Its a shame to see 2 different bloatware options all over the packaging as it takes away a little from what is a fantastic and great little NVME drive.
Installing is simple m.2 type fare, even in a non-gen 4 slot its giving excellent read write speeds. The temps barely move although when i moved it to my gen 4 motherboard it does hit the upper 50’s so something to consider if installing into a laptop.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic price no bloat but is there

The Crucial P310 1TB SSD M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe Gen4 arrived a few days ago for testing.
I only have a PCIe 3 x 4 NVME slot on my motherboard.. So testing for a gen 3 card if you only have one of those. Pictures attached using CrystalDiskInfo , CrystalDiskMark , AS SSD , HD Tune Pro.
Pretty much maxes out the gen3 speeds on CrystalDiskMark.
The drive is DRAM less , Tested with HD Tune Pro , Looks like the speed drops after long writing, slightly under 200GB. Very few people will need to write that much. Reading is fine , they use a lot more effort on writing I think.
Idle temperature was around 30C.. After extended writing it got up to 51C.
I’ve seen a few reviews on the internet and it can get up to 80C with lots of writing on a gen4 port. Maybe get a heat sink if required. I think a new one will come out with a heatsink on it.
Other reviews have suggested it pretty much the best DRAM less NVME. Very similar claimed speeds also.

5.0 out of 5 stars All good so far..

This couldn’t have been timed better. I just upgraded my motherboard, processor, CPU Cooler and RAM and Case.

Kept my aging Enermax NOISETAKER PSU, it’s more than capable of powering this system.

All that was left to replace was the M.2 SSD. I was using an ADATA 500GB disk with maximum read speeds of 3519MB/s and write speeds of 1104MB/s. So when I was given the opportunity to review this Crucial 1TB P310 I jumped at the chance so I could replace my older storage.

I used an USB adapter for the cloning process. It was a little slow over USB 3.0 read and write above 400MB/s. And swapped them over after the cloning was completed. The software was ACRONIS provided by Crucial downloaded directly from their support section of their website.

I used the automatic wizard and it expanded the partition on the larger Crucial 1TB drive automatically for me. Total time to completion was probably under 30 minutes. I expected longer because of the USB adapter but was pleasantly surprised at how fast it was.

Once I swapped the disk over it booted immediately into Windows. I ran Crystal Disk Info and Crystal Disk 8 to monitor both temperature and performance.

The read speeds exceeded 7227MB/s and write speeds exceeded 6129MB/s. This is very respectable as it is more than double the speeds of the old one!

It looks so slim, the PCB must be about 1 or 2mmn thick and blends in with motherboard so well it’s almost camouflaged. And temperature remained low, 36 degrees and lowest was 26.

Overall a very fast drive, high in capacity, low temperatures, and cloning could not be any simpler using ACRONIS software.

5.0 out of 5 stars Major Upgrade with Acronis Clone Disk Drive Software.

Crucial does it best, Installed inside the Galaxy Book 3, even thou the laptop had 256GB SSD it was fast boot, so this gave even fast boot times and increased storage. Easy install

Please note you can also use this with an external enclosure if you want to use as a external hard drive

Skim readers: The speeds possible are much higher than I had the means to test it with (bear that in mind when you see my speed numbers).

So Crucial are one of the best known brands for SSDs, memory and RAM, and I was delighted to get the chance to try this out.

What’s special about this SSD is it’s NVME gen 4 which enables it in theory to get up to 7100 megabytes per second read speeds, and equally very high write speeds. SSDs are the fastest type of data storage around and are essential to anyone doing modern gaming or video editing. They are also very low power and much smaller than conventional hard drives… if you didn’t know that already.

These speeds are pretty insane if you have the kit to use it with. To get those higher speeds, you need a device which is gen 4 NVME. But of course this drive is backwards compatiable with earlier NVME versions.

I didn’t want to take my whole laptop apart in order to test this stick in a native NVME slot so I ran it through an external USB 3, NVME adapter. Theoretically top speeds should be around 500 mb/second and on my testing I got figures at or over 400mb /second. You’ll see my pictures, set up and speed tests attached to this review.

I’m confident this could go a whole lot faster in the right device and slot too. I ran it like this because it I will likely use at as an external drive. Therefore as a tinkerer whose messed around a lot with computers since I was a lad, from what I’ve seen, I’m very confident in recommending this drive to others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Big brand, reliable, ultra fast storage!

I did a DiY install of a much more bigger capacity of SSD for my Steam Deck OLED. Based from its description, this is one of the fastest and affordable SSD cards that I can find here in Amazon. This fits and works perfectly with my device.

Giving it 4 stars for now as the only drawback that I can see/find is that I’m hoping that it’ll last a long time of use even though the endurance of this SSD is just only 440 TBW, as compared to other SSD brands which has higher number with regards to this matter.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works perfectly fine with my Steam Deck OLED!

It’s incredible how much speed you get out of something so small. And the capacity as well. Drives have come a long way.

One key aspect of this is the controller used. And NVME, even cheap ones, can have fast read and write speeds. But as an operating system drive there’s more to it than that. I’ve had cheap drives that slow down when doing multiple tasks. This drive excels at doing everything.

The extra speed isn’t exactly hugely noticeable in a handheld gaming device. That’s not a reflection on this product, more that the system isn’t powerful enough to take full advantage of the speed. You do still get faster load and boot times though.

Given the cost is basically the same as a gen 3 drive it makes sense to invest in something like this. The quality is there for it to last a long time in a current handheld and probably a few generations that will take more advance of it.

Installing it was easy but that will depend on your handheld. It’s an NVME drive at the end of the day, installs just like any other.

Overall it’s very fast, well priced and I’m very happy with it.

Purchased this for extra Mac storage and backups. The speed is mind blowing, a 2gb movie file takes around 2 seconds to transfer from Mac to SSD. For info: I purchased the Dockcase Mini SSD enclosure to store it.
