I’ve not come across little kid who isn’t at least intrigued by a train. This train is colorful and talks. The little cards adds a little vocabulary, sound effects are fun for little ones and the train even course corrects when it bumps into an obstacle . Easy to clean and I like that all the vocabulary cards fit neatly on top of the train. All in all a great toy. Batteries not included. A+
My little guy loves trains, songs and the alphabet so I thought this would be great. He does love it but the sounds are loud. Overall it’s a little weird, the way it talks and phrases it says. He still loves it though.
I’m no expert in children’s education, but this seems like this plastic train toy that would be very interesting to a toddler. It has lots of different things to help stimulate the child’s brain — sights, sounds, moving parts, colors, etc. I appreciate the educational aspect of this toy, using things like flash cards to help a child learn the names of animals in both English and Spanish.
As a parent who usually finds the sounds of children’s toys to be obnoxious, I really appreciate the ability to adjust the volume (albeit just two settings) or to simply turn the sound off altogether. I did not find the audio on this toy to be obnoxious at all.
A few things of note that could be improved:
– the toy requires 3 AA batteries, which are not included.
– the moving wheels option was glitchy for me…I couldn’t get it to work properly no matter what I tried.
– if you don’t have a flash card inserted, a voice will keep badgering you to put one in the slot.
– the voices chosen for this toy are not native English speakers, which isn’t necessarily a downside…it just doesn’t give your child an example of a native English speaker’s pronunciation
– the language audio isn’t as clear as what I’d like…I had some difficulty understanding what was being said because it was a little garbled.
– the descriptions given for some of the things wasn’t as helpful as what it could be. For example, with the police car card inserted, it says, “police car — keeps us safe.” I know this is nit-picky, but it’s not the police car that keeps us safe…it’s the police officer. So, just a very minor point.
– another very minor point. There is a soundeffect for when you open the train conductor’s door and another one when you close it. The soundeffect when you open the door is the sound of a door closing, while the soundeffect for when you close the door is the sound of a door opening. So the soundeffects are reversed. Not a big deal…just a lack of attention to detail, I suppose.
While my daughter is not yet old enough to appreciate this toy, I am very confident she will get a lot of enjoyment and education out of it.
My neice was very excited to get this toy. I love options that makes learning fun. The size is reasonable. It won’t take up too much space. This would be a great gift for a toddler.
This train seems to use robot vacuum technology to run around. The sounds and movement are enthralling for kids of all ages. While we got this for when little nephews and nieces come over, my seven year old was just as entertained and plays with this all the time.
The train has a little storage space where kids live transporting things. It’s a great space to store the vocabulary cards, too. It runs on 3 AA batteries, bit included, so if you’re gifting it, be sure to throw in some batteries as this will be the hit, and kids will want to play with it right away.
The only thing that could improve is that ours didn’t include the screwdriver to open the battery compartment. Luckily, we had one anyway.
This train is so bright and colorful with many things to do. It requires 3-AAA bated that are not included. You have to unscrew the plate that houses them so no worry about your toddler being able to get to them.
There are two on/off switches. The one on the bottom turns on the movement of the train itself. It moves fairly quickly and changes direction if it hits something. The bottom on the side of the train activates the other activities. As soon as you turn it on, a female voice says something like, pick a friend. Put in a card! She will say that up to 3 times until you put in a card. When you do insert a card, she says the name of the object or animal and what it does. Push another button and she makes the noise of the object or animal. There are two different volume options, which is nice. You can push a button to switch from English to Spanish which will be fun as we are teaching her a little Spanish. The female voice has an Asian accent which introduces her to even more diversity. There are other activities as well. You turn a cog wheel and the train conductor waves. Opening the door makes a sound.
It seems like the quality is good. It is easy to use once you figure it out and I’ll admit it took me a few minutes to do that! It’s a nice size for a toddler.
I got this for my 20 month old granddaughter. It will be another couple of weeks before I’ll be able to give it to her but I feel confident that she will have fun with it and I know I’ll have fun playing with it with her.
It feels a little pricey at $39.99 but it does offer a lot of activities and is well made.
