I am unsure as to who the target audience of this item is. It is a supremely expensive document visualiser. As expected for the price, this tool is easy to setup, delivering a brilliant qualiity of picture at crisp 4k resolution. I was amazed by the stark similarity in quality between this and my logitech Brio webcam – the difference between the two is that the Okio has some issues with exposure, although this doesn’t show up during intended use. Overall, this is a brilliant piece of tech for someone who is to use a visualiser on a daily basis.
This document visualiser is fantastic for remote teaching and presentations. The 8MP camera delivers crystal clear images, and the 4K resolution makes it perfect for showing detailed documents or items on a large screen. Setup was simple, and it works seamlessly with both my Mac and Chromebook. The included OKIOPoint software adds useful annotation features, and the smart pointer is a nice touch for guiding students during online lessons. It’s lightweight, compact, and folds away easily when not in use. Definitely a great tool for anyone doing web demos or educational work.
i got this device to assist with my soldering endeavours as even with glasses my eyesight is not acute enough at times. This has really helped now that I can enlarge reality onto a computer monitor. The coordination of hand movements to the image was a little tricky to begin with, but with practice it has come together and my output has improved.
The marketed / manufactured purpose of the camera is a little different from my use case, but I imagine there are a lot of alternative uses where it would be helpful. Maybe I should start a soldering youtube channel 🙂
Image quality is good even in low ligh
This document visualizer has been a fantastic tool for online presentations. The image quality is incredibly sharp, and the low-light performance is great too. I use it for teaching and live demonstrations, and the AI tracking makes it easy to focus on specific areas without any hassle. The camera is compact but durable, and the USB connection works seamlessly with my devices. It’s a very practical addition for anyone needing clear visual communication during remote meetings or lessons.
I got this document visualiser for recording art/craft projects. The image quality is good. The pack provides a link the website, where I expected to find a basic programme to run the camera, but there’s actually an array of different pieces of software for a range of tasks. The primary programme, Okiocam Live, is for presentations. I couldn’t get the pointer to work with the programme, followed instructions to download Windows Visual C++, but then got a message saying “Okiopoint only supports Okiolabs cameras”, and the Okiopoint was disabled. I emailed Okiolabs Customer Support, who responded within a few hours, saying that the software hadn’t yet been updated on the website, but I would be sent this via email, which followed just 2 minutes later. I can’t fault their after-sales support, which to me is more important than whether a product functions perfectly out of the box!
I probably won’t use the Okiopoint much, as I feel it’s a little unattractive for making videos, and I can always edit to change view or zoom in, but it will be useful for live presentations/streaming, which is its main purpose.
In addition to the Okiocam Live, there’s a range of other programmes – the ones that interest me most from the outset are the stop-motion and time-lapse. I haven’t explored these fully yet, but I expect to get a lot of mileage from them.
The cam and arm compacts down to a very small size, so it’s really portable.
I’m very happy with the camera and its potential in my video-making ventures.
Item received in good condition in a smart looking branded box. What struck me as I first started playing with this and getting used to the features is the solid and decent build quality. It has a weighted base which keeps things stable and allows for the free movement and adjustment of the camera arm.
Set up to transfer the images is quite straight forward and the instruction booklet is good and easy to follow. The images come through sharp and clear with a really good quality of resolution. I have noticed if it’s later in the day and darker this can slightly darken the image projected so something to be mindful of.
The four button controls make this such an easy tool to use and play with.
image sharpness and focus is very good, camera refresh rate is low and high latency so doing anything other than stills is very hard.
has been useful for a D&D campaig
Image Quality
The 8MP camera delivers ultra-clear 4K resolution, providing exceptional detail and clarity. Whether you’re showcasing documents, 3D objects, or handwritten notes, the visual quality is outstanding. This high resolution is particularly beneficial for teaching, allowing students to see every detail clearly, even when zoomed in.
Ease of Use
The OKIOCAM S2-4K is incredibly user-friendly. It works seamlessly with Chromebooks, Macs, Windows PCs, and even iPads, making it versatile for different setups. Setting it up is straightforward, and it requires minimal effort to start using right out of the box. The adjustable arm is flexible, allowing you to position the camera exactly where you need it, which is great for capturing various angles.
OKIOPoint Smart Pointer and Software
The inclusion of the OKIOPoint Smart Pointer is a nice touch. It adds an interactive element to presentations, making it easier to highlight specific areas on the screen. The software that comes with the visualizer is intuitive and offers several useful features, including image adjustment and recording capabilities. It’s particularly helpful for creating video tutorials or recording lessons.
Versatility
This visualiser is perfect for a range of applications. Whether you’re a teacher conducting online classes, a professional needing to share detailed documents during a meeting, or a creative looking to display artwork, the OKIOCAM S2-4K handles it all with ease. The compact and lightweight design makes it easy to carry around, so it’s perfect for those who need a portable solution.
The OKIOCAM S2-4K document visualiser is a solid tool for anyone sharing documents or physical materials during online meetings or classes. The build quality is strong, with a sturdy metal base that keeps the device stable on the desk. The arm is flexible and durable, making it easy to adjust the camera angle. The image quality is decent, especially when capturing A4-sized documents, though it performs best in well-lit environments.
Setting it up is simple, and it’s compatible with various devices, including Chromebooks, Macs, and iPads, which is a plus. The controls are easy to use, allowing you to adjust focus, exposure, and zoom. The OKIOPoint smart pointer is a nice touch, adding interactivity to presentations, but it’s not a game-changer. Streaming is mostly smooth, though there can be a slight lag at the highest resolutions. Overall, it’s a reliable product, but the image quality could be better at lower light settings.
This is a handy little camera which is versatile in its many uses. The camera fold completely flat, so it is fairly small and can easily be placed inside a bag – approximately 19x7x2.5cm – it has a very solid rubberized non-slip base 7×9.5cm, it is weighted and provides a solid stand. The camera support arm can be unfolded, and there is a telescopic section in the section – the total height of the camera is a max of around 35cm off the desk.
The focus is automatic and will work from 5.5cm to infinity, this provides a good range for doing close up shots for detail, or capturing A4 size documents with easy.
The included software you download from their website – most antivirus software will give a warning, as did Avast for me – however, Avast servers confirmed that the software was safe and I installed the software. I had an initial problem with the software recognising the S2 Camera, I contacted support via the website and received a response that fixed my problem – the latest software was not on the download, and they said this would be fixed, provided me with a link to the latest software which worked perfectly and resolved the issue I had.
The software is very good – you can use it in conjunction with your own webcam, so you have picture in picture if required. There is a QR coded stick which allows you to point at what you are presenting and the camera zooms automatically in to the area and scrolls the display if needed – it is a great feature.
You can use this camera as a webcam if required or quickly position it to observe your desk, and anything you want to present. The quality of the camera is excellent.
I have many use cases for this camera – primary one is for making video’s of demos on my desk –
The reason I give 4 stars is because of the software issue I ran in to – hopefully this will no longer be a problem for others, but it did delay me 4 days, as support doesn’t operate over the weekend, so the camera was unusable for a while. It is also, all plastic construction, I would have liked to have seen some light aluminium used, especially at the price point currently of 84
It is a good piece of kit, you will be the envy of the gadget geeks that see this in action!
