35mm Slide and Film Viewer, 3X Magnification LED Lighted Illuminated Viewing, USB Powered/Battery Operation-for 35mm Slides & Positive Film Negatives (4AA Batteries Included)
This slide viewer lets you view 35mm slides on a largish brightly lit screen, It has an auto feed for the 35mm slides which is handy. You can also view 35mm negatives, but being negatives they still have colour and object inversion, The feed of the negatives is not so good, as you have to manually slide them through and often some manoeuvring is required to get them to line up. The unit is powered by supplied batteries but can also be powered with the supplied USB-C cable which is super handy. The unit feels well made and does what it says it can do in the item description.
The 35mm Slide and Film Viewer has brought my old memories back to life. Its 3X magnification is perfect for viewing my tiny slides without any distortion. The LED light makes the images bright and clear, which is great for sharing with family.
One Sunday afternoon, I decided to show my kids some old family slides. We gathered around the viewer, and they were fascinated by the vivid images. The viewer’s simple design made it easy to switch between slides, keeping everyone engaged.
The viewer is lightweight and portable, so I can take it anywhere. Whether powered by USB or batteries, it’s convenient to use. The included batteries were a nice touch, allowing us to start viewing right away.
The real glass lens provides crisp details, making the photos look almost new. The eject button and slide trays are user-friendly, making the whole experience enjoyable.
In short, this slide viewer has been a delightful addition to our home. It’s easy to use, portable, and brings old photos to life. If you have a collection of slides or negatives, this viewer is a wonderful way to revisit those cherished moments.
35mm Slide and Film Viewer, 3X Magnification LED Lighted Illuminated Viewing:
I think that if you find yourself working with negatives a lot or you have a project to go through a lot of them this might be helpful to speed up the process and get a clearer idea what is on them.
From a personal stand point, if I was doing this, I would want a way to then scan the image and then transfer it to a computer, so in my mind this item falls short but that is not what it claims to do.
I wouldn’t waste batteries to power this when there is a USB power option.
Short rubber feet or padding would have been helpful on the base to reduce sliding for those using it with one hand.
I ordered this slide and film viewer from DigitConvert to help try and sort out boxes of old slides, photographs and films .
You know how we used to get films developed and there were one or two great photos and the rest were sort of naff but we kept the packets and films anyway ? The same with boxes and boxes of old slides some from my dad collection.
This viewer is compact with separate slots for slide or film – a choice of battery power (4 x AA included) or connect via the also included usb cable to a power bank, which is what I did..
First the slides – magnified 3 x and lit from behind by LED bulbs on pressing the button. A good magnification to view without blurring but still clear enough to see detail. Once viewed these drop down into a little tray which is a bit fiddly and I removed individually anyway to separate into keep and throw piles.
Its worth noting that the plastic framed slides were easier to view and handle than those framed in cardboard . Some of these older slides were not as flat and got caught but a little shake got them through.
The film feeder, again, easy to use – make sure the film is flat and long enough to feed and pull out the other side. The negative image clear to see , also magnified 3 x .
Of solid construct with a glass lens , easy to clean and clear viewing . A lens cleaner is included , which also helps keeps off the dust. A simple slide and film viewer which has helped us sort and reminisce through 100s of pictures.
I inherited a slide viewer from my Dad, but over the years it has sadly been falling apart. So, when the opportunity to try this one presented itself I was very pleased.
It is a compact unit so does not take up a lot of storage space, yet the displayed image size is easily large enough to sift through your old negatives and arrange them for viewing on a projector carousel, if you have one!
The ability to also look through film strips is new to me, and is a very welcome additional feature. Being negatives, they are not great for viewing as a photo or slide would be, but it is a great help in identifying which images you might want to be reprinted, rather than tryin g to hold the strip up against the light.
All in all this is a well thought through device, with dual power modes also featured.
This slide and film viewer is functional and does a good job of viewing 35mm slides and negatives with its 3X magnification and LED illumination. It’s powered by either USB or 4 AA batteries, making it convenient for various setups. However, it’s important to note that while it’s great for basic viewing, it falls short when it comes to capturing photos of negatives. It doesn’t serve as an alternative to a digital slide scanner or a DSLR setup with a macro lens for high-quality scans. It’s best suited for those who simply want to view and enjoy their slides and negatives, not for those looking to digitize them.
I haven’t had a slide viewer for a long time, but I always used to like them, it was fascinating how such a simple device could create such a bright large image.
That’s still true, and I still have some old slides, and certainly many film negative strips, so this will get plenty of use. I never had a slide viewer that could also be used to view film strips.
