As the title suggests, this surpassed my expectations!
You can get a lot of these items on Amazon that claim to do this, that and the other, and claim to be amazing and have the best resolutions and the best x, y and z, but this is pretty decent, especially given the price.
Ultimately I would say it was comparable to my Logitech webcam (maybe even slightly better than) that I’ve had for a few years (though it is the 1080p version).
In the box you get the camera, a USB cable and a USB-C adapter (which is a very nice touch), meaning you can plug into a USB-A or a USB-C port. You also get a little QR code which you scan to download a PDF version of the manual, so a physical copy is missing from the box, though this doesn’t really bother me much (and it saves the trees).
It was plug and play in both my Macbook Air, Macbook Pro (work laptop) and my PC, no drivers or apps/programs were needed and it worked with Zoom immediately.
The picture quality is crystal clear, I’m not sure it’s true 4K in all honesty, but probably a nice scaled HDR version (you honestly can’t really tell the difference). It is a noticeable difference from the built-in webcam in the MacBooks and is slightly better overall than the more well-known brand (Logitech).
I honestly have zero complaints and I’m quite pleasantly surprised, it’s very, very good, especially at this price point. You’d be hard-pushed to find a better one for the same price or less.
My last point is the privacy slider, I’ve never had a webcam which has one, and it provides extra peace of mind, it’s a nice little edition and you can just slide it along to block the camera. There’s too much dodgy stuff that goes on these days and you can never be too careful.
I think there could be improvements made to the in-built mic though, it isn’t the best, but for the price and picture quality, coupled with the ease of use, you can’t really complain too much.
4/5 – Great Product!
I’ve used a variety of webcams over the last couple of years, and this is the best. It’s not perfect – nothing is, in this price bracket at least, and the microphone particularly is a bit weak – but it gives a remarkably good picture.
As I write this, it’s priced at 39.99 – so not much for a 4k webcam, and well below many of the big names and really spectacular devices. For that reason, it’s no surprise that it won’t match the best image quality – still less that of a DSLR or a good phone – but it is good for what it is.
It’s not just that it is 4k. 4k is nice, especially for filming, but if you are going to use this for videoconferencing, Zoom, Teams etc, probably overkill as people won’t get the full image, whether due to bandwith or inadequate screens; and frankly if you are filming you should probably get a real camera. It’s a solid budget option for some youtube, though, provided your lighting is good, and you don’t need a high frame-rate.
More importantly, it just has a good, clear, sharp picture with decent colours. Presumably the lens is pretty decent. It’s a huge upgrade from the lower quality webcams I’ve used (let alone my laptop’s built in camera), which tend to leave my beard a blurry smudged mass. It’s nice, crisp, and professional.
The other features are good too: it has an excellent and substantial privacy shutter; a clamp that works pretty well to secure to the top of the monitor (these are never perfect, but this is a good one); a tripod screw so that you can mount it to a tripod or moveable arm; and, for me at least, perfect plug-and-play performance, without drivers, faff or trouble of any kind.
My main criticism is that the microphone isn’t great – it needs to be right in front of you to work. That will be fine for some, but if you have a complex setup (multiple screens/monitor light bars/etc like me) then you won’t want to rely on it. I found that in my situation it doesn’t pick up that well – better to use a pair of earbuds or a separate mic. That’s not unusual at this price point, however, so I’m not dropping a star for that.
I am reviewing a plug and play 4K webcam, priced 39.99 at time of ordering.
Inside the box was the webcam with integrated USB A cable, a USB A to USB C adapter, a booklet thanking me for buying and an otherwise blank QC card. Notably absent was a manual of any kind, but thankfully the webcam worked straight away after plugging it into a USB A port on a laptop running Linux. The camera on my laptop is very old so this one is a huge improvement; the image is very clear and it copes much better with low light. However I am unable to comment whether it achieves 4K as claimed since I do not have a screen of this resolution to display it on.
One of my favourite features is the privacy cover as I can slide this over when not using the camera and know for sure that I can no longer be seen, and there is no chance of anyone being able to remotely access my camera. Ironically, this privacy cover is also the cause of the only negative I found — the protective film over the front of the webcam was really hard to remove as it was trapped behind this cover. The part nearest the lift up tab tore away where it met the cover, and I then had to spend ages using my finger nails to prise up the remaining half. This was so frustrating and time consuming that I have docked one star, but would still highly recommend this webcam.
I have spent a lot of money on webcams, and my current webcam was a popular 4k webcam from a popular brand that cost more than 3 times as much as this one. I am going to compare the webcams in the this review.
The main reason I bought the fancy webcam, was for it’s low light performance as I am often on conference calls and hate having the light shining in my face. I have actually tried a lot of webcams and most of them were not good enough.
This one is really good!
The fancy webcam has some weird issues with flickering on Mac OSX. This one works perfectly on Mac OSX!
The fancy webcam works better in low light, but this on is good enough – not perfect but not too dark either.
The picture quality on this one is actually slightly better too!
I didn’t test the built in mic quality as I have a condenser mic I always use, but this one has replaced the expensive camera in my setup. It’s plug and play, has an indicator light that is not too bright, has a privacy shutter and honestly performs excellently.
This is a very good webcam and I would highly recommend it.
