Our xbox 360 would overheat after playing for about 20min. Used compressed Air to remove the dust but it did not make a difference. We placed this fan on the vent port on the top. The xbox now stays totally cool and has not overheated in 2 days continues play. The casing used to get hot too but it all stays totally cooled down. Amazing product.
Just wanted to add my case-specific niggle to the other excellent reviews.
Yes, the speed controller remembers the setting you’ve selected, but I wanted to connect it to a smart plug for a timed on / off schedule. It doesn’t remember the power state. It is always off when power is supplied.
The fan comes well packaged, has everything needed including fan grills and connectors. Depending on your project, be it a drier box, PC fan use or other, some of those items won’t be needed, but are there if you do. Powered on it worked fine, stepping through the various power levels. I’ve included a video of it running on the highest setting and the lowest setting to try pick up the sound, which is very minimal considering this isn’t in any enclosure as such yet, so once in an enclosure, I imagine it will be way quieter.
Overall, a good adjustable fan with standard-size barrel connectors, making it easy to use on other devices with a simple barrel connector swap out if needed.
Arrived as described, as pictured safe and sound. This fan works quite well and is very well made, that goes for everything from the 12v power supply, controller, fan itself and the supplied accessories such as fan guards. These are very handy to have on hand to provide supplementary cooling for any sort of tech that requires a little extra help.
This fan is what I would described as being on the higher end of the spectrum when it comes to static pressure, in other words it puts out quite a strong column of air which is quite concentrated. This is ideal for moving air over things or devices.
Everything in this kit uses barrel connectors, including the fan which is a tad disappointing as you’re stuck using the supplied fan and don’t have the ability to use other fans that use a standard fan connector. The controller itself has three buttons, power and two speed buttons which give you five speed options.
Criticisms, even on its lowest setting this fan is quite loud, for me anyway and some slower speed settings would have been ideal as the fan will still move a decent amount of air even at lower speeds. Another negative when it comes to this kit and my reason for giving it four stars instead of five, the fan controller does not remember its last powered state — i.e. if you have a power cut and this fan was running, it will not turn back on automatically when power is restored. Other than that I highly recommended this.
Excellent DC 12V cooling with AC 220V 240V Plug.
I got it to cool my MacBook. Its four sharp corners prevent the MacBook from slipping or scratching the PC surface.
It supports 5 Adjustable Speeds and is easy to control.
It has a leading power cable, which suits my needs.
I recently used it to cool my electrical sockets when charging my EV CAR using a 3-pin charger.
The socket heating was increasing the extension cable temperature; however, after pacing this cooling van, I almost have the socket and the extension cable very cool.
Overall, it provided sufficient cooling, and I was delighted.
It’s a good kit this, comes with the fan, power supply plug (12v) and control unit. You can plug the power straight to the fan to give full speed permanently or use the inline controller to turn on & off and select speed.
It also has various screws and rubber mounts, and covering grilles too.
It works well on all speeds, though I have to say it’s not very quiet on the higher speeds. I have various PC cooling fans that shift as much air but are almost silent, so I think this one would be good for equipment enclosures in uninhabited locations, like server rooms or similar?
Overall though it’s a great kit, and with the various bits & bobs makes it very versatile.
This fan is great and versatile because it comes with a 240V UK plug and inline switch/speed controller allowing it to be used outside of a PC. Because if this the fan was perfect for a DIY air purifier I’m working on.
I like that this kit comes with grills/covers for the fan as well as screws and rubber pads for the screws to reduce vibrations. The fan itself has some foam pads on the corners to reduce this as well should you choose not to use the rubber pads with the screws.
In my testing the fan is very quiet which is great. Although it is still very early days and I would expect some noise to be introduced as the bearings wear. I I like the adjustable speed and even at full speed its not too noisy. I would prefer the speed to go higher and maybe this is why the fan appears less noisy.
Overall I’m very please with this kit which allows you to use this fan outside of your PC case. While I would prefer it have higher speeds it’s not slow. The air flow comes out at around a 45 which is more of an angle that other fan I’ve used. Not a major issue buy something to be aware of if you’re going to use this fan near a wall or something.
