I really like this keyboard. It connects either via cable, bluetooth or using the included dongle so is very flexible. It is very responsive and even when it has gone in to standby wakes again instantly (when using the cable or dongle at least.) The typing action is really good. A decent amount of travel and reliable feedback mean that this is perfect for writing emails as well as gaming. I would say office tasks, but the compact nature means that some of the more “office” type functions like page up/down and even function keys require multiple key presses. There is a decent LED glow which can be configured as required. The whole thing has a decent weight so stays put on the desk.
I am a bit disappointed that no manual is included. You need to do a bit of searching to find the manual and software. I would have also liked it to be in a UK layout.
For typing and for gaming this is an excellent keyboard. It is well made and super responsive. Highly recommended.
I use this mechanical keyboard with my gaming PC and usually for casual games like GTA 5 (FiveM) and Fortnite, and I’m pleased with its performance. It’s only 60%, so I saved a lot of valuable desk space, which is like real estate these days.
And the RGB backlighting adds a nice aesthetic, you can turn it on or off too and customise it easily.
The keys are responsive and provide a satisfying clicky feel, which is great for both typing and gaming, I’m using it to type right now and it feels smooth, but loud too.
The build quality is solid, and the keyboard feels durable. Switching between bluetooth and USB connectivity is seamless, it’s a versatile and reliable keyboard and I can’t fault it.
This is the first time owning a keyboard of this calibre as I have been a console player for as long as I can remember. Recently I have gotten into PC gaming and thought I’d give this a go. Honestly, I love it. It’s compact, great quality and has a very good weight to it. The keys can be pressed effortlessly and they have such a satisfying sound to them when using it.Then there’s the RGB lighting function that left me in awe! There’s quite a few options for how the keys light up and react to the keys being pressed, all controlled by a combination of keys (don’t throw the instructions away if you have a terrible memory like me!). The setup is very straight forward and I didn’t have any issues using this via bluetooth. there is a dongle too if you don’t wish to use bluetooth and neither option gives and input lag at all and is all very instant interns of gaming input.
Overall this keyboard is very good and makes the transition from console to PC great! I’m so glad I got this!

What’s great about this keyboard is all the different light colour modes you can have, scrolling through the ones you want through a combination of key presses. It also has several spare keys too (and tweezers to install them) – unlike my last keyboard which is now missing a key light and I have no spares. Okay, you may be thinking if it has spares, will the lights not last, but at least it has spares to keep you going a bit longer.
I charged the keyboard before first use as the instructions suggested. Next great feature is that the Bluetooth dongle is secure in the underside of the keyboard so you can keep it safely there if moving the keyboard. The keyboard connected super quickly via Bluetooth to my work laptop. The keys themselves feel great quality when pressing – quite firm. The key layout is mapped for a different country so you’ll need to change this if in the UK. The only thing I noticed with the greenish keyboard colour scheme is that the lights were a little muted against it, as opposed to a light pink keyboard I have where the colour lights look much brighter. All in all this one is a cheery, good quality keyboard.
Welcome to the world of mechanical keyboards with the Royal Kludge RK61.
It is a compact but weighty thing. The keys are full-sized and every click is precise. It’s not a quiet keyboard by any means but if you like your keyboard to make a reassuring sound with every keypress then the RK61 fits the bill.
It reminds me very much of a computer keyboard found on home computers from the late seventies and early eighties (Atari 1200XL for example). It feels like it is built to last, reassuringly clunky.
No instructions were provided in the box but a manual and software can be downloaded easily from the Royal Kludge website. It is compact so might take a bit of getting used to if you are usually typing away on a full-length keyboard with numeric keypad. An extractor tool as well as four spare switches are included in the box.
On the back of the keyboard is a switch to toggle between wireless (via the supplied dongle) or Bluetooth. You also get one USB-A port and 2 USB-C ports. The cable that is supplied if you want to use it as a wired keyboard is USB-C with an adaptor on the end for USB-A. It works fine in my gaming PCs standard USB 3.0 ports.
