I ordered these because I have a confusing mix of USB C & A cables at this point, I’m sure I’m not alone!
The construction on these is unusual, on the product page they are described variously as being aluminium or zinc alloy, but they have a ceramic finish, and maybe build. It’s not bad, it’s really nice, at least the coating is certainly glass/ceramic. You can see in the pictures the finish is very glossy, and the surface is cold and hard. I’m not sure if the outer casing is entirely ceramic, or if it’s glazed metal. The material is quite heavy.
Well, it matters more how they work, I got the expected speeds of up to 5Gbps, which whilst it’s only USB 3.0 speed is still pretty fast and fine for most things I do. I like the blue colour coding on the USB A side because it makes it easy to identify the speed when they’re mixed in with other things.
They’re not too long either, which could be an issue because the further they stick out of a port the more likely it is I’ll knock them, possibly damaging the port.
I think the price is good, especially given the unusual ceramic design, which I really like, and they work completely reliably.
Everyone need a selection of adaptors for when you don’t quite have the correct USB cable. For example when you want to plug your phone into your laptop and only have a USB-C to USB-C cable and the laptop has a USB-A socket. These adaptors solve problems like this.
They appear to be well made and pass both data and power correctly.
As for the claim that they are high speed, this is surely dependent upon the two devices you are trying to connect and the cable you are using. The short data path through one of these adaptors is going to make very little difference.
Oddly the packaging says “Audio Adapter” & “for mobile & professional audio devices”. No, it’s data and power, not audio (unless the audio is part of a data stream).
At 4 each they are on the pricy side compared with most of the other adaptors on sale, maybe because it’s “professional”.
Printier remembers.
However nowadays, I need adapters.
All my old stuff is A, my laptop is all C, so I buy some C dongles… but then not every other computer has C.
I cannot get enough A-C and C-A converters right now.
I ordered this to use for adapting a USB C hub to USB A. I only needed a single device, so the double pack gives a spare for now. I tried a few USB C plugs in the adapter, and there was a slightly less smooth action than for sockets in general, however the connection was firm and not loose, which is important. I couldn’t max out the claimed bandwidth, but performance of devices in the hub was expected, so it’s working fine for my use case.
