MADE BY HOOPERS, FOR HOOPERS

As basketball players who love pickup games, we know how frustrating it is to play without a net. Local courts often have damaged or missing nets, and let’s be honest, there’s nothing better than hearing that swish sound when you make a shot. That’s why we created HoopTheHoop, a portable basketball net that fits securely on any standard sized rim.

We use this to take to our local village park that has an old metal hoop.
Getting it into place is not quite as simple as the video suggests but with my 2 young sons this has become a little competition in itself, taking it in turns to shoot this into place.
The same happens in reverse at the end of the day, take it in turns to shoot from underneath to knock it out of place, this can sometimes take a few minutes!
Overall though once in place this is exactly what you want it to be. Plus it is really well made and feels like it could last several years.
Highly recommended if this is what you need

This came up on Amazon Vine programme and I’ve tried it out a few times on the local basketball court (that keeps having its nets burnt or pulled off). It’s a bit embarrassing taking this away with you at the end of a session when people are waiting to play but hey if I leave it there it won’t be there next time.

The idea is brilliant as there are loads of basketball hoops without rings everywhere and this means you can take a net with you to kit it out for your game. It makes a massive difference to the game, making target practice easier and just more satisfying when you get a dunk.

The main points though are how hard is it to set-up/install and how hard is it to take away again?…

Well installation takes a few attempts for sure. We’ve kind of got the knack of it now, certainly better than we were, but it still takes me a few attempts and my sons still struggle to get it on and take several minutes. It’s not as easy as the video would suggest. I can’t just send my sons off with this and expect them to get it on OK, so bare that in mind.

Further if you think getting it installed is hard enough – wait ’til you have to get it off again. Again the video makes it look easy but again it takes a few attempts and my sons struggle with this part too.
It’s a bit of a shame really. But when you have people waiting for the court, like I said above, it’s a bit embarrassing struggling trying to get it off again holding up their game too (on top of the fact you’re taking it away with you in the first place!).

Overall I’m sure we’ll get the knack properly eventually and my sons, as they grow, will also get used to it.

It almost works best as an addition to a net-less ring you may have at home (if you haven’t got a ladder to install a permanent one yourself for less than a tenner) or if you just want to donate one to kit out the local public hoop for everyone to use as a retro-fit upgrade (again without taking a ladder to the park/court to fit a permanent one on). But there’s probably a reason the hoop is missing a net in the first place and it may not last there until your next visit!

If it does stay there then this portable net/hoop is durable as claimed.

I’m a bit mixed about this. Once it’s on it’s much more satisfying but the getting it off and on has been a little bit mixed for us. Overall I’m opting for 4 stars.

The installation is super easy—just toss it on the rim, and it snaps right into place with no need for ladders or tools. It’s perfect for quickly setting up a game and improving shooting accuracy. The net makes it easier to spot the target, which has definitely helped me aim and shoot more effectively.

The weather-resistant polyester fiber is a big plus. It has held up well through rain and sunshine, showing no signs of wear so far. I also appreciate how lightweight and portable it is, making it easy to bring along to different locations.

However, I’m giving it 4 stars because the net tends to pop off a bit too easily. While the quick removal feature is handy when you want to take it down, I found that a strong shot from underneath can sometimes dislodge it unexpectedly. It’s a minor inconvenience, but it happens often enough to mention.

Overall, this is a great product for anyone looking to enhance their basketball practice or just have some fun. It’s easy to use, durable, and perfect for both kids and adults. Highly recommended, with just a small caveat about the secure fit!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIt’s not an exaggeration to say this has become an invaluable piece of kit for my shoot arounds, the park I go to has no net & I got pretty good at managing. However this popped up on Instagram & I thought why not give it a go? I knew it wouldn’t be as simple as the video suggested, it took me about eight goes my first try, but once up, I had so much fun! the hoop where I go also wobbles, this provided much needed stability, I’m just so pleased with it, it’s a bit embarrassing to have it land on your head in public, but it was worth it. The second time I did it in about five times, it’s got easier each time, I can shoot from the top of the key & it stays in place fine. It’s quite tricky to get down, hard for kids I’d have thought, but again I think I’ll develop a knack. I’m serious about practice, so I didn’t mind the cost as I hoop almost every day & it will get plenty of use.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best things I’ve ever bought!

Setting up the net is straightforward, just throw it onto the rim, and it snaps securely into place. It’s a solid addition for anyone looking to improve their shooting accuracy without the hassle of complicated installation. The material seems durable enough to withstand various weather conditions, which is a plus for outdoor use. Removing it is equally simple—just shoot from underneath, and it pops right off. The only minor downside is that it could benefit from a slightly tighter fit for more intense games.

Pretty much does exactly what it’s advertised to do, if you have a park near you 99% of the time it doesn’t have a net, but it does have a hoop, so this is good for that because it allows you to properly know when a shot has went in and not just an air ball. The price is quite expensive though considering it’s just a heavy weight with a net attached to it, however the quality is good, I did find it hard to take off though.

This basketball net/hoop acts as a sleeve over regulation size hoops found in public courts and parks where the net is normally missing. We tried this when the courts were quiet as we assumed it would be quite tricky to get up and then get back down. We brought a step ladder with us just in case we couldn’t do it like they do in the video. Sure enough it took quite a few goes to throw it up and then to get it down we needed a few more throws. It should also be noted that the hoop isn’t even all the way round with a lip on the front side and no lip on the rear to allow for the hoop mount, so you would need to throw this hoop in the correct orientation – tricky to say the least! (see images of actual hoop shape). I would like to know how many takes they needed for the promotion video as I am sure it wasn’t done in one take.

Even so, it is a neat idea and if you have a short ladder or someone willing to give you a leg up, it definitely adds to the playing experience versus no net, but the hassle of getting it up there and taking it down once you are finished may annoy some. Firstly for mucking about with the hoop and secondly because they probably want to play with a net too!

For the money, I do think it is quite expensive for what you get at nearly 40 considering there are similar out there, so it would be difficult to fully recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great idea. Difficult to use in reality.
