We love doing puzzles in our house and try to find ones that are fun for the whole family. This one is super fun! Not only do you have the box for reference but also a poster too this means two people can use a reference image at the same time.
We did find the puzzle is made from a cheaper quality material than some but the pieces still fit together well.
The picture is great and lots of fun to try and put together. There are no missing pieces. We didn’t want to use the helping letters on the back but they will be useful to some.
This jigsaw consists of good quality pieces, with a varied cut that I’d like to think makes each piece a unique shape. The grid of letters written on the backs of the pieces helps to organise them and put them together, if you’re the type of person who wants or needs that extra help.
The image itself is colourful, although an obvious collage that looks a bit too fake for my liking. It’s jarring to see product names on some items, while others have blatantly had the names erased. I’m not sure that the jars of Melatonin and Ascorbic Acid belong in a candy shop. Overall, I think that this jigsaw is for solving rather than for looking at afterwards.
This puzzle comes with a full-sized poster of the picture. The box itself is no bigger than it needs to be. The puzzle is made from recycled material, which is nice.
Aww this is fun! I love very messy, noisy, busy pictures in my jigsaws makes it quite a challenge and creates more interest in the picture itself.
The only thing I’m not a fan off is the helper letters on the back of the pieces some people may prefer this but in my opinion it makes it too easy. The challenge and fun in doing jigsaws is figuring them out. You can ignore them but the temptation to peek is always there.
Over all though its a nice jigsaw with a lovely image that is a blast to work through (if you don’t cheat).
This puzzle came well packaged in a perfectly sized box. The jigsaw puzzle pieces are extremely well made, and have letters on the back corresponding to areas on the puzzle, ensuring that you work on one area at a time, which can be extremely helpful if young children are helping. The puzzle pieces themselves are very well made, and fit together perfectly. The puzzle also comes with a fold out picture of the finished jigsaw, which is also quite handy. This puzzle was great fun to do, and the end result was a bright and vibrant picture. Really great!!
The ‘Puzzles 1000 Pieces for Adults jigsaw puzzles-Candy Shop’ arrived in a printed box that also contained a full scale picture of the jigsaw.
Before doing anything with this puzzle I suggest that the included picture be unfolded, as it is full scale and will be a good indication of the amount of space needed for the jigsaw.
All the pieces in the box have letters on the back and they relate to different areas of the puzzle, this can be used to allow a group of people to assemble just a part of a puzzle each or just to make it easier to find adjacent pieces. The idea of allowing each person to assemble their own section is what appeals to me as I cannot count the number of time when a small group have been working on one puzzle and more than one person has been looking for the same piece.
The pieces in this puzzle are a good secure fit together.
As with several puzzles I have worked on of late I found the box a little too small to get all the pieces back in with ease, and after having to cut the original plastic bag the pieces were contained in to allow access to the, a resealable bag would be a good way to contain them inside the box.
I do so love a good jigsaw. I say ‘good’ because it can really spoil your enjoyment of a puzzle if it’s poor quality, printed on poor card or with poor colours. This picture ‘Candy Shop’ and it’s accompanying poster has such vibrant colours and is printed on quality card made from recycled paper, so I know it will be a pleasure to complete. Letters are printed on the back of each piece to ‘help you complete the puzzle’ which I think defeats the object of doing a jigsaw. It’s the challenge of completing a puzzle which appeals to jigsaw fans, so please let us just get on with it!
We love puzzles especially brightly coloured ones, I find them much easier to do than moody dark jigsaws when you have 60% 1 colour to work out. The sweet shop is really cute and I enjoyed spotting all the named brand sweets such as M&Ms in the picture. My only issue is that the box is quite small – difficult to get the pieces back into! Also I like to usually stand the box up to have a reference but its so tiny it hardly helps. Overall a great picture just loses a star for the box.
This jigsaw arrives very well packaged. The box is firm and tight and made to measure. The pieces come in a plastic bag that fits just about perfectly into the box. Could be a coincidence but I think the box is made to measure.
Opening the plastic bag I can feel in my hand that the individual pieces are good and solid. They have that nice sharpness and freshness to them that good jigsaw pieces have before they’ve been used and handled a gazillion times! Interestingly, on the underside of the pieces seems to be printed letters, like A, B and C. I am not sure what this is for exactly, I’ve never seen this before, but personally I hope it is not any kind of guide (A pieces go with A pieces and so on) as I would prefer it if that wasn’t the case, but that would be my personal preference, others may differ.
Whether or not the letters are a guide I like this jigsaw. You can always choose not to use the guide if that is the case. What I like most, beyond the box and feel of the pieces is the design itself. It is tough to think of a better jigsaw design really in my opinion. The scene is attractive yet extremely bright and detailed and should present a high level of challenge to most jigsaw enthusiasts.
I think this would make for a good gift idea for others or an indulgent gift idea for yourself. I personally am very happy with the jigsaw, it is up my alley and the subject matter is more interesting to me than some landscape scene. Can’t fault it really, other than the letters on the back of the pieces, but some people may like that – I feel it’s a judgement call.
