Changing network provider proved more inconvenient than we thought, so no internet for 10 days until the road outside is dug up and fibre fixed! Needed WiFi for the home for smart TV’s, mobile phones etc… bought this with a SMARTY SIM card unlimited date for 15 and bingo! TV connected, mobiles etc… netflix, amazon everything working great little device!
I purchased this Mercusys MT110 4g dongle at the beginning of October as my existing one decided to expire without warning.
First impressions, it’s big! Approx 11cms wide,7cms high and 2.5cms deep, not really pocket friendly, unlike my last one which was half the size.
The set-up was straight forward and involves downloading an app (QR code provided) next you enter the unique passcode, which is tiny and printed on the bottom of the unit. I ended up photographing it, then expanding the image in order to see it properly.
After that everything was straightforward, and gives you the chance to rename the unit/network and more importantly set a pass code. Other features in the app you can check the speed and battery life, see how much data has been used along with add/remove or temporarily block other devices. Also update any firmware as it’s released. There is an auto power off (timer) and you can adjust the range.
The unit arrived fully charged, ready to go, so no waiting for it to charge up which from 10% to full takes approx 1hr. Using a usb lead to tether it to a laptop will keep it charging whilst you work.
Given my rural location the speed was impressive around 30-50Mbps. Which is enough to hook-up my TV, Alexa, 3 wi-fi cameras, laptop, tablet and phone! Although the TV does buffer if I use my laptop at the same time, understandable given all the other devices I have tethered in the background but that’s probably down to my location, wi-fi signal than the actual unit.
Battery life seems accurate, approx 10hrs tethered to my phone or laptop, between 6-8hrs if I’m using my TV for streaming.
Con’s: No getting away from the size even though it only weights 120g. The charging port is in the middle of the SIM slot and the power button, several times I’ve accidentally ejected the SIM card or powered the unit off whilst trying to insert the the mini-A charging cable. It would be nice if the charging port was the more common “C”. The exposed nature of the SIM slot could lead to dirt ingress. The 3 function lights on the front of the unit are also tiny and only really visible at night or in a dark situation.
Overall impression… Despite its (over) size the MT110 is impressive, powerful enough to tether several devices at the same time and still have enough battery life. I would rate this unit a solid 8/10 however, the design of the charging port next to the SIM slot and power button let’s it down.
All that said, I would recomend this unit based on price/performance.
Impressed by not so easy setup to identify type of product at start of app :- setup process, initially it didn’t work until I selected the product setup product setup as “router”, did it the find the device:- after which it was then straightforward menu-driven setup.
Once nano SiM orientation figured out and inserted, all lights turns solid “green”:- all ok and works like a treat , it’s 5G reception indoors, good reception of 5G, to my surprise getting 5G, it’s powerful enough t to pick up 5G signal indoors, happy with this, from past experiences this was my look-out for in routers with 5G providers SIM, at 5hz instead of 2.4 hz
Constant power supply via plug is added value instead of battery powered router.
The router box sits steady on table or flat surface which is a plus, RJ45 cable supplied is stiff and short for connecting to a WiFi- router when this is used as a repeater, ( paradox ), 2 routers in series.
But works, no conflicts, connected netgear m2100 to this router: compatiable n works!!
Please with promotional priced for SIM – router device,
Reception signal pick up indoors good, all green lights on side of panel!
A bit pricey for old technology but with broadband prices for wired broadband these days, SIM based broadband is a way of cutting unduly high cost of broadband without the added long term contracts, this setup n configuration adds value to you as a user! Would have liked the upload speed to be faster at 20 mb/sec! But trolled by provider of services! Otherwise product device meets expectation of 4G route
Absolutely delighted with this! Easy to get going with app, great coverage throughout house and zero issues with buffering etc.
Love it! Had already returned a huawei one and was not expecting much from this one, but it’s perfect! Bought an ee data sim with it as smarty didn’t work with previous returned order. Delighted with both these items.
Set up was a bit more than plug and play for me. Had to set several device parameters – but that may be down to my specific data provider (3). That said, it has worked well and provided an acceptable service even in an area where coverage isn’t great. I did also invest in some external antenna which improved performance further – the additional antenna may not be needed where coverage is good and strong.
An OK product for a fair price in my opinion.
Alright, let’s talk about the unsung hero of my online life — the MERCUSYS AX3000 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 Router. I’m no IT guru, just someone who’s tired of watching the loading circle spin every time I try to stream something.
First off, the Wi-Fi 6 magic is real. It’s like my internet went from riding a tricycle to piloting a spaceship. The speed is out of this world — downloads, uploads, streaming, you name it. It’s the kind of upgrade that makes you wonder how you ever survived without it.
The dual-band action is a game-changer. It’s like having two separate highways for my devices. No more fighting for bandwidth — my laptop, phone, smart TV, and everything in between can coexist peacefully without a drop in performance. Seamless multitasking, here I come.
Setting it up was surprisingly painless. I’m not one to enjoy tech battles, but the MERCUSYS router practically held my hand through the process. The user-friendly interface made me feel like a networking pro without consulting Google every five minutes.
The range is impressive. It’s like the Wi-Fi signal put on a superhero cape and decided to cover every nook and cranny of my home. No dead zones, no signal dropout — just reliable internet everywhere I go.
The sleek design is a nice touch. It doesn’t look like a spaceship control panel; it’s more like a subtle tech accessory. The indicator lights are clear, and it doesn’t scream, “I’m a router!” from across the room.
In conclusion, the MERCUSYS AX3000 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 Router is a game-changer for anyone tired of internet headaches. Whether you’re a gamer, streamer, or just someone who likes their Wi-Fi to be as fast as their coffee, this router is the upgrade you didn’t know you needed. Say goodbye to lag, and hello to internet bliss!
