This Amazfit T-Rex 3 Outdoor Smartwatch impressed me with its unique, quirky design and solid performance aimed at sports and health enthusiasts. With a range of sports profiles and an intuitive setup process, this smartwatch is user-friendly and generally smooth to operate.

    Pros:
The T-Rex 3 excels in battery life, ensuring it can keep up with your adventures. Its GPS accuracy is mostly reliable, making it a great companion for outdoor activities. The variety of customisable watch faces adds a personal touch, and the overall value for money is commendable. Additionally, the smartwatch offers a good range of sleep and wellness metrics, providing insights into your health.

    Cons:
However, the watch does have some drawbacks. Its odd shape may not appeal to everyone, and it can be uncomfortable for thinner wrists, especially during night time wear. There are concerns regarding heart rate accuracy, and while it supports MP3 storage, the lack of music streaming options is a letdown. Manually loading routes can be a hassle, and the map screen’s locking feature can be inconvenient. Lastly, there’s a slight delay when raising your wrist to wake the screen, which can be frustrating during use.

However, I would still highly recommend.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI was looking at getting a Garmin Epix or Fenix but I found this one recently. It does everything I need. It tracks my swimming lengths and gives a crazy amount of detail in the breakdown stats. Great for mapping my cycles as well.

Screen is great, very bright and easy to navigate via the touchscreen or with the buttons. I’m not the biggest fan of the octagonal face but once it’s on you focus on the round screen. Would be nice if they kept the round edge as well like the previous model.

TRex is a pretty daft name as well but it not emblazoned all over the watch. Works seamlessly with my iPhone and the Zepp app does everything I need it to do. I’ve only scratched the surface of it but I find it fantastic and for the price it’s great value. Forget your overpriced Garmin, get one of these.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHad the T-Rex Pro for 3 years, which never let me down. This was an upgrade for additional functionality and I was not disappointed. The T-Rex 3 has an absolutely fantastic build quality with a rugged design and both touchscreen, button and voice control. Having used it for several weeks for many different activities, it has been faultless. A sports watch with an excellent screen, flowing UI and a battery that just lasts and lasts. The support app is great giving you even more data to explore and the ability to fully customise your watches configuration.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI have switched from a Fenix 6S Pro. I liked my Garmin alot, and knew some features were missing from the T-Rex 3: Spotify/Amazon music (I dont use), less detailed maps, sending tracking links to family (which use sometimes) but I am very happy with my purchase.

You can transfer Garmin activities into the T-Rex3 (as FIT files uploaded in bulk via a ZIP) so you can retain some history logs.

Komoot planned routes are easy to import into the Zepp App, as are GPX files from Memoty Map (I use both depending on route difficulty) but unlike Komoot Premium for Garmin, you use the T-Rex 3 maps for navigation.

Relive links and completed activities import automatically from the watch.

The screen is great, and I like the lock/unlock buttons/screen function.

I ordered a Curve Card in the UK and that works well with the NFC on the watch, just like Garmin Pay.

Well done Amazfit, given the price difference, I look a gamble and didn’t buy the Fenix 8.

    Please keep the upgrades coming.

Garmin, watch out, they are catching you up…

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGreat watch. I have come from using a Huawei Watch GT3 Pro and I must say that I am impressed. The app gets a little bit of getting used to, but that’s not a big issue. Packed with features and sensors. The only downside is that it hasn’t got a microphone so unable to make and receive calls on your watch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great watch, very pleased with my purchase

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI can’t deny it – I buy too many smartwatches. I’ve owned a lot of them. I own a lot of them right now!

I have a Garmin Fenix 7 Pro Solar and an Apple Watch Ultra, and this watch compares well to them. The screen and battery life are top tier. They are both very good. The watch came charged on 75 percent and after 5 and a half days it has only dropped 18 percent.

The strap is nice with plenty of adjustment.

The watch is big. I like that – but it might not fit on smaller wrists or those that prefer a smaller watch.

The watch interface is easy to use and there are plenty of choices of watch face.

I can’t speak to accuracy of the data. I’ll wait for some of the more serious reviewers online to check the GPS, Sleep and Readiness scores. Initial impressions are good though. It feels accurate even if I can’t measure it correctly.

The only negative, and it’s small, is the app feels a bit crappy in comparison to Garmin, COROS, Oura, Ultrahuman, Whoop etc. It doesn’t feel as polished and the quality of the content in the user interface isn’t as high. When you read what the watch is trying to tell you it’s often confused and feels translated to English rather than being written by a native speaker.

Don’t let that put you off though. This watch feels right up there.

Golden Review Award: 23 From Our UsersSo far so good….

A little background info – I’ve come from a Garmin Vivoactive 3 which I have had for the last 7 years. I’ve ran marathons with it, walked, climbed, cycled and swam with it and it’s been faultless. However, this last week it finally died.

So, I started looking at replacements. I’d love a Fenix 7 or even an 8 but I just wasn’t paying the price. I watched the only review that was worth watching on the popular video streaming site and decided to take the plunge on this, the T-Rex 3.

I’ll be honest and say it was a punt, but I knew if it was pants amazon would refund me with their great customer service.

I received it 2 days ago and so far couldn’t be happier. Easy to set up out of the box, very simple process.

The user interface, which is usually lacking with Chinese products over the big brands is clean, user friendly and informative. I like it! The same with the app.

The watch itself feels well built, the screen is fantastic and coming from a watch with no real buttons, I actually prefer them, rather than everything being touch screen.

I get a little update every morning on where my body is at, how good my sleep was and if you’ve set it up, the days goal in terms of training.

GPS seemed reliable, quick to connect and having looked at the mapping post run, appears accurate.

2 days in with most things turned on, I’m at 90% battery.

    Some things to note;

Nfc pay is available, however, you have to download a third party bank app called curve. You then add your debit card (in my case first direct) to curve. You then pay via curve which then in turn charges your bank card. Strange, slightly pointless additional step but hey if it works, I don’t care. Curve lite with no physical card is all free to use.

Music – the only thing I miss is the ability to go forward or back a few tracks using the watch instead of having to get my phone out. Not sure if I’ve missed how to do this but it doesn’t seem to be an option. I can live with that though to save 750+.

It took me a little while to get used to wearing it. It’s bigger than my vivoactive. Much bigger. I’d say if you have small or petite wrists, you will probably find it a bit on the large side. The heart rate sensor on the back also doesn’t sit completely flush with the back, so I noticed it pushing on my arm for the first day or so. Its sightly raised. Not to the point of being uncomfortable, but noticeable. I think this is starting to settle down and either I’m getting used to it, or the strap is starting to give slightly so it’s less obvious. Minor, but I thought I’d mention it.

I’ve explored the app a little, loads of watch faces and settings to mess with, all pretty standard stuff.

So, in summary, based on 2 days of limited use, I’m happy. Worth the 259 I paid with a voucher from amazon. It’s certainly an upgrade from my 7 year old vivoactive, how it compares to a fenix 7 or 8 I’m not sure, having never had one, but I’d rather have the extra 700-800 in my pocket to spend on something else!

I’ll update if anything new comes to light 🙂
