Location update | The location update depends on whether there are Apple devices around, it doesn’t have a GPS inside |
I keep one in my wallet and one on my key fob and it’s saved me a couple of times already.
A really handy little tech device to use when you don’t want/need to spend hundreds on Apple products. This works and that’s all you really need.
I was unlucky enough to lose my car key fob, many years ago (I fear it slipped out of my trouser pocket in a pub, after I had been playing squash — heavyish slippery items slide out of shallow trouser pockets all too easily when sitting down); that forced me to leave my car in town & walk home at a very late/early hour, after thorough search for them & reporting the matter to the police; fortunately, our milkman was passing on his way to start his round & stopped to give me a lift home. Next day, I went back to town & spent hours fruitlessly searching again; no-one handed them in! It cost me way more than 100 to get a new fob supplied, programmed & physical key cut.
Then, a week or so ago, I mislaid my wife’s car key fob — before I left our garage, with her fob/key in hand, I had moved some small black plastic items out of the way & inadvertently had put the key down with them, in a cupboard where they were properly stored. It took me many hours of searching all sorts of improbable locations the next day before I located them again. In order to help, should I have recurrences of such incidents, I ordered an HH-Tech Tag Lite 2-pack, reviewed here.
After delivery of the HH-Tech tags, I tested that they work as advertised, though munfortunately I am hard-of-hearing & the sound they emit is not very loud. Fortunately, there has been no loss or misplacement of the items to which the tags are now attached, so they have not, so to speak, been used in anger (or more accurately, in potential despair).
When ordered, the HH-Tech Smart Tag LITE for Apple iOS Devices: Key Finder, Item Finder (2-pack, with Spare battery also provided) was priced at 25.99 (worth it to prevent (one hopes) loss of much more valuable items). That c. 26 price now appears expensive because this HH-Tech Tag Lite 2-pack has had its Amazon listing price reduced to 18.99. That latter price is certainly an insurance premium (of sorts) worth paying against loss of items valuable to you.
This device works really well as an alternative to an Apple Airtag, while being slightly cheaper. If you have an older iPhone, it performs very well, with all features working as expected.
Where this product falls down slightly is if you have a more modern iPhone with the U1 chip equipped, as this unlocks the added feature of precise tracking, which is a brilliant feature. Unfortunately this feature isn’t available with this device, reducing it’s value somewhat.
At the time of writing my review, this device is currently priced significantly cheaper than official AirTags. As I have a more modern iPhone, personally I would pay the extra for an official AirTag, however this is a good device nonetheless and has performed as expected for me.
You get quite a few goodies in the tiny little box, which includes 3 x tags, 3 x spare CR2023 lithium batteries, 3 x lanyards, 2 x silicone tag covers, a panda keyring and a cover removal tool that helps when replacing the batteries.
Each tag has its own ring to attach to a key ring and a single function button which powers the tags on/off. They’re slightly larger than Apple’s own AirTags and are made from black plastic.
Operating the device is straightforward, simply remove the paper tab from the tags until you hear a melody, then head over to the ‘Find My’ app and add the device which will show up on the list. You can then name the tag and associate an emoji if you want and you’re all set.
Unlike other Tags I’ve used in the past, the sound on these is pretty loud, which will easily help you to locate lost items.
Compared to official Apple AirTags this pack offers great value for money. Granted you dont get the same level of precision when locating lost items, yet still, for the price you get more bang for your buck. Recommended item.
Priced at 12.99- this is quite affordable and wells work as a dupe of the AirTag. Lovely small & colorful keyring which is easy to attach & also has long lasting battery. I attached these onto my car keys as I’m always losing them in terms of the set up – this was quite straight forward as you just have to long press the key ring and then find it on ‘ find my iPhone’ and click it from there. Very easy and quick to set up. I tested out the sound too and is very loud, also shows gps map where you last left it. Good quality and works very well. Super happy with this and would recommend
Bought x2 tags. Quick deliver. Tags are very simple to set up and use, look and feel good, and are excellent value for money compared to others. Also received a complimentary tag holder. Had x1 tag replaced, delivered within 48hrs of initial contact on whatsapp. Customer Service was exceptional too. 5* from me
Tagging one’s belongings is a necessary evil in the modern world. Happily, these tags are reliable and affordable, and offer peace of mind when venturing outside the comforts of your own home.
The tags are easily paired with the Apple find app, and their volume is loud enough to make themselves heard when required. I placed one on my handbag for testing, and it performed perfectly.
One small gripe is that the are a touch large to fit in my husband’s slimline card wallet. But that’s clearly ascertained from the Amazon listing. Recommended!
