Not the best quality fat balls I’ve used as they disintegrate quite easily, but the birds didn’t seem to mind and they seem to disappear as soon as I refill the feeder so they can’t be all bad. There’s certainly been no complaints from my feathered friends.
It’s getting to winter time so it’s good to make sure that the birds in the back garden have something to feed on. Just need to make sure the squirrels don’t eat them all!
It’s a large box of fat balls that I can put out for ‘our’ birds through the winter. A few were broken in the box but not many and most of these were just broken in half so still fit in the holder, and smaller parts have been crumbled onto the bird table.
So far these are proving just as popular as any other fat balls we have used over the past few years. I’ve not tasted them myself but they don’t appear to be any different, other than maybe not quite as perfectly round but that doesn’t make any difference of course.
Having these delivered to the door in bulk saves on me finding the shop has run out and having to try and explain this to our feathered friends.
I have no reason not to recommend these fat balls. Get stocked up as winter is almost upon us and many birds will rely on you supplying these
Large value pack — ideal for if you have multiple bird feeders. Not seen many birds yet but might take a while for them to notice it/feel safe going near the feeder. Make sure to place away from where predators can get them.
This is a box of fifty fat balls from Rural supplies, with the fat balls coming, well, in just a box. No wrapping, no wax paper.
The balls are smaller and less uniform than other fat balls we’ve tried with the garden birds. They have a bird cage type smell to them so I’m fairly confident that they are pretty natural.
Price wise, at 15.99 at time of review, they are on the expensive end for a box of fifty, especially when comparing against other options here on Amazon.
Nothing really wrong with the fat balls themselves but price-wise these might struggle to stand out.
If you care about the quality of your fat balls, which is a sentence I’m not sure I ever thought I’d type, I wouldn’t really get these. They’re quite basic, and not particularly coherent. I seriously doubt the birds care, at least not the average British birds. Perhaps if you attract ravens who are known to be a cut above in the intellect sense they might take umbrage and go and look for better ones, but I think they mostly just want edible fat.
The price is a little high but then you’re also getting them delivered in a fairly large quantity, and boxed rather than bagged which might be a minor advantage. We used to get them when going to a major high street retail shop along with other products but since they unfortunately went bankrupt, we simply don’t go to those shops anymore. As such we need to find other sources so we’re trying these.
I suspect your garden birds will be fine with these as well and as long as the price is fine to you, I wouldn’t be particularly worried about these.
These balls are alright, there’s a few issues I have but the main thing is the birds eat them and seem to love them so I have absolutely no complaints there.
The problems I do have aren’t really deal breaking but the balls are slightly smaller than others, they’re not packed full of seeds or anything, although there are some and they’re basically stored in a cardboard box with no plastic (which may or may not be a good thing for you) or anything to keep the air out and they’re quite brittle which had a few that had crumbled but as I said, the birds love them and that’s the main thing.
You get 50 which should last a little while but at 15.99 they’re also slightly on the higher side. They’re certainly better than 3 stars but I would say more in line around 3.7-3.8.
We like to feed the birds in our garden and have done for years now. This is the first time I have ordered fat balls online and I have mixed feelings about them. A number of the balls have been battered in transit, so there is a lot of mess and crumbs, especially as the balls are loose in the box.
The fat balls fit easily into our feeder and the birds seem to like them. Perhaps not as much as some of the more expensive ones, but at least they should last a bit longer! They have a use by date of a year (Sept 2025), so we should be able to get through them all by then without a problem.
There don’t appear to be many seeds or other tasty treats in the fat mix, so to me they seem a little on the pricey side, but it is very convenient to have them delivered to your door, so I’ll make a decision on whether to re-order, depending on how well they go down in a few weeks.
Pack of 50 fat balls, they work out around 31p each, I mainly order these to fill our bird feeds up in the garden with, I can normally get 4 balls in one feeder and last 2-3 days with the birds in our garden. These fat balls don’t come very well packaged, as some of the fat balls had broken up in pieces and had gone everywhere inside and outside the box. So I didn’t receive 50 full fat balls however I can put the broken ones on bird table which isn’t an issue. These are great to put out for the birds all years around and these should last us a few weeks.
Overall, the birds are happy with the product, however the way in which they come packaged could be better to reduce the balls breaking up so much in transit.
