The Joyreal Wooden Busy Board is a wonderful sensory toy for toddlers! It’s perfect for kids aged 1-3 years, offering various activities that engage fine motor skills. The wooden design is sturdy and safe, and my child loves exploring all the different features. It’s a great gift for both boys and girls, keeping them entertained and learning at the same time. Highly recommend for any parent looking for educational play!
I live the idea of a busy board and was excited to see how my 1 year old got on with one. This says age 1+ but others I’ve seen are for 3+, so I had safety very much I mind to see how they compare.
First up love the soft colours, it’s very attractive and subtle, although I can’t help but think my toddler would prefer some more garish shades!
In terms of features my little one find it too tricky to slide the locks, he just wants to open and close the doors. The Velcro part is tricky without someone on hand to help hold the board steady. He can’t quite get the hang of turning the music box handle yet but loves listening to it play. The switch is fun to turn on and off, though.
I think from an age suitability point of view it’s fine for my 1 year old to be playing with but he’s not getting the most out of it, yet. There are a couple of potentially sharp edges to be aware of – first of all the music box edges could be smoother and so could the lace holes for the shoes. Otherwise a fab set!
This set is perfect as a gift for 6 to 3 year olds. I love that it’s made out of wood, which makes it very sturdy. It’s great to entertain children whilst they are sitting at their highchair.
I particularly like that it helps with gross motor skills, and while your baby won’t be playing with all of the different features here (like learning how to tie shoelaces!) they will play with it and eventually learn from it.
I really like wooden toys and this busy board is no exception. It is well built and sturdy. The colours are complimentary. The activities are all designed to enhance manual dexterity skills. You can customise this toy by adding a picture under the bolted door. so baby gets a reward when he/she opens it. Because of the range of motor skills required this board will keep your baby occupied for quite some time as they develop the skills necessary to complete each task. Well made. Would recommend.
Review for: ‘Joyreal Wooden Busy Board for Toddlers – Sensory Board Montessori Toys 1 2 3 Years Old Activity Board Sensory Toys Fidget Board Fine Motor Skills Gift for Girls Boys’
This busy board for toddlers is very different from any I have previously reviewed — they were made from soft fabrics, whereas this is wooden with more sturdy metallic features that are also more complex. Some children will have a natural preference for this board over the softer fabric ones. The board is equipped with a switch, clock, buckle, shoelaces, velcro fastener, lock and key, music box, mirror, door latch, and fidget spinner.
This is a good quality toy, however, there are some issues with it:
* The mirror is covered with protective film, when it’s removed the reflection is very clear — but, the film is not marked and there is nothing on/in the box to indicate that it is there and should be removed. And, removing it is a bit difficult — it should have a tab or a corner folded over to make it easy.
* The hands of the clock are screwed on so tightly that I initially thought they were glued in place — they will probably loosen up with use, but potentially that may allow the screw to fall out.
* The plastic buckle is very difficult to open and close — partly because the plastic is so inflexible, and partly because the strap is tight against the wooden board and has no give in it.
* The keys are not always easy to remove from the lock.
The current price is 26.99, and there’s a voucher for a 10% discount. The recommended age is 12+ months – and the safety warning is “to be used under the direct supervision of an adult.”.

I was sent this product in exchange for an honest review. I have been using this with a child who has sensory needs and always had to have something between their hands to play with. This has been wonderful for them. There are many different things for them to use which keeps it fresh and not boring or repetitive. It has a handle on the top of it so it can easily be carried around. They are struggling with the music box at the moment because they can’t get the speed right. I’m sure that in time they will get there with it.
Overall this has been a fantastic addition to my resources collection and I know that it is going to be well used in the future. Absolutely would recommend this.
What a great idea to combine all these everyday tasks into one place. Perfect for toddlers to gain dexterity with their fingers while learning things they’ll soon be doing every day. The only problem with the board I received was with the key operated lock. The key entered the lock easily and turned but is very difficult to remove after locking. I advise you check the board carefully when you get it and return for exchange if there is a problem like this.
This wooden busy board offers So many activities for babies and toddlers, They will absolutely love exploring all the parts of this wonderful toy.
First I’d like to mention the excellent quality, I can’t find fault with anything on this board And believe me I’ve looked. Every part of it is beautifully smooth and finish to a high standard.
There is a plethora of activities that are designed to encourage the use of fine Motor senses, Hand eye coordination, dexterity, memory and more.
I’ll start with my favourite one and that is the little music box that you turn the small handle and you will hear a beautiful tune – Absolutely adorable and I think I can guarantee this will be the favourite for most children!
There are activities designed to help the child learn to dress themselves by understanding Velcro and shoelaces.
The other favourite I think will be the lock with the keys. For most toddlers locks and keys are forbidden, But suddenly they have two locks on this board that they are allowed to play with.
As a grandparent and someone who was New to busy boards I did question the sense of teaching toddlers how to undo locks and use keys, But I have to say that my middle granddaughter played with these toys and she didn’t have any extra interest in undoing the lock on the front door.
I did think this would be a great toy for taking in the car but I think it might be a bit too heavy and a bit too big, Definitely a good choice for taking with you when visiting family or friends and it doesn’t take up much room as it’s flat so it can slide in between things, easy to store.
I would definitely recommend this product, I’m so very impressed with the quality of it and the thought that has been put into each part of this busy board.
This is a really good busy board. The muted colours complement the natural wood. All the items on the board are ones that a child will need to learn how to manipulate later in life.
My baby has just learned to open and close flaps so is loving the switch and little doors. Under the left door, there are spaces for parents to put their pictures which makes this very personal. He also loves anything that spins, so the fidget spinner and the cogs are able to keep his attention. However, he is unable to manipulate the other items and consequently is uninterested in them, so this will grow with him.
The music box plays a good segment of Fur Elise.
The string that holds the keys is placed rather inconveniently because the string gets in the way of the door making it awkward to open. It ought to be on the outside of the board, not the middle.
Unfortunately, the keys which are attached to this knotted string and they came loose. This could have posed a real choking hazard, hence the four stars instead of five. Another busy board I have has the keys firmly attached to a looped string, so they could only be separated by way of cutting the string. For now, I have attached the keys to one of the shoe buckles until I can think of way to firmly attach them to the string.