If you download the RK software for this keyboard it will allow you to setup custom profiles, macros and the coolest feature of all, RGB lighting. There are some quite cool lighting modes from ripple effect with every key press to shadows that highlight the most recent key presses and fade away, to syncing the RGB effect to music from your speakers. You can choose a solid colour or go for colour mixing which essentially gives everything a rainbow of colours.
I’m pretty impressed by it to be honest. The only downside is the US keyboard layout. If it was specifically a UK layout then this would be five stars. As it is, it is a very solid and well deserved four.
I’ve tried other mechanical keyboards in the past such as blue and red switches – these have silver switches which I’ve never tried before and from the weeks that I’ve been using this, I can say that I do prefer these over blue switches and they have a great feeling to them.
They are quite loud, but they don’t produce as sharp of a “snap” sound like blue switches do, instead it’s more of a duller tack sound. The physical response doesn’t feel as clicky or stepped like blue switches – these feel smoother and bottom out with a thud as it reaches the base of the keyboard.
It does provide a very nice typing experience that feels tactile and pleasing. It uses the US layout so it doesn’t have the UK style enter button and is missing some keys, also some of the symbols printed on the keys won’t be reflective of what you’ll actually be typing (if your OS is set to UK, that is), such as the ” and @ keys on the 2nd key.
I also had an interesting quirk, likely due to the layout mismatch or perhaps even a feature that I may have accidentally toggled, that meant the right “/?”, “Alt”,”Ctrl” and menu keys actually functioned as arrow keys.
The keyboard, like other mechanical keyboards, is quite sensitive since that tactile feedback you get from the keys bottoming out isn’t actually reflective of when the character is entered – it’s actually before that. This means you can slightly depress the key and it’ll start inputting that data without any response, so this keyboard can be quite unforgiving if you tend to lean your hand or fingers over some keys without realizing it – I tend to leave my thumb resting on the space bar so I’ve had some accidents in regards to that.
The quality of the keys is lovely and the keyboard also has a good amount of weight to it as well. I also really like the colour scheme with its subtle shades of green and white.
It’s also true RGB for each key and when pressing the Fn key along with the “|” key, you can change the lighting mode, such as one where it lights up each key you press momentarily or cycles through animations. All of these modes can have their colours changed as well. I personally like to use the keyboard with the backlight turned off since the natural design and faded green/white colour scheme looks great, and the RGB can sometimes get in the way of that sleek look. However, I have set it up so it just displays a white backlight at a low brightness which was nice as well.
I wanted a keyboard to use with my laptop, much easier than navigating flat keys. The keys of this keyboard, in 3 shades of blue, make a welcome change from black – it looks really good; not too loud but subtly colourful. It’s much easier to work with being appropriately shaped for touch-typing. It’s compact, in that it doesn’t have separate arrow keys, a number pad or a separate row of function keys, but all the keys you need are incorporated into the keyboard. It isn’t lightweight for travelling – the keys are normal sized and the keyboard itself is quite deep, and reassuringly weighty. I very much like the small size for using around the house with my laptop. Included are 4 spare switches and a key and switch puller should you need to make repairs/clean underneath etc.
Although the keyboard is designed for gamers, there’s no reason why it can’t be used for other purposes.
My son assures me that some people prefer the US layout, however I find it’s only a difference for a small number of keys – I just have to remember that the function key is at the bottom right, unlike the left as on my laptop! The lighting effect is impressive and in constant colour-changing motion from left to right across the keyboard. The keys respond quickly and have very good ‘substantial’ feel to them – it’s a really pleasant keyboard to work with.
We (all 3 of us!) struggled to pair the keyboard via the instruction booklet, but found it much quicker via the laptop’s settings & selecting Bluetooth – very quick. There are lots of keypad shortcuts, which I don’t think most people would remember (maybe with constant use?) – best to either take a copy/photo & pin it up on the wall nearby, or at least keep a copy or the original instruction booklet to hand!

I found this keyboard in a different league to most keyboards that I have had or used. Quality wise I found amazing. The switches for the keys all have the same feel and weight to them. When you press a key you know you have pressed it as there is a sense of a positive kind of feedback that it relays to you.
