Magsafe mounts are genius and make life so easy when driving. This is a good mount with excellent magnetic pull and really top-tier adhesion to wherever – normally a dashboard, but mine is attached to the shelf above the windscreen. You really *can* twist and reposition the mount over and over, which is great.
But I can’t use it as my normal mount for one very good reason – there’s no charging with it. I’d have to plug in a USB cable to charge while using it – or more accurately to power the phone, given how much juice Android Auto with all the trimmings can demand – and having to have a lead plugged in sort of defeats the point of the instant grab of a Magsafe mount.
So that, together with the rather high price, means I wouldn’t buy it for myself (I received it to review, so I haven’t). It’s a great design but once you’re looking over 20 I think you need to expect the charging as well. The design and quality deserves the four stars but, without being able to keep the power coming, for me it’s only able to be used when parked up (ie on Family Taxi duty).
I have purchased several products from the Baseus brand over the years, and I still have every item that I bought as they are all still going strong, with the oldest item being a handheld vacuum, that has a suction power equivalent, if not better than the best selling brand in the Market. That was purchased about 4 years ago so that give you some kind of indication as to the durability of their products.
I love the rather trendy looking design of this magnetic phone holder. It has an oval shaped base, inline with the shape of the arm that has to stick to it. The base attaches to the dashboard, or wherever you are installing it, using a very strong 3M sticky pad, with the top side have some extremely strong Velcro on it, and that is what allows the arm to kind of snap on and off as it can be easily peeled off the Velcro when needed and then be put back on with all the strength that it originally had. Basically it is your typical hook and loop design that you get with Velcro, but it seems a lot finer and therefore a lot stronger. Very thoughtfully they have included a spare adhesive pad which is rather reassuring as just can’t remain in tip top condition over time, especially if you are pulling the arm off and on all the time.
The actual arm is the bit that that makes this so versatile, as when you bend the arm, it stays in the position that you bent it to. It’s also covered in a lovely rubbery material. If you have a look at the advert pictures you can see the weird and wonderful positions they have bent the arm into, and I can also confirm that this material is definitely capable of being bent into those positions very easily.
I purchased a very similar one of these car holders for my other car a few weeks ago and when I reviewed it I said was my most favourite car holder to date, but this is about 90% identical to the previous one I got, with a few cosmetic changes, and as functionality and design wise this is almost identical, it has to be up there with the other car holder. Hopefully I can now see which one lasts longer and be able to re-adjust the grade I have given one of them as I guess the only other thing that would distinguish between them is their durability. Only time will tell on that front, but I love this one just as much as the other one and this definitely gets 5 stars as well.
I ordered the Baseus C02 Car Phone Holder Magnetic, Magsafe Car Mount Dashbord [2024 Powerful Upgrade] Univesal Phone Stand Compatible for iPhone, Samsung, Phone.
This phone holder attaches via a strong sticky pad that you attach wherever you want. The main body of the phone holder then attaches onto this pad. A circular magnet on the back of your phone attaches to the bottom of the phone holder.
At the time of reviewing this product was priced at 22.99. I think that this is quite expensive for this product. Plus it is a disadvantage that you have to stick the pad somewhere on your dash and wouldn’t be movable.
Nevertheless this phone holder is easy to use and does the required job.
This is an effective phone holder that isn’t too obtrusive, unlike some that seem to dominate the windscreen and dashboard.
This one is attached using a supplied sticky pad that has Velcro for fastening the actual holder. The arm is bendable to get it in the best position for viewing. It is easy to bend whilst being stiff enough to stay in position. There is a spare pad supplied in case you want to move it or use it in two cars. Adhesion is good and it stays in place well.
The phone is attached magnetically, either using the magnetic properties of the phone or by attaching a supplied magnetic ring to the phone or phone case. this works well and the phone is held firmly. It is possible to wave the arm around without the phone coming off.
The only negative point I have found is that with the magnetic ring attached to the case my wireless charger no longer works. This may just be a combination of my case and wireless charger but it is worth checking if wireless charging is important for to you. Personally it isn’t a big deal for me and the convenience of the phone holder outweighs the negatives and I suspect I would have the same issue with any holder that requires a magnetic ring to be attached. I can still charge wirelessly by removing the case.
This isn’t cheap but it looks good and works well and I have been very pleased with it.
I was really happy to find this mount, as I’ve been struggling to find one that worked well with my car. Most of the mounts out there which are designed to clip to the air vent wont work with the circular vents in my car, and those designed to stick to the dashboard put the phone in front of the screen, which is both impractical, and illegal in the UK.
This one is ideal, with a sturdy flexible bar which you can stick to the dash and bend to the optimal position. The bar is very sturdy and quite heavy so it hold the phone nice and stable, and it was easy to position it in a good spot just above the car’s own display, without obscuring the windscreen, so if you use your phone as a sat-nav, you can put it in a good position where it will blend into the dashboard nicely.
It comes with a spare velco pad which means you could use it in two locations (or two cars) which is a nice touch. Overall I’m really happy with this and it’s now a permanent fixture in my car 🙂
This comes with two sticky pad bases that attach with 3M sticky tape on one side and a velcro covering to attach the magnetic phone holder to the base. The sticky pad is flexible and stuck well to the glass and the dash although it didn’t stick as well to the dash due to the leather embossed design on my dash (Anything with a bit of weight struggles to stay stuck to that). However it did stick only time will tell if it remains attached. I have no such worries with it attached to the glass. The neck of the magnetic holder is flexibe so you can angle it in various positions. Simple to install and easy to use.
I’ve tested a similar car phone holder recently, but it ended up being no good for where I wanted to place it, but this has much better sticking and so I was able to be use it on my dashboard with no issues.
It comes with a unique fixing mount in that the holder can be removed from the strip, so this allow it to be easily used in multiple locations and they provide an additional adhesive pad to allow you to do so. Fortunately, this design doesn’t take away from the security of the product and I had no issues with it falling off even after driving on some tricky roads.
The RRP is on the higher side as for this range I would have expected some charging capabilities like with others I’ve tested. If you can find it on promotion (as it is currently) it becomes much better value and something I would recommend over cheaper alternatives — even more so if you want something flexible in form and positioning.
