I bought the Hokusai shell for a DS Lite I got off eBay recently with a broken hinge, the tutorial they provide on YouTube is very comprehensive and easy to follow, a bit slow maybe if you’re familiar with DSL reshelling already. They provide many spare bits like screws and springs/metal bars for the shoulder triggers, which I really appreciate, I assembled this with just the provided tools and there were no issues.
It has a really nice feel too it and closes fairly nicely, couldn’t get the screws in for the bottom assembly quite as nicely as I’d hope but this is common with aftermarket shells in my experience. Nevertheless it looks gorgeous and is a nice easy project if you take your time. Definitely tempted to buy other shells in the future, very impressed with extremeRate’s work.
Ich arbeite schon lange mit Nintendo Ds lite hllen von drittanbieter. Und ich muss sagen die von eXtremeRate sind einfach die besten. Das Video fr den Hllen Tausch ist top. Die Qualitt des Gehuse ist super. Die Schrauben sind sehr gut verarbeitet. Alles in allem und dem ganzen Zubehr ist das einfach das beste was man kaufen kann.

The shell quality is mid, you can definitely tell the difference between a re-shell and a first party shell. But the colors and designs are so worth it, this DS had curling iron burns which ruined the shell. So a shell swap was needed! And the wood looks really nice. Going to get the gold on the next broken DS I find.
This my second shell swap and it looks amazing. Total build time took me about 2 hours as someone else said the Y screws are straight garbage so use the same ones from your original. One thing to note I missing the cylinder needed for the hinge which was present in my last build but was not a big deal as I used the one from the original ds too.
