The Razer BlackShark V2 is a very good wired gaming headphones with a similar look and feel to the Razer BlackShark V2 X, but come with lots more customization features. They have a detachable boom mic, come with a USB sound card, and can access Razer’s Synapse 3 software, so you can customize their sound and adjust their microphone settings, though we don’t test these features. That said, while they have decently neutral audio reproduction, they can perform differently depending on their positioning and placement on the head. Although they don’t have a very versatile performance out-of-the-box, their robust customization features are ideal for PC and PlayStation gamers.
Bought this headset to use with the included USB soundcard with my PS4. I can confirm it does work BUT the volume is at about 40% (even going into the playstation settings and putting it to 100%). Sounds great on my PC but only acceptable on PS4. Will likely return for a better compatible PS4 headset.
I bought Logitech G PRO X 2 LIGHTSPEED Wireless and returned it next day as the MIC was poor.
I decided to go with the razer as reviews were good. Although cheaper than the Logitech, the product is better. The MIC is one of the best if not the best for wireless headset. The sound is also pretty good. I bought the Wicked Earpads and I can’t hear anything. The immersion is great. Synapse software is alright. Watch some youtube EQ settings to get the best of the MIC and sound.
Highly recommend this headset for Gamers that don’t want to sell a Kidney for each products but still want quality.
The Razer BlackShark V2 Pro headphones have completely exceeded my expectations. As an avid gamer and music enthusiast, I was searching for a headset that could deliver both outstanding audio quality and comfort, and these headphones deliver on all fronts.
Firstly, the audio quality is phenomenal. The THX Spatial Audio provides immersive surround sound, whether I’m gaming, watching movies, or listening to music. The clarity and depth of the soundstage truly enhance my overall experience.
Secondly, the comfort level is exceptional. The memory foam ear cushions and lightweight design make wearing these headphones for extended periods incredibly comfortable. They fit snugly without causing any discomfort, even during long gaming sessions.
Additionally, the wireless functionality with low-latency connectivity is a game-changer. I can move freely without being tethered to my device, and the battery life is impressive, lasting for hours on a single charge.
The build quality is also worth mentioning—these headphones feel durable and well-made, which is reassuring considering their premium price point.
Overall, the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro headphones are a fantastic choice for gamers and audio enthusiasts alike. They combine top-notch audio performance, comfort, and wireless convenience in a package that’s hard to beat.
The Razer BlackShark V2 Esports Gaming Headset stands as a pinnacle of audio excellence, delivering unparalleled sound quality, comfort, and versatility for competitive gamers and audio enthusiasts alike. From its crystal-clear audio to its lightweight design, every aspect of this headset is engineered to give you the edge you need to dominate the competition.
Let’s start with sound quality. Equipped with Razer’s innovative TriForce Titanium 50mm drivers, the BlackShark V2 delivers crisp highs, rich mids, and deep, punchy bass that immerses you in every gaming moment. Whether you’re listening for enemy footsteps in a tense firefight or enjoying your favourite music, the BlackShark V2’s audio clarity and precision elevate your experience to new heights.
But it’s not just about what you hear—it’s also about how you communicate. The BlackShark V2 features Razer’s Hyper Clear Cardioid Mic, which delivers crystal-clear voice communication with enhanced noise cancellation. Whether you’re coordinating strategies with your team or chatting with friends, your voice comes through loud and clear, ensuring seamless communication in the heat of battle.
Comfort is another area where the BlackShark V2 excels. With its lightweight design and plush memory foam ear cushions, this headset is designed for extended gaming sessions without sacrificing comfort. The breathable fabric ear cushions keep your ears cool and dry, even during intense gaming marathons, while the adjustable headband ensures a secure and comfortable fit for heads of all sizes.
Versatility is another standout feature of the BlackShark V2. Whether you’re gaming on PC, console, or mobile device, this headset offers universal compatibility, allowing you to enjoy high-quality audio no matter where you play. The detachable 3.5mm audio cable gives you the flexibility to connect to a wide range of devices, while the USB sound card provides advanced audio processing for PC gamers.
The only potential downside of the BlackShark V2 is its lack of wireless connectivity. While some gamers may prefer the convenience of wireless headsets, the BlackShark V2’s wired connection ensures a reliable and lag-free audio experience, making it a worthy trade-off for those who prioritize performance.
In conclusion, the Razer BlackShark V2 Esports Gaming Headset is a force to be reckoned with in the world of gaming audio. With its unparalleled sound quality, crystal-clear microphone, and all-day comfort, it’s the ultimate weapon for competitive gamers who demand nothing but the best. Whether you’re a seasoned esports pro or a casual gamer, the BlackShark V2 is sure to elevate your gaming experience to new heights.
