This was our first foray into the world of Pokemon trading cards and the game – and we are astonished at how extensive this world is. In fact it is all a bit overwhelming for a newbie. The cards are beautifully made but we have no idea if any are really exciting or rare. There is a nice storage box for cards, some dice, and some sleeves to put the cards in, but I think we will have to put this away until the little one is a bit older. and his friends start to play too.
I rate it four stars for the quality of everything, with a star removed for the fact that the price, which at the time of review was around 44, does seem very high for what you get – and I’m not sure I want to get too engrossed in a franchise that has such high costs to buy the next must-have episode.
This was my 9 year old son’s first time playing Pokmon cards. And he was so happy to receive this box. He’s always been interested in the cards, especially since his friends have them, and he loves watching Pokmon on TV. He’s still learning which cards are rare, but he’s already diving into the game and picking up how to play.
I think it’s a great game for kids because it gets them thinking about strategy while having fun.
I got a few nice pulls from this. I did get a couple of repeats but with a card pool this small, there are going to be more repeats I’d have thought. Overall I’m happy with it! 🙂
