My son is a massive TMNT fan, and in particular really enjoys the recent ‘Mutant Mayhem’ movie, so these cards were a great surprise for him. The Mutant Mayhem series is a reboot of the series, but is really popular among children at the moment, so chances are if you know a child who is into TMNT then they’ll be a fan of Mutant Mayhem – even if they’re not familiar with the movie, most of the older generation TMNT characters are here in one form or another.
The game itself is pretty standard Top Trumps fare, where you pick stats from your cards and hope that they beat the stats of the opposing player. It’s simple enough but addictive, and even my wife and I still enjoy playing it with our son.
The cards come in a hard plastic case that is hinged at the bottom, which enables easy access to the cards while protecting them from damage. It’s a great set and highly recommended for any TMNT fan.
I ordered this Top Trumps Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles deck for my 7-year-old, and it’s been a hit! The cards feature all the classic characters, and the fun stats like strength and skill make it a great way for kids to learn some basic comparisons while enjoying their favorite heroes. The game is easy to pick up and keeps kids entertained without being overly complicated.
It’s also educational, as it helps children practice reading and numbers while playing. My only reason for giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the deck is limited to TMNT characters, so it may not hold interest for as long as some other Top Trumps sets with more variety.
Overall, a great gift for any TMNT fan.
I picked up this set of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Top Trumps cards specifically for my partner’s nephew who is going through a TMNT phase and he absolutely loves this.
As an old school fan of TMNT personally I’m looking at these illustrations and thinking “what have they done to my boy” – but that’s progress! But these redesigns are the next generation. I digress – but this is a really well presented pack that comes in a sturdy case. The game itself is a simple ‘play your best attribute’ on card type of thing (pretty sure we made up our own rules back in the day!).
Anyway – pretty decent value at the going rate of 8 and the recipient was happy.
This is a fun way for our family to spend time together, particularly with young children. It builds basic numeracy skills and enhances problem solving abilities. It is worth noting that unlike animal or history themes, this one does not build general knowledge.
Top trumps are a staple of childhood and a regular on the playground. The themes span everything from cars to unicorns. So it is no surprise to that one of the latest sets follows the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Like all packs they come in a nice plastic hinged slip case. Inside you have the cards and in keeping with Top Trumps they are well printed with clear and colourful illustrations. If you’re not familiar with Top Trumps it’s a fairly simple game were a player picks a category then plays their card. The other player/s then read out the value on their card and the one with the highest(or in some cases lowest) figure wins. The winner then plays again and this repeated until someone is holding all of the cards. This particular game is more geared to collectors or a younger audience. As there are only 5 categories.
The usual Top Trump quality and a cool license to boot.
I love Top Trumps, they’re a great way of keeping kids occupied without having to resort to electronics. The artwork is very good and game itself is very easy to play, it’s just a case of having the highest of any category which has been chosen by whoever’s turn it is. Lots of kids have heard of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, however if they haven’t then it really doesn’t matter as the concept of the game runs right through the whole Top Trumps range. A great game for a wet afternoon or for taking on holiday.
I think most kids with the necessary reading level enjoy playing Top Trumps and if you have a Turtle fan then this is sure to please them. However, I found a few of the categories a little vague and hard to judge. Things like “style and vibes” and “bad to the bone” are strange concepts to accurately rank. I think I’d personally prefer a Top Trumps game with clearly measurable statistics such as sports players or vehicles
Top Trumps Specials Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (for ages 6+)
I ordered this for my 5 year old Son who’s a big fan of the TV show. He’s probably enjoyed playing with this set more than the others as he recognises the characters. Though he’s a year younger than the suggested age range he’s had a lot of fun playing this and we’ve used it to improve his maths skills which is an added bonus. The illustrations are great and there’s a good selection of cards. It would make a great gift or stocking filler for Christmas and I’d happily recommend it.