Bought this as an upgrade from the wired Blackshark V2’s. Overall it’s a great headset. Very comfy (once you’ve worn it in a little). The sound quality took a while to sort out. For me, the default EQ presets are awful. Way too bass heavy and muffled mids. I had to do a bit of digging online to get something that sounded good to me. Everyone will be different. By far the biggest upgrade over the Blackshark V2 is the mic . It’s excellent and doesn’t sound too far off some of my friends mid-tier arm mics. You can adjust the EQ of the mic to suit your preference too.
Haven’t had any issues with the wireless connection. Stays connected, no drop outs, crackling noise or intermittent mic cuts. This was mentioned in some of the early reviews but I think they’ve fixed it with firmware updates (bought it in July 2023).
Battery life is good. I’ll get 1-2 weeks out of it depending on how much I’m gaming. Doesn’t take too long to charge either.
The only major negative for me is the sidetone feature. This was excellent on the wired Blackshark V2 but the wireless model is a substantial downgrade. Even at 100% the sidetone is less noticeable and when it’s around 90-100%, you get a slight static/hissing noise. You won’t notice it during most gameplay though. Your voice also doesn’t sound 100% natural with sidetone, takes a while to get used to. I can’t live without it though as I always end up shouting with sidetone off.
There’s no active ANC so you only get passive. It does a good enough job as the cups fully seal your ears.
Warning:
I use these on a PC, if you’re using them for a console then I can’t really comment as out of the box I don’t think these are great for the PC, you need to do some tweaks with the Synapse software which I’ll cover.
Quick review:
Once everything is set up I think they sound good, they’re not audiophile level headphones and you wouldn’t expect them to be for the money. Game support is good, pretty much every game I have which was released in the past 5 years seems to have a custom profile for it or at the very least THX support (Cyberpunk).
Soundstage is pretty decent which certainly helps hearing footsteps in games like Call of Duty and you can detect them better than decent headphones alone. They do a good job of separating sounds is how I would describe it.
The mic is good (once you’ve set it up), my voice sounds clear and the Synapse software does let you tweak things to kill background noise etc.
The bad:
The cable is too short. It’s the minimum you could get away it, it’s a lot shorter than their mice cables as an example. The USB sound card only has a couple inches on it. You don’t need to be able to touch the sound card or anything but I would recommend getting an extension for the USB side of things (if using on a PC), you could extend the 3.5mm cable but make sure you get a 4 pole one, a standard 3.5mm cable will not carry the mic signal. There’s also lots of reviews of these cables harming the audio quality and mic issues – I think you’re safer to extend the USB and have the sound card on your desk somewhere. If you sit next to your tower and intend to plug this into a front panel, you’ll probably be fine so I would try without an extension first – but if you know this will be an issue, have it in mind and maybe purchase an extension with them.
Out of the box they sound a bit crap, the mic is also terrible until you set it up correctly and then it’s absolutely fine.
Mic:
The mic is incredibly sensitive – which I do like that they essentially give you the device raw rather than ship it restricted – but I think the software could have a better ‘fit all’ setup.
In the Synapse software under Mic, you’ll want to enable the ‘Voice gate’. It’s a slider from high, medium and low. Medium is the absolute minimum you can get away with, I recommend low (0). This will cut out a lot of sounds which aren’t your voice. Without this you’ll hear lip smacking, breathing and even my Razer mouse clicking was being picked up…
From there I basically have everything enabled for the mic, play around with it – I’ve included a screenshot. I also like the mic is detachable – I believe on the cheaper X version it’s not.
Sound:
I’ve included the settings I use, if you don’t like as much bass then dial that back but I found the default settings were too flat and not as enjoyable.
Comfort:
These are comfy and light, I’d say they’re about the same weight as my Sennheiser HD600, and I wear them for hours. The pads are really soft, they’re not going to get sweaty and they’re really easy to adjust. I’ve seen some complaints about this but hasn’t been a problem for me. I don’t wear glasses but for this review I tested with some sunglasses and they didn’t apply annoying pressure.
Overall:
Once you’ve got these settings applied I found I got really good performance and no complaints hearing me over discord. I also like the hardware buttons, a volume control and a mic mute – push it in and you’re muted.
Setup was easy, if you don’t have anything Razer you’ll plug the USB sound card in and it’ll install Synapse – no faffing about downloading software etc. If you already have Synapse (I do for a mouse), it prompt me to install an update and that was it. I now could click the device and control everything.
