his is the mercat & me on-the-go portable game console from vtech, it features mercat of gabby’s dollhouse, the console has a flip clamshell design, mercat head as the cover, open the cover there is a retro style dot matrix lcd screen, and 4 function buttons and 4 direction buttons
it got really loud sound, there is setting function to adjust the volume, lcd contrast as well as the time and alarm, even kids can pick their favourite clock face in setting
only a quick start guide leaflet is included, when i followed the qrcode to vtech website for a detailed user guide, i couldn’t find it, eventually i found the manual somewhere from google web search
there are 4 mini games in the console, easy to learn and play, should fit kids from 3 years old, but maybe a bit too easy for kids over 5
a carabiner is included for hanging it to bag, make it a nice decoration too
happy with this product, would recommend
This is such a cute little toy, my niece absolutely loves Gabby’s Dollhouse, so this is the perfect toy for her.
This toy is a clamshell design and kind of reminds me of a Tamagotchi.
It has a back lit LCD screen which actually works very well.
Below that there’s an up, down, left and right button. To the sides of the screen there are various action buttons.
On opening the toy, you hear the meow sound from the tv show, it’s very cute. The toy is set to demo mode at first and runs through most of the things it can do.
The screen is bright and even though it’s an LCD it works very well. The sound is also pretty good for such a small toy.
There are various games for your kids to play which are engaging and interactive. They’re also educational, including learning about shapes, maths, time and developing logic skills.
The toy is also customisable, allowing you to change the clock face, volume, screen brightness and set an alarm clock.
Overall, this is a great toy, perfect for any fans of Gabby’s Dollhouse.
It’s very well made, it’s lots of fun, it’s educational and develops skills.
I’d highly recommend this toy for children aged 3 to 6 years old.
Gabby’s doll house is currently a big hit – so decided to try it.
The item looks to be kind of Tamagotchi inspired but there are a number of games and activities. There are a few different categories of games, puzzles and quizzes to enjoy. There is a clock and also an alarm.
The actual device is simple to use and if you get annoyed by the noises (you know how it can be when you find a whining toy!) you can turn it down.
There is also a handy clip on the back for on-the-go play without fear of losing it.
Perfect for kids, and a decent brand!
4/5 – Great Product!
I picked up this VTech toy for my 4 year old niece. I’ve never heard of Gabbys Dollhouse before, but know the appeal of a cute meowing kitty.
This toy looks like a Tamagotchi at first, but dont be fooled, this contains a series of educational games as well as a clock and alarm. Not a virtual pet in sight. It very much fits within the VTech product range I am familiar with.
For fans of the series this is a nice little toy that ties in with the Mercat character, and from the smiles of my niece, I am happy to recommend
I finally found a little educational toy that my child wants to play with. It looks like a Tamagotchi in style, but it’s actually an educational game in disguise, lol. She absolutely loves Gabby’s Dollhouse. It’s been very easy to get her to play on this. It has math, science, and other educational games and quizzes on there. I really like it.
The settings are quite easy to use, and the volume can also be turned down, but you have to go into the settings to do this, which is a bit irritating, especially as it meows a lot. But if you like the meowing and you’re not fussed about an irritating noise coming out every 5 seconds, then this is the toy for you. She has really taken to it and she’s really pleased with it.
It clips on her belt, and she can also attach it to her backpack as it comes with a handy little clip, so you know it’s never far away for journeys, etc. It’s really handy to get out if she’s getting a bit bored, and you know that she’s actually learning something as opposed to doing some mind-numbing, boring game that teaches her nothing. I’d recommend this item.
Entertaining toy for a pre-schooler. Can be carried around with the little one – especially on car journeys (although adults may not appreciate the noises in the confined space of the vehicle).
Personalise the volume and brightness.
Not essential to know the themed link for it to entertain.
A good range of activities.
Comes with batteries but do have replacements handy as a long on shelf time for budget-priced batteries could catch you out with failing.
If your kid loves Gabby and watches her in the mornings then she will like this toy. I thought it was going to be like a Tamagotchi but it’s more of an electronic educational game system, It features a character called MerCat which is popular on the tv show. There are maths and science games, and quizzes and it can also be used as a clock and alarm system. It is compact and luckily you can turn the sound down on it as my daughter liked to take it to the restaurant with her so that was a bonus.
It makes the most adorable miew sound when opened. There are batteries installed, but the box does state that these are for the test mode. Which implies they should probably be switched before giving it to your little one, but mine have lasted a couple of days so far.
Comes locked to a demo mode, with instructions on how to unlock it inside the packaging.
It would have been nice if there was a manual volume wheel, as it is you have to navigate into the settings menu, where it will miaow at you with each selection. What starts out cute gets tiring quickly as an adult. It’s very loud initially. In settings, you can also set alarms, change the time (there’s many different time screens with a different mercat for each) as well as the backlight and brightness.
It’s really easy to use and a comfortable shape to hold. There’s also a clip to hang it in the box, too. My niece enjoyed the games.
