I was very happy to receive this case by Smallrig, It came well packaged and presented. First impressions are very good. The case is made of genuine leather (So it smells great), The stitching is well done and I love the colour of the leather. It fits my camera perfectly. I can still access the thread hole with ease, Which was important to me. Included is a shoulder strap, Which is a nice touch. It offers great protection, Looks great and I’m very happy with it. I highly recommend to others!
I’m very pleased with this leather case for my camera. It fits perfectly and looks very stylish. The suede interior protects my camera from scratches, and the shoulder strap is comfortable for carrying around. I can access all the ports and buttons easily, and the magnetic closure makes it quick to assemble and disassemble. It adds a nice vintage touch to my camera setup.
Beautifully complements the silver Fuji X100VI retro asesthetic, and is very well made.
Pros:
* A perfect, snug fit (no gaping sections). Does not impede access to the tilting screen, focus-mode switch, or battery compartment.
* The finish is a lovely ‘matte’ (nubuck?) leather look, of a rich brown colour (but see Cons).
* The threaded fastener for the tripod mount has a clever hinged swivel semicircle to tighten (no more searching for coins for the groove, though it does have this too).
* The flip-over case is protectively lined, and is padded too.
* Stitching is even, and meticulously executed.
* The dome covering the lens is not as contrasting with the rest of the case as it appears on some online photos (at least, in my unit). A plus, I was almost dissuaded from buying the case because of the contrast, so a ‘win’ for me.
* Surprise extras of a shutter-release button and branded hot-shoe insert (although the latter was not a good silver match for the camera body, a much duller grey).
* Excellent non-plastic packaging, and reusable ‘fabric’ drawstring bags.
Cons:
Very few, and minor, but..
* Really surprised that the strap cannot be adjusted for length. Hm. It’s fine for me, but might be an issue for people wanting a shorter strap.
* The ‘nubuck’ leather is going to mark easily, for sure. Battle-scars of future use will be evident!
* Not convinced by the decision to use velcro on the camera base but, to be fair, they are stitched in and not just glued, and the pads are mercifully flush enough that the camera does *not* wobble on a flat surface which had been a concern prior to purchase.
* Wish there had been a small tool to help with the strap’s ring connectors (like Fuji supplies). Ask a friend to help hold down the anti-scratch lapels while threading the rings.
Nonetheless, I would highly recommend it, the best on the market and much nicer than the Black Fuji one.
It comes in the usual great Smallrig eco friendly packaging (very smart looking), and in the box you get the case kit which is a camera case, shoulder strap and case cover
The leather is great – it feels really nice in your hands, and looks fantastic.
The stitching on it is solid, secure and this case kit is clearly going to last for the whole lifetime of my camera so I’ll never need another case whilstever I own my X100vi.
The case has a classic vintage look which works perfectly with my camera, and I couldnt’ have hoped for a better match. It looks and feels like a classic camera case for a classic camera!
My camera sits perfectly in the case too, secure and solid fit so I have zero concerns about it coming loose or any issues – rock solid fit and very snug in there
The inside of the case is really soft and protective so there won’t be any scratches or blemishes created when put the camera in or take it out of the case.
What tops it off is that you don’t have to take the case off to access all the features of the camera – this is fantastic and a really well thought out aspect to the case
Overall this is a safe, strong, sturdy and great looking case that will protect my camera for it’s entire lifetime
