My old cooler really wasn’t designed for higher end chips and is probably over a decade old at this point. Cooler technology has moved on, in both heatsinks and the fans so it’s time for a new one. Since my CPU is at the bottom of the AM4 stack, I’m planning to grab an X3D CPU when I can, and in the meantime this cooler is doing a great job for me.
It’s very quiet, it’s easy to install, and it’s capable of handling recent processors, including AM4 and current generation AM5 so I’m expecting it to last through my next PC upgrade as well. Realistically the fans are what could fail and I’m not particularly worried about that as it’s fairly rare for decent fans to fail and anyway, they’re replaceable.
It’s worth getting a good cooler for your high end CPU if you’re planning on playing games or doing similarly intensive things that will stretch it. Stock coolers just can’t cope with the heat output of a powerful CPU. You needn’t over spend on it though and if you do need something more capable and expensive than this, then realistically you probably know what you’re doing and will be able to confirm if this is enough cooler for your needs.
Overall I think this is an excellent cooler for the price and capable of handling the majority of CPUs with ease.
Transforming my PC’s performance with this latest cooler has been an absolute game-changer. I used to rely on a much pricier Noctua setup, but this cooler offers comparable (if not better) performance at a fraction of the cost. It effortlessly managed the high demands of my Ryzen 7800X3D, all while remaining nearly silent. Installation was a breeze, making the upgrade process quick and hassle-free.
While I initially had concerns about the potential longevity of this cooler compared to my previous one, even if it only lasts a few years, the price point makes it easy to replace.
Given its innovative design and efficiency, this cooler is a perfect fit for any PC build without breaking the bank. It handled intense gaming sessions and multitasked smoothly, making it a must-have for anyone looking to upgrade their cooling system without compromising on performance or budget.
If you’re looking for fantastic value in cooling, this is it! As a single mum juggling two energetic children, I don’t have the luxury of splurging on every little gadget – but this cooler has proven to be a budget-friendly lifesaver for my PC. Initially, I was quite concerned about its performance given its modest price. I mean, history has taught me that you often get what you pay for. However, I was pleasantly surprised when it managed to keep my system running smoothly during my yoga routines with virtually no noise. The installation was a breeze, even for someone with limited tech skills like myself. Admittedly, I do wonder how long it’ll last compared to pricier alternatives. Yet, given that I could replace it multiple times and still save money, I’m more than satisfied. It’s rare to find something that balances performance and price so perfectly.
Very easy to install and works very well as far as I can tell. I am by no means a computer “builder” but as far as I can see, it falls under the higher end of devices without the higher end prices.
Recommended.
TLDR – how is this such good value giving the same performance as high end? It makes you really question why pay more.
Coming well boxed with small details like an internal pull tab for easy removal this comes as 2 seperate parts, the cooler in one, fans and the mounting attachments, hooks and some thermal paste in the other.
The cooler is nice, large with small accents to cover the uglier parts like the pipe ends. Its a six pipe monstrosity thats all aluminium which initially i would say i prefer copper piping but frankly the performance isnt affected and if nvidia are fine without copper on alot of their graphics card interface it cant be that big a deal.
Installing is one of the best ever and really effortless, you mount the base plates first and the cooler attaches to the legs of your preferred cpu option which vs the one it was replacing is leaps ahead in frustration removal.
And then after youre left with every option you want. I have to admit i did play with this some, going stock, attaching a noctua or 2, the stock fans are rather large and with the ram clearance on the front didnt fit into my slim size case where a noctua would fit in the same from slot but because they supply you with SIX! mounting pins (love the deep legs so they stay on when mounting) you can go from 1-3 fans depending on preference. I’ve literally created a wind tunnel for my cpu from front to directly out the back of the case now (4th fan mounted to the rear of the case, not shown in pics).
The stock fans average 2krpm and are quiet enough at full speed so have been left in.
Lastly the thermal paste is simply weird….it doesnt spread like normal, it curls and lifts but not flaking or as though its gone bad but initially i was going to use my own…then for the sake of the review decided to give it a go. It spreads fine with pressure though after checking with a clear plastic sheet and frankly my thermals went down by 20! degrees on average, there are spikes obviously but the drop is the fastest i’ve had after a 24hr soak test. Infact this thermal paste was so shocking with the cooler and results i applied it to my graphics card and thats now constantly 15 degrees lower than it used to average both being 5-7 degrees lower than they ever were at their highest and this is from a user who only ever stuck with thermal grizzly or noctua pro grade.
Lastly the small point is it is one direction for the mounting method. Some rare instances may have the person want it mounting with the fans facing up/down and its not an option here. It wont apply to 99% of users but worth noting.
This cooler is ridiculously good value. I have a Noctua NH-D15 (the original version) in my old setup and my new one for the last 10 years, and never felt like I needed anything else. But they’re notoriously expensive and so large, that not all cases/setups have enough clearance for them. Thermalright have made waves in the last few years and stolen a lot of Noctua’s thunder, giving great cooler performance for a great price. But even their brilliant Phantom Spirit looks overpriced compared to this FROZN A620 PRO SE. Seriously, this thing is punching at least 3 weight classes above its retail cost. 30 for same/better-than NH-D15 level performance, at about a quarter of the price. Don’t even get me started on Noctua’s gen 2 cooler, which is an absolute rip-off next to this. I couldn’t believe the thermals this thing was reading, for such a supposedly “budget” cooler. It handled my Ryzen 7800X3D with ease. Near-silent too. Installation was easy. I’m going to keep this in my build instead of my Noctua, which is about as high-praise as I can give it. Really, what a beast this thing is. I can’t get over how much performance it gives for the price.
Of course, the real test will be longevity. The Noctua lasted me 10 years, cos despite the high-price, they make things that are built to last. I can’t imagine this will last that long, but even if the fans need replacing in a few years, the fact remains that you can buy FOUR of these CPU coolers for the same price as one NH-D15 today. Unless you have money to burn, you’d have to be a fool not to consider it.
