This work well with a switch. controllers are comfortable and responsive. The controller lights up with is nice. It’s not very portable as it’s wired but works well for one player games.
Finally, a controller that understands the struggle of handheld gaming! The ergonomic design of this controller makes it a dream to hold, even during those marathon gaming sessions. The buttons are responsive, and I’ve had no issues with drift, which is a huge plus. The turbo boost feature is a fun addition, and the adjustable vibration intensity adds another layer of immersion to my gameplay.
The HELLCOOL Switch Pro Controller is a good quality product and reasonably priced controller. Ergonomic design and additional features such as the Hall Effect joystick make this controller feel like an upgrade to my previous set up.
The controller has a nice comfortable feel and the wide, one-piece handle design is ideal to fit in the natural curve of your hand. Given the amount of time the family spend on the switch this is a big benefit.
The joystick is very responsive and precise which is a must when playing fast paced shooting games where accuracy is paramount. Very robust and durable and feels built to last.
Three different levels of combo speed make it ideal with any game that features constant button pressing. The multi-coloured lights around the joystick apertures and ABXY buttons look good and with the seven different colours and three brightness levels add to the overall game affect.
There is an hidden stand at the back so that you can support the controller up on a desk for hands-free gaming when desired. There are also four fixed mounts on the back that provide added stability during play ,which I find gives me additional control.
Very pleased with this controller which combines comfort with additional features all at a very competitive price.
The HELLCOOL JC300 one-piece grip for Nintendo Switch is a fairly decent device which makes the Switch feel very different, and more substantial, compared to using JoyCons alone. The grip fits both the original Switch and the newer OLED models, and there are a couple of adjustment sliders that allow for either model as they have different dimensions.
Once the Switch is in place, the controllers are recognised immediately as they physically attached via the USB-C port, rather that Bluetooth. This helps keep thing nice and simple, although it’s worth noting that the controller also draws it’s power from the Switch as it does not have it’s own internal rechargeable battery.
Performance wise, the grip does a pretty decent job. The Hall effect thumbsticks are accurate and response, as are the ABXY buttons and D-pad. The L & R triggers have a tactile ‘clicky’ feel but they work well overall.
The RGB effects are nice at first but can become a bit of an eyesore over time and, as previously mentioned, powered entirely by the Switch. Thankfully they can be turned off if you wish.
The Rumble feature feels ‘tinny’ and cheap which is a bit of a let down. Whilst the strength of the motor can be adjusted, all setting still feel lightweight and un just not substantial enough.
The kickstand on the back is a nice touch, as are the card holder slot across the top.
Overall, not a bad grip for the price, but I have a feeling the poor rumble feature is going to end up bothering me and prevent me from using it on a regular basis. Almost there, but not quite…
We are a gaming couple, and our main “weapon” of choice is the Nintendo Switch.
We saw this Switch Pro controller, and thought “coooool!” … so we bought one. And, well, we’re a little disappointed.
It works. The Switch docks well into the case, and there’s a handy switch (lower-case S) to move between LCD and OLED. But the buttons feel a little cheap, and the decals, while applied seemlessly and cleanly, do look a lot cheaper that we’d expected from the listing.
And overall, it just feels a little too “third party” and flimsy. Four stars feels fair, as we were drawn in by a good listing, but I feel we wouldn’t have bought one if we’d picked it up in a physical shop.
At first I had issues connecting this to my ipad, I admitted defeat and read the instructions- then it worked perfectly!
Works well with no lag, I have played hogwarts legacy for many hours using this, its much comfier then the original handheld controls. Everything is really responsive and I was impressed to find L2 R2 (can’t remeber what they are called on switch, but thats the name of them on my PS controllers) trigger buttons are mechanical too!
I like the adjustable light colours and patterns, just a nice little touch!
The only improvement I think that could be made, would be if the back of the controller parts were silicon or rubberised rather then plastic.
The HELLCOOL Adaptive Joycon is a great upgrade for anyone looking to enhance their handheld gaming experience with the Nintendo Switch. I was impressed by how well-built and responsive it feels, especially considering its reasonable price point compared to the original Joycons.
One of the standout features is the colourful design across the front, which also lights up when connected to the Switch’s power. The RGB lighting is bright and adds a cool touch to the setup, though it might not be for everyone. If you’re not a fan of the lights, they can be turned off or customised to your preference, which is a nice option. I found it helpful when playing in the dark, as it illuminates the joysticks and buttons for easy visibility. However, some of the function buttons, like the home and screenshot buttons, don’t light up, which can be a bit of a downside.
In terms of performance, the joysticks and buttons are very responsive and feel solid. The hall effect joysticks mean no unwanted stick drift, which is a huge improvement over standard Joycons. The one-piece design also adds more stability when playing in handheld mode, and the Switch fits perfectly into the USB-C slot without any fuss. There’s even a handy kickstand on the back if you prefer to set it up and use external controllers.