I am not a gamer at all but do a lot of typing work on my computer. My laptop has a keyboard but it is one of those generic type that has a very low key travel and no form of feedback that I do enjoy having.
Typing on this keyboard I would have expected myself to suffer a bit given that it is stated it is 60% size but the build and the keys seem to make this a lot easier than I thought.
Connectivity wise I just use bluetooth to connect but there are two other ways. Direct USB C and a proprietary 2.4Ghz USB dongle.
There is a lovely lighting effect that this keyboard has and there are various settings and configurations for this as is with the keys that can be assigned to various functions and keystrokes.
My only issue, which is a real shame, is that the keyboard is US based and so some of the special characters have been moved around as well as the enter key being smaller and more of a rectangle. This is not really a deal breaker unless you have got use to the UK keyboard and will absolutely get annoyed with the different layout.
The other thought is that is it worth 70? There seems to be plenty gaming keyboards out on the market catering for all pocket sizes but for the build and the exactness that these keys provide, I would say it is worth it if you love typing on a keyboard that is 60% sized but when you type it does not feel it.
Compact size keyboard. Easy to set up and use.
Feels really substantial. They keys are lovely to press. I connected with the USB lead but it has a Bluetooth feature too.
Fancy illumination on the keyboard probably more suited to a gamer but it looks great on my office desk.
The one thing I do miss though is the number pad but I’ll get over it.
This keyboard firstly is hefty, it’s got some proper weight tonite and isn’t going to move on a desk.
It feels great to use, switches click nicely and the lighting is fantastic with loads of modes and settings.
It connects well to my phone using Bluetooth but my laptop didn’t like it so I used the included 2.4ghz connector which works fine.
Two things I wasn’t a fan of was the lack of angle adjustment and the usb post on the rear are not quite straight so getting a usb C in can be fiddly.
Overally a verygood feeling keyboard for gaming.
Let me be honest. I’m the kinda person who, when they come to buy a car – I’m primarily focused on it being the right colour first and foremost. (Black by the way). I fade out when it comes to performance etc. Does it have wheels and a roof and does it look good? Excellent. Here’s a pot of money. Give me the keys and let me be on my way.
So. My review on this keyboard is swayed by and primarily about its looks. It’s super cool looking. A lovely hue of green and a chunky old skool design that feels a good weight in the hands. Now. When I turned it on – magic! The multi coloured lights made me ooh and ahh..
The main downside (quite alarmingly so) is that printed on the instructions is the message informing you that this product can expose you to chemicals which are known to cause cancer and birth defects!! (See pic of instruction booklet above ). Not sure if this is from the Bluetooth or the materials they use.. Very odd. So. Given this, and although I’m in the love with the look of it, it’s going to stay in the drawer for now until I work out why..
The keyboard arrived very well and attractively packaged, but I was immediately surprised at the weight of the thing, and on unwrapping it, its size; it’s really quite small. Further examination of it revealed it to be a very well and robustly made device. Reassuringly solid, which explains the weight given its diminutive size, but it’s obviously a superior keyboard.
The keys feel good and solid with a surprisingly nice and responsive feel to them, as is expected with a mechanical keyboard. Of course it is a limited keyboard as in it has no function keys, number pad or arrows (hence the small size). It’s a US keyboard layout to, which will deter many potential UK users. I’d assumed I could ‘remap’ the keys, but now I have it I’m experiencing difficulty finding out how.
I’ve only used it with the USB lead, and it worked immediately and without any issues. But I’ve no doubt it will perform as well wirelessly.
It has wonderfully flowing lights which wash across the keyboard in a choice of colours should one wish to employ them. This perhaps indicates one targeted customer; the gamer. For more serious users they might serve only as a distraction, but they are hardly compulsory!
All in all a good keyboard, excellent if one is aware of its shortcomings and can live without them.
For me it is barely useable for the simplest of silly reasons. I am used to transparent keys that a muted light shines through as I work i.e. every character on every key is unmistakeable. With this keyboard I found myself struggling at times to find the required key.

I have heard rather negative reviews about the brand online, with regards to its overall quality and peformance, but so far I have not experienced any issues with it.
I will update this review if I do end up encountering such issues.
