I have two little boys who are not only lego mad but love any kind of vehicles so although this is at the top end of what I would feel comfortable paying for something like this I think that if it was for a main ‘big’ birthday present or for christmas I may well stretch the budget and splash out.
It comes in this quite large and impressive box which has a really colourful and eye catching design on it so I think it would give that first look of being very impressive. We also know that you get all of the quality that we know of the brand name that lego has – you know that there arent going to be any pieces missing etc.
I am excited to see their faces when they get this and I am sure it will give them lots of entertainment not only building it and putting it together but playing with it afterwards for quite some time to come.
The set itself is quite impressive in terms of size and nicely detailed. The set is made up of 2 platforms, the tram and 6 minifigs.
The tram consists of 2 cabs (front and rear) and a middle cabin. The cabs have openings at the side and the front window flips up to allow the driver to fit. There’s a console for the driver. The 2 cabs are identical. The doors are simply double doors that open out and I would have been more impressed if they had a mechanism more akin to traditional train/tram/bus doors. The middle cabin is quite disappointing as it only contains 2 seats and there’s not much detail inside besides a monitor showing the next destination. All 3 carriages can be opened from the top as well so you can place minifigures inside. This comes with only enough track for the length of the tram and ramps on each side to drive it on/off. This works kind of well since a tram/streetcar doesn’t necessairly require a track.
There are 2 platforms included. The first has an unmanned ticket booth and coffeeshop. The coffeeshop has a small newsstand with newspapers, coffee machine and till. It has a serving window and is finished with solar panels on top. There’s a mechanism on each end to extend the platform in order to close the gap between the platform and the tram when it is at the station. This is a nice addition even if it’s an unrealistic one. The second platform contains a tram map, departure board, flowers, bin and bench. It looks quite basic but does also include another platform extending mechanism. It can be coupled with the first platform to make one long platform with 3 boarding extensions. The first platform has steps and a wheelchair ramp and I don’t understand why one wasn’t included with the second platform.
Lego continues to be inclusive of people with disabilities and impairments by including a blind lego minifgure with guide dog and minifig in a wheelchair. This inclusion extends to having disabled stickers on the middle carriage and stud for a wheelchair to be fixed in place as well as ramps on the platforms. The aforementioned mechanism to extend the platform may have actually been included to simulate a ramp for the wheelchair. It’s this level of detail Lego excels at when creating real world environments.
6 minifigures are included in total. As well as the 2 mentioned above there’s a boy, tram driver, coffee shop assistant and off duty fireman. There’s small details like coffee cups and mobile phones included.
As far as construction, there’s a few stickers my 7yo son needed help applying, but other than that it was very easy for him to assemble as there are no complicated mechanisms at play.
I’ve always struggled with Lego train sets as a concept since they require additional tracks to really make a complete build, and this tram set falls into similar territory albeit for the fact that a tram/streetcar does not actually require a track. Ultimately I think this set falls down to personal preference and will be more sought after by those who have/or are building Lego cities. If you have a Lego train already, I don’t think this set adds much more to be particularly unique. In terms of playability there’s enough detail to use your imagination with but I do feel this will have limited appeal. It’s a nice set overall and at 73.98 (at time of review), I think it’s only very slightly expensive. My son really likes this and has been enjoying the extension to his Lego city adventures and especially re-enacting the fireman’s commute. It’s a set that will be well received and looks very impressive once assembled.
The LEGO City Downtown Tram and Station Vehicle Building Toy Set (60423) is a fantastic gift for kids aged 7 and up. This set offers hours of imaginative play with its detailed tram, station, and six diverse minifigures, including a guide dog figure. The tram’s design is sleek and modern, fitting perfectly in any LEGO city setup. The assembly is challenging yet accessible, making it enjoyable for kids and even adults. It encourages creativity and role-playing, allowing kids to build their own urban adventures. Overall, it’s a well-crafted and engaging set that’s sure to delight any LEGO enthusiast.
Ordered for our daughters to put together as they are both absolutely mad for Lego. This set is very simple to put together, with the usual clear instructions from Lego that you can trust to be well illustrated and to take the process in easy to follow steps.
The lego comes in handily labelled packages, 1,2,3 etc.. with instructions that match. This makes the build super easy to follow and our girls were able to just get going on their own without needing our assistance.
The set itself is bright and colourful and I really think they’ve caught the characters very well. They are detailed enough and the vehicles included are super.
This is a fantastic lego set and I wholeheartedly recommend it!
Fantastic as always, can’t beat a lego set for entertaining youngsters. This was given to an 8 year old, our grandaughter. She followed the simple instructions and for the first time building lego she followed the instructions on the app which was helpful. The attention to detail is second to none, love the coffee shop. It’s very realistic with the people, wheel chair, guide dog, coffee shop, ticket office, tram and more……………
Its interesting to build and then the play value is amazing. It did take a little time to build, but it was great she said. I think this set would be appreciated by either girl/boy a range of ages. I would defineately recommend this set, educational and uses fine moror skills, It skills, makes a child think, concentration skills……………….Fantastic set.