I like the removable batteries, I prefer them to sealed-in batteries that inevitably fail long before the device. The option to power it using a USB cable is handy too, you could even power this off your phone. It’s a pity the USB cable can’t also charge the batteries if you use rechargeable AA batteries.
It’s solidly constructed and the light and lens produce a vibrant sharp image with even lighting. Film strips work fine, it’s a simple device, but the slide mechanism seems overly complex, it would be easier to just have a dip where the slide goes in so you can pull it out again, that’s how I would expect it to work. The ‘automation’ of the tray system works fine though.
I tested it out with a film cartoon strip! I photographed it, but it’s difficult to photograph well, you can get an idea of how images look from my pictures. In reality, the image looks larger when looking through the lens.
If you have slides or film strips you want to examine or show, or want to experiment with this retro piece of technology it’s a good choice. It’s simple and easy to use.
With its solid, simple construction and fair price I’m happy with it, I’m just not sure about the slide eject system, but that might just be me!
I liked this viewer that can be used sitting at a table or be passed around to family and friends as it will run off the inluded four AA batteries or via a USB charger which is not supplied. It comes with a USB lead but this is rather short at approximately 32 inches but If I am using it on a table top I connect my power bank to it and it works perfectly. The led back-light, which is operated by a push button on/off switch lights the slide evenly and gives a sharp focused image with no bright spots. The slide is inserted into the viewer at the top and it drops into place where it is held. After viewing it a single press of a release button drops it into a tray,They tray has the capacity to hold approximately half a dozen slides but this depends on the slide mounts which can vary in thickness. I liked that the lens elements are made of glass and less likely to be scratched. A cleaning cloth is supplied to remove the inevitable fingerprints and dust from the surface when required. Apart from my many slides i also have packets of negatives in strips that are difficult to identify. by just holding them up to the light.I can slide them into this viewer and see exactly what’s on them with ease. I own a slide projector and screen but this is a lot of trouble to set up consequently I have not looked at my large collection of 35mm slides for years.I have enjoyed seeing them again using this handy viewer and I am going to have a get together with the family and relive some memories and I would recommend this to anyone who needs a quick and convenient way to view their slide and negatives collection.
I recently picked up this handy little gadget to take a trip down memory lane with some old family slides, and it’s been a fantastic purchase. First off, if you’ve got a stack of old slides and want to relive those moments, this viewer is exactly what you need! The images are clear and detailed, and it really brings those old memories to life. The LED lighting is bright and even, making it easy to see every detail without straining my eyes. I was worried the colors might look washed out, but the seem fairly vibrant and true to the originals.
One of the standout features is the dual power options. It can run on USB power or the included 4 AA batteries, making it super versatile. Whether I’m at home near an outlet or on the go, I can always power it up. The battery operation is especially handy for when I want to sit on the couch and go through slides without being tethered to a wall.
Setting it up was straightforward. Just pop in the slides, and you’re good to go. The build quality is solid and it feels durable enough to last through many viewing sessions. The compact size also means it’s easy to store away when not in use.
Overall, this slide viewer has been brilliant. It’s brought back so many wonderful memories and made it easy to share them with the family. If you’ve got a collection of old slides, this viewer is a must-have. Highly recommended!
I really have been looking forward to trying this slide viewer because my dad used to take so many slides loads of the 35mm slides are from the 1960s and 1970s. He was a brilliant photographer and sadly is no longer with us, so this is great to relive my youth and earlier.
I too love my photography, I guess I got it from my parents, although everything I do these days is digital, there are many 35mm negatives that I have from an abundance of different SLR cameras that I have had over the years.
This device is so simple to use, particularly for 35mm slides. Put a slide in the viewer at the top, remembering to take it from the back of your slides to keep them in order.
The viewer is nice and bright and at 3 inches, the screen is a good size, the slides are so easy to view, and, if you are a nostalgic like me, you will enjoy seeing all the pictures from your youth.
The viewer is quite a bit larger than some that I have seen too. It can be either powered by batteries or electricity. Although the cable is very short, it should have been at least 1.5 to 2 metres, as viewing it on a desk means you need to plug it into a power bank if you don’t have close high level sockets.
To view negatives, you have to slide the filmstrip through the side by hand to view the photos, this does work fine to get an idea of what’s on there, just remember the image is reversed in colours.
The overall quality of the viewer is brilliant.
In the box you get:
1 x Slide viewer
4 x AA batteries
1 x Cleaning cloth
1 x DC power cable
1 x User manual
Overall, this is an excellent viewer for slides and negatives, and at 19.99 it is good value.
