This worked perfectly to resurrect my old Wii on a new Samsung TV.
Perfect picture and sound.
A big plus this also works with my HDMI switch so now the 3 game consoles only take up 1 HDMI port.
Gave away old TV that had composite input, so needed HDMI from the wii to work with the newer TV, did some research, chose this unit, all works fine. Clean image, no blurring, no diagonal interference lines.
Be sure to set TV in wii settings to EDTV
I don’t know what the engineers did here but for a plug and play hdmi connected to my 55″ Panasonic the picture quality dramatically improved to where I’m not going to mod the Wii to hdmi on the main circuit board. For 14 pounds it’s a steal. Go buy it now and see the pictures.
Had bought another Wii adaptor which didn’t work at all. This one was literally plug ‘n play. Impressed. One thing to remember to do is go into your setting, screen, TV type and change to EDTV. The adaptor will upscale to 720p (Wii native output is 420) The other thing is under screen setting, select widescreen options and select 16:9. Also the cable is a decent length. I’m back to swinging my Wii controller all over the place!
I review only once I’ve used the produc
I have a modern smart TV which doesn’t accept the old av (red, white and yellow) connections. This means that I have to use a hdmi converter to play my retro video games consoles.
I had a partial solution to this as i had bought a hdmi converter previously which works for most old consoles but wasn’t able to display games with 60hz only output (the screen flickers uncontrollably) . This means that games like Metroid Prime 2 Echoes and zelda collection wouldn’t play on my TV. I had to set my Wii to display at 50hz only and the 3rd option after 60hz was all greyed out. I also noticed that the screen was a little blurry and not as crisp as you’d want. I then tried a converter that was specifically for the Wii however it just displayed a green screen.
After months I finally decided to give this one a shot and as soon as I booted up the Wii I was very surprised. Not only was the screen displaying colour it was much, much more crisp and clean compared to what it was before. I immediately went to display options to test 60hz and to my surprise all three options were available (non greyed out). I clicked on 60hz first and hoped that it would work and it absolutely did. Even the third option works perfectly!
I have since tested Metroid Prime 2 Echoes (a 60hz only game) and an happy that it runs smoothly. It even let’s me play games that I was playing before with improved nicer visuals. I am a very happy bunny.