Another nice touch is the pass-through charging port, allowing you to keep your Switch charged while gaming. The extra bulk of the controller makes it a little heavier, but in my opinion, it actually makes for a more comfortable grip, especially during longer gaming sessions.
Overall, this is a great controller for both the original and OLED Switch models. It offers a more stable, responsive gaming experience with some extra flair from the RGB lighting. If you’re after an affordable, high-quality alternative to the original Joycons, this is definitely worth considering.
I’d give this product 5 out of 5 stars. It combines functionality with a stylish design, making it a fantastic addition to any Switch gamer’s setup.
This controller comes in retail packaging and inside you’ll find the controller, and a quick start guide.
The controller feels well made and feels reasonably rigid in its construction. The top of the grips have a velvety feel to them and the buttons have a good feel to them as they don’t feel lose but give a firm contact when pressed. There are two slider switches on the back plate which can be slid to the appropriate side for either the LCD or OLED versions of the switch. When you slide them, a little side bar moves in and out to accommodate the different widths of both consoles to give a snug fit with both.
The general setup is easy as you use the touch screen to navigate to the options, go to the controller settings and enable the support for a wired connection from the Proo controller. This allows the controller to be connected via USB-C so when you slide the Switch into this controller, it can use the connection from the USB-C port for the controller to be used. The controller has a good RGB effect behind the pattern on each hand grip and the brightness can be changed through three levels. You can also change the solid colour of them or have them cycle through all of the colours which looks quite attractive.
I really like how this changes how I play the Switch in handheld mode. It feels more solid than using the original Joycons and it now feels like the screen and controls are all one unit. This makes it better as I was always cautious how I held the Switch before as the Joycons had a little flex. The gyro controls seem to work fine as well as the vibrations. I like how these use the Hall Effect joysticks as they will last longer than the traditional ones so they shouldn’t suffer from stick drift after a while. Hall Effect joysticks use magnets move so nothing is physically touching inside so they won’t wear down over time, unlike the original Joycon sticks.
Overall, I really like this controller as it makes playing in handheld mode more solid. You can still charge up the Switch with a USB-C cable, but it doesn’t fit in the TV dock while inside the controller, so it has to be removed first. If you only use it in handheld mode, then it can stay in the controller and just charge it up from there.
This adaptive joycon from the HELLCOOL store comes with USB-C charge cable.
The plastic joycon comes with a colourful design across the front of it which also illuminates when connected to the power of you switch.
You can use a standard original switch or the new OLED switch to install in this joycon.
The switch slides down the back of the joycon onto the USB-C connector and fits snuggly against the joycon internals. Inface the fit is perfect and is held solid in place.
On the back of the joycon is a kick stand should you wish to stand the joycon up and use your original joysticks as well.
After turning the switch on via the usual button the joycon illuminates around the buttons and joysticks.
Everything on the joycon feels premium with the joysticks feels solid and not loose and cheap although they are permanently attached to the joycon and not removable like the original ones.
When the joycon is illuminated the joysticks, joypad and buttons are all illuminated so you can clearly see them which is especially useful when using it in the dark. My only issue is the rest of the buttons on the joycon front do not illuminate and they are just black buttons with black text on which is not helpful.
The other buttons that are not illuminated are the:
RGB button,
Light button,
Turbo button,
Screenshot button,
Joystick select button
and lastly Home button.
Response from the joysticks paddle buttons and other buttons is instantaneous and works very well with the switch.
The illumination can be completely turned off or have the colours changed to your choice.
This is an amazing joycon for your switch at a reasonable price, considering the cost of replacement Nintendo original joycons this is a great choice.
This is a significantly better method of playing Switch in handheld than using the existing joycons. Firstly it adds stability by being a one piece controller which the Switch slides into (very well – no catching or jiggling to place the USB C in slot) and secondly because the sticks and buttons are significantly better than joycons.
The triggers, buttons and sticks are very responsive, feel ‘full’ as in – you feel like the controls you are inputting are actually controlling your game as opposed to the joy con sticks which are just wishy washy to be perfectly frank.
It’s plug and play – no requirement to go into settings to alter anything, I just put my Switch in and it was ready to go straight away.
The only issue I have is the function buttons at the bottom of either side – they are not very clearly labelled in white (as per the pictures) or in the instructions so it was trial and error to figure out which is which (home and screenshot are on the right along with the button for altering the vibrating function, leaving turbo and RGB on the left along with an additional button that … appears to do nothing).
The RGB lighting is an eyesore – unless you’re into RGB lighting in which case, you’ll love it. Thankfully as well as cycling through different modes it can be turned off.
Finally as it can be used with both original and OLED models, it actually has a switch on the unit to swap between the two – unlike another brand I have which requires inserts to be added either side of the Switch – a welcome addition.
All in all (and especially for the price) it’s a very good controller for using a Switch in handheld mode – the slots for carts are very handy and it also has a stand so you can rest on a surface if your arms get tired.
