I am delighted to say that for the money I paid these intercom blue tooth communicators are brilliant. They are easy to set p and install in my helmet. I have not been disappointed in any way.
This is a set of equipment to make almost any crash helmet Bluetooth enabled.
It comes in a printed retail carton with instructions on how to install it.
The head unit can be clipped or stuck with sticky pads (Included) on the side of the helmet.
A rainproof plug in the bottom of the head unit has the headphones and a microphone with appropriate lengths of light weight wire between each part so you can position them to suit your needs.
The speakers and microphone are all fixed in place with sticky pads with Velcro to hold the electronics in place, also there is a second microphone on a boom included so you can use this on an open faced helmet as well.
At the time of review this was one of the least expensive Bluetooth set ups available on amazon and because it works well enough for speech and music can be listened too on it and everything you need is included in the box I have to say it is a good buy at least at the current price.
Happy to help!
Easy to install and use, great sound quality and noise cancellation. Item arrived very well packed, so excellent start, perfect size and more important top quality looks and feels great , for the price can’t fault it, 10 out of 10 from me very happy indeed and would purchase agai
This Bluetooth headset has become an essential part of my motorcycle rides. The sound quality is surprisingly good, even at higher speeds, and the noise reduction technology makes a real difference in clarity. I love the automatic answer feature, which is super convenient when I’m on the go. The battery life is impressive, lasting for several long rides before needing a charge.
Sadly, I didn’t get on with this helmet accessory. It is a method of connecting to a mobile phone by Bluetooth, which allows access to making and receiving calls, listening to the radio (if your phone has one) or to streaming services such a Spotify. It also provides an intercom to the user of another similar accessory set – who may be pillion or on another bike (the range is apparently up to 200 metres.)
There are two reasons for this negativity, which is surprising as I am keen on gadgets, especially those that, like this, actually work. One problem is practical but the other is a direct result of why I ride my bike.
First, to the practical problems. I already have an intercom system inside my helmet which allows me to talk to my pillion passenger. It’s a little black box that sits under the saddle and we both plug a lead into a jack socket that dangles from the right rear of our helmets.
The ear pieces are stuck to the lining of my helmet and it took a lot of fiddling to get them placed in the right position. The microphone is stuck to the inside of my helmet’s chin bar. I’ve had the intercom modified so it also connects to a PMR radio, with the pressel switch on my handlebar.
What thw “ZHIDUOXING Motorcycle Bluetooth Headset” does is provide me with an intercom – but I’d have to buy another set for my pillion. Alternatively, I could talk to a fellow rider who had bpught his own set, and who was no more than 200 metres away from me. I’ve already got an intercom with my pillion and we usually get at least two miles with the radios. I’m told better antennas would give even more range.
I was not willing to disturb my existing earpieces which are glued in place so locating the new ones was not optimum, plus I found the additional wires something of a distraction.
Two microphones are provided. One to be stuck inside a chin bar. The other is a boom mic if you have an open face helmet. The control unit is a real problem. There is a backing plate which clips to the bottom edge of your helmet and the control unit slots on top of this. There is also a loop for a lanyard so it doesn’t get lost if it flies off, The principal control button is an inch in diameter. Other buttons are tiny. I only ride in summer but I still wear thick gloves!
Quite apart from the practicalities, I drive a car but driving is a chore, a way to get from A to B and if there ever are real self driving cars I want one, Driving is no longer fun. However, I ride a bike for pleasure, for the exposure, for the sense of being a part of my bike. I carry a mobile phone for emergencies, not for answering calls. I listen to the radio or CD player in my car. I listen to the engine noise and wind rush (and occasional comments from behind) on my bike. It turns out this system does not fit my habits.
There is, of course, another side to this. Firstly, people who ride motorbikes for business rather than pleasure may find this system ideal. Whether couriers really want constant calls from head office is another matter. The pleasure rider who isn’t already wired up may find this a convenient starting point.
Finally, the gear is well made, and apart from the controls, well thought out. Even more interesting for a potential purchaser, this set sells for a great price compared to the competition.
I was in a quandary about how I should rate this. It has turned out it is not for me, but that does not detract from its admirable qualities. Objectively, it does a good job, is well made, and sells for very good price. On that basis, I cannot do other than give it five stars.
