First impressions when I saw it was “oops” bought the wrong equipment!!!
But after charging the batteries I thought I would give it a go, and hey presto,
‘Brilliant’ wee bit of kit!
Done the job perfectly and more!
Easy to build and change blades.
Got an hour life total from batteries combined!
Just ensure you take extreme care and use protective shoes etc as it is so lightweight and manoeuvrable!!
I only have a small patch of grass and it’s on a slope. I wanted a small lightweight good machine to cut grass the odd bramble and tidy up the edges…. What I got was my perfect machine it really ticks all the boxes and more. Cordless with 2 batteries, a selection of cutting blades and safety wear, to say I am impressed is an understatement. (I am not being paid for this review) I recommend this to anyone.
Lightweight, very important because of the angle to hold it for long periods. It cuts through a normal manicured lawn like butter, and the heavier overgrowth too. Very impressed with the metal blade, haven’t tried anything else yet but I feel confident this little beaut will do the job. Better instructions would be helpful. All the extras is perhaps overkill, but hey, they might come in handy. For the price, it can’t be beaten. I bought another one that was even cheaper, came out at 26.99! Crazy price, nice to get a bargain in this day and age!
I’m away a lot and when I get back there’s a bramble that grows rampantly, so I knew i needed more than the usual cable type strimmers, saw this and thought at the priice it was well worth a go….
And wow, I am impressed to say the least!
it’s easy to put together, no instructions are really needed… Take apart the bottom section to add the grass buffer thing, then screw that in. The handle unscrews then clips in and screws back in tight. To add a blade, just unscrew the end nut, stick a blade on (there’s guides for each type, put the metal washer on top and re-screw the nut tight.
The battery slots in and come pre(partially)-charged.
In use the plastic blades are for standard grass strimming, they break easily if you hit a stone or brick.
Then the metal ones are where the real fun begins, they’re great!
The single metal blades are good for denser stuff like thick weeds (although it chewed through the bramble really well and some small (under half inch) branches…. Then there’s the tri-blade which I managed to break by hitting a covered slab, but that chewed through the thicker stuff. i’ve not tried the sawblade yet, but no doubt that will get through thicker stuff easily.
In use the handle can be a little uncomfortable, as I have large hands and the machine is quite small. The extending pole works well and the adjustable angle for the cutting head does too.
All in all, if you’ve got some denser stuff than just grass to get through i would totally recommend this machine, for just regular grass trimming one of the standard cable type is probably better since you can just tug out some more cable, whereas the plastic blades break easily and you have to unscrew the nut and then change the blade, so it’s a little more faff.
Assembly was reasonably simple other than fitting the shroud which confused me to start with. As others have said the instruction are useless which is surprising when you realise that the strimmer is pretty well made so its best to not use the instructions. The only part which I had doubts about was the size of the drive shaft that may cause problems in the future, it is very small diameter considering the stresses it will be subjected to when operating. I doubt you will ever be able to get any spares for the strimmer. Some of the blades look very dangerous so one will have to stay alert when using the strimmer. When operating I also found the blade takes for ever to stop rotating when you switch the machine off because it has no braking mechanism fitted so that it could be dangerous if you are not very careful.
After assembly I charged the battery which took about three hours and fitted a triple shaped blade. I then did a test run on a mixture of garden weeds, small shrubs, bracken etc. The motor was very quiet but there was a lot of banging etc from the blade cutting through things. This concerned me a bit having seen the drive shaft size. However it managed to do the job without any damage to me or the machine. The next day I was more confident and set about giving it a more severe use.
The outcome was that the strimmer did every thing I asked of it after several hours of use. The battery lasted through all this and I cannot complain about that. The blade appears undamaged after tackling various diameters of undergrowth. So overall I am very happy with the strimmer and I think its good value for money. I cannot tell how reliable it will be but I am hopeful. Do I recommend it. Yes for the price its OK but I would like the makers to bring out a Mk2 version with a larger drive shaft size and a safety brake. Also some better backup would be an advantage as there appear to be none at present and provide some decent INSTRUCTIONS. They could also do away with the cheap and nasty gloves etc. If they did this I think they would be on to a real winner and could raise the price accordingly. I hope the maker read my comments.
Every strimmer that I have ever heard was to say the least, NOISY! This makes less noise than my Mothers old Singer sewing machine.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that the quality of this strimmer was quite high, considering its price.
I didn’t bother with the instructions, I just watched the video.
I did a trial run on some edging and it worked very well, all in all I’m very pleased!
Tip: When first unscrewing or tightening the nut that holds the blades on, just push hard on the grey plastic piece ! Edit.. The screw is tight for the first couple of times, then becomes looser.
I have just chopped through numerous blackberries, some quite thick, I used the SS two blade cutter, very impressed.
Ordered this primarily as a strimmer but, fancied the additional funtionality. Was not expecting miracles at this price point, but was pleasantly surprised.
This is a well made bit of kit. It is one you need to use carefully as the circular saw will take your foot off! I just used it to take off some overhanging branches. Worked like a chainsaw!
Fairly lightweight but, made of more metal than plastic. Two batteries each boasting two hours power. Very pleased.
