I used this in my car stereo and it did a great job at removing static/fuzzy noise from music when using an aux. cord. It makes the music clearer. I like that it comes with an extra cord as well.
I got this two pack for two purposes; to reduce the buzzing on my car stereo from my Bluetooth transmitter that is plugged into the aux jack. It did a great job on this front, as the sound is noticeably clearer and all sign of the buzz is gone. For the second purpose, I got this to reduce the hum from my first generation Echo Dot that is plugged into an old set of Logitech computer speakers in my bedroom. I’m not sure why, but for this case, it makes the buzzing way worse. I am willing to give this product the benefit of the doubt though, as they are very finicky speakers. Overall, I would recommend this.
I didn’t realize what a hum problem I had until this fixed it for me. Very pleased indeed with these ground loop isolators from ZIOCOM. I was experiencing buzz/hum in the speakers connected to my music laptop, and I thought I just had to live with it until I discovered this. Such a simple solution. Love it.
This little thing did the trick for my old car stereo Auxilliary connection to the CarPlay system I installed! No more buzzing, clear sound, and a relatively cheap solution! Thank you!
The ZIOCOM Ground Loop Isolator is a good solution for that annoying buzz or hum.
I tested these isolators on an amplified speaker that hums. Perfect. The hum was gone immediately.
Insertion loss seems minimal. I didn’t notice any loss at all. If there is a slight loss it is not important.
I tested frequency coverage and also found no issues over the audio range of 20 Hz to 20 KHz. Just fine for audio purposes.
The quality is fine plastic construction. No need for more in this case. For high quality audio at low levels they should be in a metal case, but we are not talking studio quality devices here.
Very happy with this product at the $25 price for 2.
Plugging this into some poorly isolated microphone monitoring outputs practically removed the hum and buzz I had.
Your volume will also drop about 2 volume steps though, but I didn’t notice any sound quality degradation in the highs and lows. Id imagine its using a low pass filter to accomplish this but the enclosure made with plastic doesn’t seem to have a way to non-destructively ope
The ZIOCOM Ground Loop Isolator (2 Pack) is of decent build quality. It has a 1:1 transformer-based design that separates the grounds between the input and the output. I tested this with a multimeter, and indeed, the input and output grounds are separated and the transformer winding ratio is 1:1. Given its transformer design, the input and output are interchangeable, with a gain slightly less than 1 due to transformer loss.
Currently, I don’t have a ground loop noise problem, but this tool proves handy when such a problem arises. I tested the sound quality of the isolator and found it hardly noticeable when inserted, unless one has an audio switch to compare the before and after audio instantaneously. I did that and noticed that the high-frequency components of the audio had been slightly rolled off. However, if you’re already experiencing a ground loop problem with noisy audio, this is a small price to pay to clean up the audio.
Overall, I find the ground loop isolators very handy, with 2 cables included. I am fully prepared to troubleshoot any ground loop problem if it arises in the future. I am happy with my order.
I use these to remove the background chatter and hum which cheap USB chargers seem to put onto the ground signal. It is effective. I haven’t tested the frequency response of the audio signal to see if it has a low cut off and therefore filters out low end, for most occasions this will not be a problem.
If used in a good sound system it would be a better idea to eliminate the problem at source and not hide the problem, but for an all round quick fix these do the job.
I have a setup where I have a mixer in place so that I could share my desktop speakers with my Laptop and my Desktop PCs. I was often getting a hum, and some research suggested is was a ground loop issue. This arrived and I plugged it in and launched the program that made the hum the worst and no hum. Well worth it in my case.
I am using these for small Synths that have Audio outs and USB to PC connections that have ground loop noise when connected to both, these Isolators do a good job filtering out the noise in your audio output, plus you get two in a pack.