Out of the box, the webcam is straightforward to install; simply plug and play without needing a driver. The build quality is good, and the fixing mechanism is easy to adjust; it clamps on securely at the top of my monitor, and it can be manoeuvred for the right presentation angle. I would go as far as to say that the clamping mechanism is the best that I have experienced. The built-in slide cover is a handy feature that glides left to right effortlessly. I like the size of the device; it is compact and suits my purposes. People dialling into my video calls report a clear image and very good sound, which I put down to the quality of the 4K lens and the microphone. The hue is a bit on the bright side but only just , others might find it perfectly acceptable. The wide-angle lens is impressive. I find the auto light adjustment a good feature and negates the need to have a separate remote control to adjust lighting. The webcam is an improvement to the camera on my laptop. Performance-wise, I cannot fault the webcam, and overall, it is as effective as the manufacturer purports. I could not find any instructions, but it is really very simple to set up and once plugged in, you don’t need to do anything. I recommend this product.
The webcam was tested on a laptop and a desktop, both running Windows 11, and with Teams, Zoom and OBS.
The camera appears sturdy and well made. The adjustable mount holds the camera securely on the edge of the screen. The mount has a handy threaded insert on the bottom making it easy to attach to a tripod. The camera tilts and pivots on the stand, to assist positioning. The cable is permanently attached to the camera body, with a USB A connector on the other end. Helpfully, a small USB A — C adapter is included in the box. There’s also a sliding privacy shield that can be used to block the camera lens, when not in use.
Setup was easy, with Windows 11 automatically detecting and configuring the camera and the built in microphones. The camera worked well with all the tested software. The resolution tops out at an impressive 4000 x 3000 pixels, but obviously at the expense of framerate. You should take the time to experiment to find the resolution & fps that works best for your use case.
Overall, an impressive piece of kit, especially at this price point. If you need a webcam to replace the poor quality one built into your laptop, this could do nicely.
The Webcam delivers exceptionally clear and vibrant video quality at 4K resolution, making it ideal for professional and personal use alike. Its AI autofocus and auto light adjustment ensure you always look your best, even in less-than-ideal lighting. The dual noise-cancelling microphones are great for clear audio, free from background noise. It’s also super convenient with its plug-and-play setup and a privacy cover for when the camera is not in use. Overall, it’s a reliable choice for anyone looking to enhance their video calling experience.
This product comes in a cardboard box. As of reviewing, it costs 39.99. I think this is a good price for a 4 K web camera.
The camera unit itself, with a fixed USB lead, a USB adapter, and a small instruction leaflet are in the box.
The camera feels pretty sturdy and has a plastic rip-off cover to prevent the front of the unit from getting scratched. It has a clip, so you can attach it to your monitor or something else near your computer or mobile device.
A feature I really appreciate is the ability to cover the camera with a sliding cover. I also like that it has a 4K camera, which looks pretty good. There is also a built-in microphone, and it can tilt up and down.
The camera is well priced. I recommendthisproduct.
Great Camera with amazing picture quality, the auto focus works very well. Only one annoying thing is the cable is sturdy and sometimes in the way. Build quality is OK and has privacy window nice. Adjustable mountable tripod stand. Software not included but windows 11 will recognise the camera straight away. Recommended thank you.
This is detected as a standard USB webcam, ID 3054:8888 Image+ Fic760xUsbCamera, on Ubuntu 24.04.
Although it looks rather similar to another one I’ve tried recently, this one works rather well.
At the high end, it offers a 4000×3000 pixel resolution as well lower ones, including widescreen ones that simply don’t transmit the top and bottom of the 4:3 frame. Is it using a 12MP sensor? Possibly, because the detail in the background looks sharp, but the only way to know would be to open it up.
Apart from the way that you can’t easily remove the silly sliding ‘privacy cover’, the only issue is that it’s distinctly sensitive to the lighting. It will cope with lower light levels, it works best in brighter ones, but it really doesn’t like having the light source in view or even hitting the webcam’s lens at an angle.
At 40 minus 8 via the stupid tickbox ‘voucher’, this is definitely worth considering – it is vastly better than the built-on webcam in this laptop – if you have good control over the lighting.
Reviewed at 39.99 (less a 20% voucher = 32)
The image seems pretty clear in comparison to my other cameras. Not sure it it is 4k, but for Zoom calls via a work VPM this is irrelevant as they reduce bandwidth.
An advantage over my other cameras is that there are enough connection options and hinges to to allow me to point it as I want
The slide over lens cover is “old School” – but does the job and makes it easy to tell if you have privacy
I did not have a usb video camera, so i grabbed this one. In the box you get the camera, usb cable and usb-c adaptor. There was no manual in the box, just a purchase card. It also has a clip mounted on the underside of the camera, it took me a moment to figure out how the clip works, as at first I couldnt sit the camera securely, then I sort of figured out you have to raise the two part clip upwards so you can mount the camera at almost any point on your screen including the side, not sure how secure it will be though, but the camera also allows for some rotation as well.
There is no software included, so you will need your own, if you have windows then the basic built in camera app will do the job. Its basic but it does work. You can make color/brighteness/contrast adjustments and rotation aspects of the camera too. The camera is fairly sturdy and also has a slide over lens protector for privacy. Audio works well, and the quality of the image is good, I dont actually have a 4k tv, so cant say for 100% the output is 4k, even my laptop is only 3.5k resolution max, but the quality was good and the autofocus function works well.
Pros: Easy to setup. has a privacy cover, 4k, tripod mountable, autofocus.
Cons: usb standard cable, requires usb-c adaptor (included).
Price at review: 34.99
So this feels a little cheaply made. It does work pretty well though. I selected the YUV source instead of MJPEG otherwise it was really dimly lit picture. The auto-focus is very good and can handle things even very close to the camera.
The microphones work well and I like that it has a physical slide shutter.
Overall it is a perfectly workable webcam. I’m not really convinced about the 4K resolution but maybe my webcam software just didn’t want to capture at that level but the picture quality was fine for my needs.
