It’s been interesting to test of this budget thing-finder, the Quig Caoqing air tag. I appreciate the fact that is is waaaay cheaper than the proprietary brand, which at the time of writing is approximately 3x the price per unit. This little beauty is currently on site for 29 for two, PLUS a 10 off voucher, making it 19 for two, or 9.50 per unit! You can’t argue with the price – not least because it also comes with a keyring and setting that allows you to easily attach to things right away. This is something additional you have to buy with some other brands.
Anyway. This is compatible with the IOS for the apple universe so it’s perfect for iPhone users. It doesn’t locate things to an extreme degree – like if it’s a jeans pocket in a washing bundle you’d get directed to the laundry but not to the exact placement (although you can make it make a noise at that point). For this reason I feel it’s best suited to things like suitcases and backpacks than it is to things you’d usually keep in the house (ie remote control).
I found it easy to pair and work with, and I’m not particularly technical.
Five stars. I think I’m going to buy more.
Before going further, please be reminded that this device only works with Apple iOS, not Android.
The set comes 1 black and 1 white airtags. The tags are in 1.5 the size of a 50p coin and in flat disc format. It didn’t occupy much space, ideally tagged on luggage, carrier bags, or any valuable items. The installation of the app is easy through the app store. Pairing is very smooth and I can then start to use the app to find my tags. They are certified on Apple Find My app. I tried to locate my item after the installation and it is very accurate.
In terms of privacy, I am very satisfy with it. It didn’t store any location data and history. If I lost the package with the tag and I turned on the lost mode, It will prevent other user to pair with this tag which is another feature I find it useful. Battery is CR2032, it stated that it will last for 12 months and replacing it is simple and easy. In case I lost my tag together with the item it hooked with, I can activiate the feature ‘notify when found’, it will then share the contact information with the founder to get in touch with me asap.
The tags are simple and easy to use. I tagged one to my partner’s car key as he keeps on finding his key all the time, he finds it very useful.

I’ve owned the genuine Air Tags and was very interested in testing this budget version of air tags. These air tags have a simple design, and they are are easy to set up, just exactly like setting up a normal air tag. These air tags do not feel as solid as the Apple Air Tags but the performance is similar. However, just like other third party air tags, these QING CAOQING air tags do not support ultra-wideband (UWB) precision tracking technology, so it cannot precisely tell the item when it is within a few feet. However, it is still working well as I can still play the air tag sound to locate the item. These air tags are priced at 42.99 at the time of review, and cheaper with a 10 voucher, which I think is good value as they are much cheaper than the genuine Apple Air Tags.
Effortless One Touch Pairing
Setting up the QING CAOQING Air Tags was incredibly simple. Using the pre-installed Find My App on my iPhone, I added the Air Tags to the Items tab in just a few taps. The pairing process was smooth, and I appreciated the ability to customize each tag based on what I was attaching them to, whether it was my keys, luggage, or bag. Note: These tags are only compatible with iOS devices, so they won’t work with Android.
Lost Mode for Added Security
One feature I particularly like is the Lost Mode. By activating the “Notify when found” mode in advance, I can ensure that if I lose an item, anyone who finds it can see my contact information and get in touch with me quickly. This mode also locks the Air Tag, preventing it from being paired with any other device until it’s returned to me, adding an extra layer of security.
Long-Lasting Battery Life
The Air Tags come with replaceable CR2032 batteries that are supposed to last up to 12 months. The Find My App also allows me to monitor the battery status, which is very convenient. The Good:

Highly recommended for budget-conscious travelers
Pairing with the Find My app is seamless, making setup quick and easy. The tags provide reliable tracking for various items like keys and luggage. The replaceable battery is a great feature, lasting up to a year and ensuring longevity. Privacy features are robust, preventing unwanted tracking. The included keyrings are a nice addition, making it convenient to attach to different items.
I’ve been using the Apple AirTag for nearly a year now, but I have wondered if they are worth the premium over cheaper alternatives. This has been my first foray into other brands and I have to say I’m impressed.
The tag itself works much the same way as the official one — it’s easy to pair and then track when needed via ‘Apple Find My’. Like the official one, I do find this a bit temperamental sometimes as I live in the country where there are less signals to bounce it off, when it does connect the direction does guide me accurately.
One particular downside is that these are a fair bit larger than the official ones (even when you attach a case) and so this wouldn’t be something I would recommend on keys for example. On larger objects such as a suitcase, this is much more convenient and feels secure when attached.
Overall, I still prefer the AirTag as I can find a 4 pack on offer for the same RRP as 4 of these would cost, however, if you were only interested in 1 it would be a good option (especially if the extra years warranty was important to you).
Firstly these are not Apple Airtags they do however perform remarkably well considering their budget price which is roughly a third of the price of genuine airtags from Apple.
They don’t feel quite as robust as the real deal but as I plan on using these in luggage when travelling I feel they will be up to the job.
They only work with the Apple Find My App but as soon as you switch tem on they are detected and pair straight way with the app. You can rename them to something meaningful to allow easy identification.
They are powered by a CR2032 battery which is readily available and easy to replace just split the 2 halves.
What they lack in comparison to the Apple Airtags is the UWB (ultra wide band) which allows you to refine the search area dow to a few square feet instead of a few square metres they do however play loud noises so that if you are within a few metres of it you should be able to locate it.
Overall not as refined as the genuine article but once you consider the price then they become a lot more attractive.
Item received in good condition in a nice branded box. You receive four air tags, two black and two white. When you touch and feel them they are a little larger than I thought and the protective cases they are in are ok, not brilliant but they do the job. They are maybe just slightly on the flimsy side.
In terms of instructions and connecting them they are very easy to set up but you must have an iphone for them to work as they utilise the Find my feature which is good as it means you don’t have to download yet another app for these to work.
They work well and giving you a map they put you within meters of your lost item. OK so with the apple version you can fine tune it even further but I think these do a more than good enough job of locating down to a small area.
For the price of them compared to apple air tags I think this is a very good alternative that will work very similar and keep your items found.