LEGO City Downtown Tram and Station Vehicle Building Toy Set for 7 Plus Year Old Kids, Boys & Girls, with 6 Minifigures and a Guide Dog Figure for Role Play, Birthday Gift Idea, 60423
I was so impressed with this lego city tram and station set it took our nephew a good 4 hours to build it all and then he has played with it everyday since which I love .
You get all the parts and a paper book instructions but you can use an app to build 360 degree vision to help build this set which is great.
There is enough track but it would be nice if there was a little more to expand it further however he is going to get some more city sets and build his own city.
One thing I really liked was that there was a blind person mini figure with a guide dog and a disabled person mini figure in a wheelchair and the tram station and tram was wheelchair accessible this was amazing to see so other disabled children will see themselves in the sets. It also meant we were able to discuss about disabled access etc with our nephew and I liked that it opened up that through play.
Definitely high price but well worth ut your have so much fun playing with this set for years to come and can build onto it to expand
Will be happy to recommend
What a delightful addition to playtime! When I set this up with my 9-year-old daughter, the fun never seemed to stop. The detailed instructions made assembly smooth and enjoyable, taking us about three hours as we chatted and watched a film. The set fits perfectly on our dining table, transforming it into a bustling miniature city scene.
The tram moves seamlessly along the track, though it’s also fun to play with off-track, reminiscent of a whimsical little adventure. My daughter adored switching the driver seats, and the accessible design elements were a thoughtful touch. The coffee shop corner with solar panels and tiny newspapers is charming, and the inclusion of a wheelchair-accessible section sparked important conversations about inclusivity with my children.
However, be prepared for a bit of a gap in play areas and some minor inconsistencies in parts. A few extra tracks would have been the cherry on top, but the playful and educational dynamics more than make up for it. This set has been a lovely way to spend quality time with my kids, sparking creativity and conversation aplenty!
This set is excellent. It took us a few hours of building using a combination of the enclosed instructions and the app, which is really easy to use – and is also more fun than the paper version. The set is suitable for 6 years and older, there are some fiddly bits that younger kids might need some help with but overall it is a good build.
Once completed you have a really good tram set that moves along the track. This is my only complaint because you don’t get too much in the way of a track and the tram fills it up on it’s own. I don’t think it is worth a full star deduction, perhaps I would say maybe 4.5 out of 5 starts but I’m not able to do that so I will keep it at 5 stars since it still is an excellent set and good value for what you get. You can buy additional track, but it would have been better if it was included at the start, even just a small oval track. However, you do get ramps on either end so that allows you to run the tram on and off the track easily.
The quality is really good, with 6 mini figures included and a small ticket office, coffee shop and platforms. The platforms have small extensions that move in and out so that you can help figures on and off the tram, and the doors are wide enough to move figures around – including a wheel chair users and a guide dog. I really like the diversity of the characters and think this is great for kids.
There is plenty to play with that will keep kids imaginations active. I like the coffee shop with the Lego Times newspaper and the ticket machine complete with tickets to hand over.
This is an excellent set that will provide hours of fun, building it and also when built.
I wasn’t sure about this Lego set at first.
I thought it looked good, but I wasn’t impressed by the size of the track, and worried you’d be a bit limited to how you can play with it… I was wrong, my little girl loves it!
It took us about 2.5 hours to complete, but as usual, the instructions were very clear and easy to follow, and everything comes in numbered bags. There are also a few stickers you need to apply to certain pieces, but again, it was very easy to do.
It’s a really good size when complete, it fits across our dining table nicely. (see my photos)
The details and quality are fantastic, exactly what you expect from Lego.
The tram moves smoothly across the track, and as long as you have enough space on the floor/table etc, you can ‘drive’ the tram around off the track, before pulling back into the station.
Each end of the tram has a driver’s seat, the windows flip upwards, so you can easily swap the driver over. The roofs on each carriage come off easily, so you can get passengers in and out, and there is a specific one for the wheelchair user to use, complete with signage on the carriage windows. (see my photos)
The 2 platforms either side of the track, are great. One features a departure board, bench, trash can and flowers, and the other side has a coffee shop, wheelchair ramp, and ticket office. Again, the details are great, from the solar panels on the roof of the coffee shop, to the individual ‘newspapers’ your figures can purchase, along with their morning coffee!
Because there is a slight gap from the platform onto the tram, there are even 3 areas where you can push a little walkway out, to fill the gap. (see my circled photo)
I’m really happy with it overall. This is definitely a set to be left out and played with, and my little girl has been nonstop since we built it!
Another great set from Lego, I would recommend.
