This product was sent to me for review, as part of Amazon Vine. The below is my own real-world experience of using it.
In terms of quality, each component appears to have been well-made – the plastic construction is robust, with a sleek finish, and properly-machined connections. The largest piece is fully flexible, making it possible to mount the camera on any uneven surface.
Having tested it with my GoPro Hero10, I had no issues attaching the mount to the camera’s screw thread. The set will provide a lot of versatility when it comes to my shooting projects.
In summary, a good value item.
Since my first Insta 360 (X2) I have occasionally used the product as a dash cam. The fact it films 360 degrees, and can be set to “power and on” with a permanent power source, and has a long recording time… it is a perfect idea.
I’ve not looked into using my new X4 as a dash cam, but after changing my vehicle to an SUV I’ve been considering one.
This product, at just under 15, gives me a chance to try this without breaking the bank. The product from UNSTINCER is a soft silicone ‘shoe’ that gets stuck to your dash using (I hope) a removable sticky pad. Once in place, it’s solid – and has been out for a few days in 25-29 degree heat, and still OK (even though the dashboard feels like I could cook an egg on it!)
In use, the X4 sits into the ‘shoe’ snugly, and no buttons/ UI are obscured. The power cable is easily attached (I purchased a 90 degree cable that has enough clearance around the open access door) and it actually looks quite neat.
The X4 hardly moves at all and is held well, with a degree of shock absorption provided by the mount also.
Is this the most cost effective way to use X4 as a dash cam? Well – given that you can spend up to 60 on an OEM mount for the same purpose, I’d say that this was a good value way to this… what’s even better for me is, when the X4 is not in the car, the mount stays put and is not ugly or obtrusive… and there’s no screwing or clipping to get the X4 in/ out – it’s a friction fit.
Overall, a good little product. Recommended.
