isn’t going to be the worlds most difficult lock to break, but the shape means it will be fiddly to cut through in the confines of the drivers seat, and it would certainly take a few minutes even with a powerful power tool, minutes that would likely make a thief think twice and chose another car instead. Being bright yellow also means its easily visible from the outside, so this in itself is likely a good deterrent.

Overall for 16 I think this is great, if you were looking to steal a car and there was a choice of one with this lock and one without, then I think it likely you’d go with the easier option, and for this I think its very worthwhile getting given its not expensive and could help save you being in the situation of losing your car.

Considering this device is only 16 I’m very surprised at the overall quality, good design and ease of use. My wife much prefers as its much lighter and easier to apply to the wheel than a full wheel lock type. Takes me seconds to put it on. Other nice feature is when unlocked it springs open so you simply turn the key to unlock and remove, no pulling or sliding. Lock quality is rather good also, security key that fits and turns easily. Well constructed, doesn’t look like a cheap lock and when engaged makes it almost impossible to turn the wheel. It could be argued that against an angle grinder or determined thief it can be defeated in a short time but why would they bother with the noise and hassle when 99% of all parked cars I see have no physical defense from attack. If I had reviewed this without prior knowledge of the price I’d most likely have said this would have cost more. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good for the price
