Setting up this smart bird feeder was a breeze, and it has been a delightful addition to my garden. The camera quality is impressive, capturing clear videos both day and night. The AI feature for identifying bird species is educational and fun. Solar power ensures it’s always running, and the large capacity means fewer refills. However, the app occasionally lags, but overall, it’s a wonderful gadget for bird enthusiasts.
I can honestly say this is great bird feeder but does it come with a relatively high price tag for what it is but works an absolute charm for capturing different bird species and opting even just as a hidden camera for security purposes its kind of a win win scenario but some things could be tweaked to make this even better.
the chutes for adding bird food do tend to just flow out meaning you’ll be adding quite abit to get full to the brim but then at the same time a big issues is if any pigeons catch wind of this feeder they will demolish all the seed within couple days.
Highlights of this product though is it runs solely off solar power and for nearly 1 month of use in the north east this has not failed in the slightest which is quite surprising to me at least, the assembly is easy and super straight forward with two mounting options either using straps or just drilling it into a fence or wall.
I do wish the camera was a tad more hidden within the feeder but I don’t think the average day to day person would catch wind on a first glance that this is hiding inside along with the security feature you can add from the app of a security alarm, which unlike other camera’s I’ve noticed you can connect to this remotely from any location but sometimes you may not be able to connect and other times you can so that is slightly finicky.
My sole use purpose has been for capturing birds and just seeing what appears in the garden without me knowing to either snack on the fruit I’ve left attached or to eat some seeds and it has not disappointed me in the slightest from the moment I set it up.
For any nature lover and/or someone wanting to get more it I would recommend this product.
Fairly easy to set up.
An SDcard is needed to be able to record videos automatically. There isn’t one supplied so you will need to buy one. There is an option for cloud storage which isn’t very good value.
The bird recognition only works if you purchase the cloud storage.
All works well and is easy to operate and connect to a phone.
I don’t know how well it will survive the winter as any sort of water proofing is absent. There isn’t a seal around the door to add the feed.
Will update review after the winter months!
Once set up, it’s a cool bit of kit. Can also be used as an inconspicuous security camera. My only concern is that if it’s used frequently, there’s no way that the solar panel will be able to keep it charged up. Then there are the winter months too, with little sun. Battery and solar issues out of the way, this is a neat bit of kit that really gets you up close to nature, whether it be birds or squirrels. It could be a fantastic way for children to encounter mother nature closely.