I got these pair of smart tags, and they arrived in a nice branded box, making them perfect for gifting. These tags are cheaper than the more expensive branded alternatives like AirTags but perform well, with the only noticeable difference being their slightly larger size, and cheaper build quality. They come with everything you need, including spare batteries, a plastic pricking tool for battery replacement, keychains, protectors, lanyards, and a user manual. The setup was easy thanks to the clear instructions. I decided to try these after a friend recommended them for keeping track of our 3.5-year-old, who has a habit of wandering off. These tags fit easily into my son’s backpack or can be discreetly attached to his clothing with a hook and loop strip. Pairing them with my iPhone was straightforward, and they work well within a short range, which is sufficient if we act quickly when our little one goes out of sight. They proved their worth at a recent funfair, helping us locate our son swiftly. The alarm/beeper is quite silent, especially with background noise, which is fine indoors but less effective outside. While the build quality isn’t as robust as the pricier versions, they perform similarly, making them a good budget-friendly option.
These are generic tags compatible with Apples ‘Find My’ app/network.
I’ve tested a few of these now from different manufacturers and they all seem to offer a similar experience. They work reliably at short range and are useful for figuring out where you left keys etc.. but they lack the precision locating features of AirTags and the alarm/beeper is pretty quiet, fine in a silent room when you are close by but you would struggle to hear it in a separate room, especially if there is background noise.
Build quality on these feels pretty cheap, definitely at the lower end of the market even as far as these generic tags are concerned but ultimately they do work, stick one in a rucksack or on your key and it will help you to locate them.
I recently received the HH-Tech Smart Tag LITE for Apple iOS Devices, and these have been a great for keeping track of my belongings. Here’s my comprehensive review:
**Ease of Setup:**
Setting up the Smart Tag LITE was straightforward. It seamlessly integrates with the Apple Find My app, and the initial pairing process took just a few minutes. The detailed instructions provided were clear and easy to follow.
**Design and Build Quality:**
The tags are compact and lightweight, making them easy to attach to various items like keys, wallets, bags, and suitcases. The build quality feels solid, and the sleek design blends well with my belongings.
**Functionality:**
These smart tags work flawlessly with the iPhone Find My app. I tested them on several items, and each time, the app accurately pinpointed their locations. The ability to see the last known location is incredibly helpful, especially for items that tend to get misplaced frequently.
**Range and Accuracy:**
The range is impressive. Within the house, I had no trouble locating items in different rooms. Even when I left a tagged item at a friend’s house, the app updated me with the location once it was within the network range. The accuracy is spot on, giving me confidence that I can always find what I’ve attached them to.
**Battery Life:**
The battery life seems promising. After a few weeks of usage, the battery levels are still high, and the app provides updates on battery status, which is very convenient.
**Security Features:**
The Smart Tag LITE includes essential security features. The device ensures privacy and security through the Apple ecosystem, which has built-in measures to prevent unauthorised tracking.
**Practicality:**
Having a pack of two is very practical. I use one for my keys and the other for my wallet. The peace of mind knowing I can locate these items at any time is invaluable.
**Overall Impressions:**
Overall, the HH-Tech Smart Tag LITE is an excellent investment for anyone who frequently misplaces items. Accidents can and do obviously happen!!
It offers reliable performance, easy integration with Apple devices, and robust tracking capabilities. I highly recommend these, especially at half the price of a branded one.
Cheaper version than airtags for iphones. Do not confuse these with Smart Tags for Android phones. They only work with iphones or similar products. With the Apple Find My app it is simple to get paired and started. These tags come with simple cases, mini lanyards and even a gift keyring.
It also includes batteries and a spare.
Please note that these work with Bluetooth and only track up to (sometimes less) 50m so you cannot see that your keys are at home once you are in work, for example.
These 2 x HH-Tech Smart Tag LITE for Apple iOS Devices are small and discreet .
A little larger then the branded version , a simple black plastic outer, an integral hole to attach to key ring or hook and lightweight.
Very simply to pair to iPhone and immediately show location, notifies when out of range and an audible alarm if enabled to find once in range .
The alarm is not very loud certainly not the claimed 75db but can be heard when near.
Supplied with 2032 batteries plus spares , silicone covers , short lanyards and a pick to ease battery replacement when needed .
Really impressed with these and a fraction of the price of branded ones. They will be invaluable for keeping track of luggage when travelling and so many other uses .
Good little airtag alternatives! It has multiple accessories in the box including spare batteries, keychain, lanyards and protective covers. Build quality is good. Pairing to an iPhone is easy but not as straight forward as with an Airtag. Also does not support Precision Finding, but has a fairly loud speaker so you shold be able to find it once it starts chirping.
Depending on the current pricing this is a decent value alternative to otherwise expensive airtags.
