Handy little USB switcher. I have a custom wired Keyboard and a series of mice that I like to use between both my work laptop and gaming desktop. This allows me to not have to faff with cables all the time and that’s highly valuable for me.
The transfer speeds seem great, switching is nice and simple and of course setup is fuss free.
I’m very happy with this dongle/switche

I sometimes share my Bluetooth keyboard between my PC and my PlayStation. With this I can connect the two together without the hassle of changing dongles. I plug the Bluetooth dongle into the switch and wire the switch into the PS4/5 and my PC. It is such an easy way to share one keyboard on multiple systems.

This is just what I needed – the ability to switch between 2 computers in my office.

It has a selection of USB-A and USB-C ports allowing my to connect my keyboard, mouse, webcam and external hard drive.

I wish I knew about this years ago, I’d have been so much more productive with work!

At just 27.99, it’s a great price to help streamline your workflow.

    Thank you for reading.

This is a neat USB device sharer that operates at upto 5Gbps. It switches the whole unit between connected computers, so be aware if you have multiple devices you’re moving all of them, you can’t pick and choose which device goes to which computer it is all or nothing.

It makes me sad that this uses proprietary cables. There is no reason it has to, but some reason use the input ports are USB-A. Really the input ports should be USB-C, that way i’ll just work with any old USB-C cable, but instead you have to use their special cables. No excuse for this, henace the 4 star rating.

It also supports being powered, which is a good idea. USB hubs can quickly exceed the maximum power otherwise.

This handy little KVM switch comes with two USB Type A 3.0 cables, plus a USB type A to USB type C cable and a control switch which plugs into a micro USB port on the unit. This latter cable enables the KVM unit to be switched from one PC to another with ease thus allowing the peripheral equipment such as a keyboard and mouse to be shared with two PC’s.

It worked straight out of the box, and once plugged into to a PC, the keyboard and mouse were immediately detected. It has two inputs, four outputs (3 USB type A 3.0 ports plus a USB type C port). There is also USB type C input port which allows the unit to be connected to a separate power source if necessary although a power supply would be required for this. However I found this to be unnecessary with my setup.

So the KVM switch can be used for keyboard and mouse (wired or wireless), printer, webcam, flash drive and I even found it was capable of charging my phone. It should be noted that to get the maximum data transfer of 5 Gbps if using a flash drive it will be necessary to connect the KVM switch to a USB type USB type A 3.0 port on the PC otherwise a slower data transfer will result.

Looking at others on the market I consider this one to be reasonably priced for what you get.

This is not a KVM (Keyboard Video Moose) rather a high speed USB device switch for connecting to 2 other USB devices. I haven’t tested all the combinations I can think it could be usefully applied to, such as Raspberry Pi’s, but am looking an my PC, Linux and Mac.

It would be a waste to just switch a keyboard and mouse, the best use is to add a flash drive for double backups for example.

I note in my headline that although it has 4 input ports, 3 are USB-A and 1 is USB-C although they are all 3.2 high speed, which is great. If you are using higher power devices you can add the power input via usb-c power port.

The kit comes with 2 USB-A switch to device cables, a USB-A to switch power input, and remote selector switch on short cable.

CONS: The switch in very lightweight and given the orientation of the ports it is not easy to locate well. With the device choice indicator LEDs on one side (so should be the front) and the inputs on the other (thus the rear), then the flash drives will end up in at the rear. So difficult to locate well. Given the price a metal enclosure would at least solve the lack of mass issue, and could improve RFI protections.

    This exceeded my expectations.
You get a USB hub which connects to two computers, it is slightly annoying that for those computer connections someone chose to use A type ports but two A-A cables are included to handle this.
There is a third port for power which is not required, obviously if you want to run hard disks and such you probably want a powered hub and this USB-C port allows you to connect a charger for that purpose.
However, if you don’t required power the device will still function as a switcher by taking its power from the connected hosts.
Switching works well, I was a little worried about devices being left in an inconsistent state but this device switches the entire hub between computers and all my attached devices properly reset each time.
When connected it is detected by the host as Genesys Logic, Inc. USB3.1 Hub and Genesys Logic, Inc. Hub.
The switching itself can be achieved by the button on the box or with a remote switch that plugs into a Micro-USB connector, this is particularly handy as I try to keep things hidden behind/under my desk with the wires out of sight.

If had to find some cons.. whilst the remote is a great feature and allows for a tidier installation it has no indicator, it isn’t a big deal as this switcher only handles two devices but with the number of pins available in a Micro-USB connector it wouldn’t have been unreasonable to put LEDs on the remote.

5.0 out of 5 stars Remote control, power optional

This is a perfectly good USB switcher. It’s main function is to allow you to switch control over input devices between two PCs and a laptop and in that respect it does it’s job well. However, it’s not without its issues.

On the positive side it is easy to connect everything up. I connected two PCs; a printer and two Bluetooth dongles and everything was up and working within just a couple of minutes. The way you switch between each PC is by pressing a button on the end of a cabled remote control. It’s simple and it works.

On the other hand it does feel very plasticy and, to be brutally honest, quick cheap. That’s a shame because it does work well. It is also very lightweight which means it won’t stay put. With all the cables connected up I initially couldn’t get it to lie flat. After a bit of “cable management” I got it sorted but part of that was to fix it to my desk with some strong double sided adhesive tape. Now that it is fixed in position it is fine.

I was a bit concerned by the fact that there was a cabled remote control but as it turns out it became an advantage when re-positioning the unit as I eventually hid the switch behind one PC. This allowed me to place the remote control in a convenient position with the main unit out of site. It does, however, mean adding to the already huge amount of cables spewing out from the back of all the technology on my desk.

So, it feels light and plasticy but it works perfectly well. It’s not bank-breakingly expensive at 29.99 and it does provide the convenience of easy switching. It also means you don’t need two keyboards and mice cluttering up your desk. On balance I think it represenst good value for money and if I could I would award 4.5.
