I am sure a cable is a cable over a certain quality point.. well these look great as well as work. They do not look cheap – they look purposeful.
This HDMI to DVI cable works very well. It seems well-made and durable, despite not having it for long. I appreciate the length of the cable. The picture quality is perfect for Full HD, but I haven’t tested it with 4K due to my monitor’s limitations. Highly recommend it.
Cable feels very premium with the cable having a soft rope feeling braid to protect the cable. Both ends of the cable are made out of aluminium (or similar metal feeling). Picture quality looks as expected (tested up to 1080P). even comes with a nice little Velcro cable tie to keep the extra neat or to combine other cables into 1 bundle.
I have a dual system on my main workstation, with an older 27″ monitor. It only has a single HDMI socket, a single DVI socket and a legacy VGA socket. In order to run two signal inputs I used this cable to take an HDMI signal and run it to the DVI input and it works fine. Admittedly it’s only running at 1080p currently, but it works well enough, gives a clear signal with zero drop-outs.
The cable is of a decent thickness and has well formed connectors. It’s pliable and routes easily around the desk space too. The cable screw-anchors seat the DVI connector securely and so far it’s performed without any issues whatsoever. Happy with it. Very happy in fact. It solved a problem without any fuss or bother. Was as simple as plugging a cable in and you’re done. Will test during the week with a 4K signal.
I was a little wary trying out this DVI to HDMI cable, as the last one I bought (from ‘Kenable’) critically injured the TV I was using as a monitor for an older PC. It stopped all the HDMI ports from working with anything other than the PC – whatever device I plugged in afterwards wouldn’t be recognised – so I had to dispose of it. Thankfully, this similar cable from ‘Thsucords’ plugged in to my other TV/monitor, worked instantly and didn’t kill the TV! So that’s a hearty recommendation from me for that reason alone. Solidly made with a nice braided cable – no complaints.
PROS
-the cable is really tough: it’s braided, and quite stiff
-signal from computer to monitor is good
CONS
-locking screws at the DVI end are a bit close to the body of the connector, making it difficult to turn them with fingers. The ends of the screws have the typical flat-head screwdriver slots, but the plastic at this tip is relatively soft, I fear that a screwdriver will damage them.
-stiffness of cable makes it a bit awkward to snake it around things on my desk to my monitor, but it’s not a big deal.
NOTES
-this cable is replacing an HDMI-HDMI cable plus HDMI to DVI adaptor, an arrangement which could be a little temperamental. It’s great to have the connection via a single cable now.
MY STAR RATINGS:
1* substandard, mostly cons
2** barely acceptable, cons outweigh the pros
3*** meets the basic requirements, cons balance the pros
4**** good product, pros outweigh the cons
5***** exceptional, all (or almost all) pros
