Perfect for seamlessly switching between my work laptop and home setup without the hassle of rearranging cables. The sturdy metal design and included button make switching even easier (if you’re debating between this and the cheaper bottom-box variant, go with this one). A minor issue to note—some wireless peripherals may have trouble through the hub, though I’ve only experienced this with wireless headsets. Overall, an excellent product.
Nice and compact and very easy to use. The added remote makes it even easier and means it can be hidden behind or under things meaning less clutter on my desk.
This charger is a lifesaver. It’s compact and charges my Lenovo laptop quickly. Having a UK adapter is convenient, and it hasn’t shown any overheating issues. It’s a bit more expensive than some chargers, but the fast charging and reliability make it worth it.
Great product from Ugreen who are really delivering some good stuff recently. This switch is really good. Firstly it looks great on the desk, really professional. It does tidy up cables a bit by being able to hide them behind screens or the desk and having the little controller available. Data transfer speed is good and when actually switching between devices it’s seamless, no lag at all. Handy that it has quite a few ports, USB 3.0 and C available. Worth a go, the price is a bit steep but if it fits your needs then I’d recommend it.
This was just bought—the USB 3.0 switcher. It turned out to be a great device in managing a few multiple devices on two computers. Its efficient performance, design, and user-friendly performance make it outstanding from its category.
Design and Build Quality
Sleek, compact—this switcher fits any desk setup. Sturdy and matte-finished to prevent fingerprinting and scratching, this unit will keep its clean appearance for years.
Connectivity and Compatibility
This switcher provides impressive versatility with its USB-C and 3 USB-A ports. It can support a lot of devices, including keyboards, mice, printers, and USB sticks, just to mention a few, on either computer. With both a USB A-to-C and a C-to-A cable for diverse setup requirements, it will easily fit into your current configuration.
Performance
The USB 3.0 technology ensures fast and reliable data transfer speeds, more especially in tasks that require high-speed connectivity such as transferring large files or running a high-DPI mouse. Switching between the computers was instant and fluid; no delay or disturbance of the connected devices was notable at all.
Ease of Use
One of the cream features is the desktop controller that makes this switching operation very easy and simple in its own way between both computers. The desktop controller helps manage the devices without hassle and with no need to reach for the switcher in itself. Plus, it’s responsive at your touch. Plug and play functionality ensures no extra software or drivers are required, hence easy to set up.
Additional Features
It is also good for a view, gifted with visual feedback from the switcher on which computer is currently active with its LED indicators. Switching between four devices wired to two computers at the press of a single button makes workflow easier and workspace much clearer, hence improving productivity at large.
Conclusion
This USB 3.0 switcher offers one of the most effective and versatile solutions for managing various USB devices across two computers. Its sturdy construction, smooth performance, and friendly user handling make it just right for any home or office environment. Whether you’re toggling between the same set of peripherals on your work computer versus your personal computer, or simply looking to tidy up your workspace, this little switcher makes for an outstanding functionality-to-convenience ratio. Highly recommended for its reliability and ease of use. Five stars!
This is effectively a KVM without the video, enabling you to share USB devices across two PCs or laptops. It does this well, at the touch of a button. It would have been nice if it had come with a wider range of cables which may bother some but I have plenty of spares. I have given it 4 stars only because it makes a great deal of USB3.0 being 10x faster than USB2.0 but let’s be real here, USB 2.0 is a super old standard and it’s disingenuous to claim that your product is excellent because it’s faster than something else over 20 years old. One could argue that keyboards / mice run fine on USB2 so for them any faster speed is not needed anyway. Where you will need the speed is with flash drives, NVME drives in external enclosures and the like and for that, I question why it doesn’t support USB3.2 gen2x2 which is 400% faster than this and the modern standard. Especially when you consider that USB4 will be the standard soon.
So all in all, if 5Gbps is enough for you and you need the functionality this provides then this will work well for you and is from a reputable brand. The price may put you off as it is quite high for what is essentially a USB hub.
I own a few Ugreen products and find them reliable.
This switch feels and looks impressively well made straight out the box. All the ports locate the plugs accurately and the unit only gets warm during use.
I’m not a fan of home network peripherals so when I use my printer and scanner it’s a usb plug change between the desktop and laptop. With this switch I now have both permanently wired and simply push the button on the top of the unit when I swap between PC’s. It’s been totally reliable for 2 weeks.
I’m very pleased with this unit.
Edit
I just used it to share memory stick documents between the pcs. Another few seconds of usb swapping saved!
This is a very convenient device that enables me to use my keyboard and ergonomic mouse on both my desktop and laptop which I often need to access both in the same session. This of course saves space on the desk in connecting two separate keyboard and mice.
As shown in my video, I am able to switch between laptop and desktop with considerable ease by the press of a switch. An even bigger convenience is it provides a lengthy extension cable switch, so as shown in my photo, I have the main body switch embedded in my cable and power management rack under my desk, with the wired remote button switch on my desk, keeping my desk free from clutter.
However, I have one issue. It came with one USB-C to USB-A cable which is assuming I have one computer with a USB-C port and the other computer a USB-A port. This is an unnecessary assumption. Now my PC only have one USB-C port which is occupied by another device. My older laptop doesn’t have a USB-C port at all. So, this UGreen switch kit is incomplete to provide its intended solution. Fortunately, I have a data USB-C to USB-A cable that I used in replace of the USB-C – USB-C cable provided. UGreen should have simply provided two USB-C cables with a USB-C -USB-A male adapter tethered on each cable. Simple and would have hardly added to cost.
Another cable they didn’t provide is a USB-C power cable capable of up to 12W power carriage. This is for the power port which is 5V 2.4A (=12W). Although not seen in my picture because the bottom of the switch is hidden, I connected a power cable to a 15W USB-A power port, to provide enough power for more devices such as memory sticks etc.
So as a switch solution, this kit is missing at least one USB-C to USB-A adapter but optionally for this high price point, it would have also been nice to provide the USB-C power only cable too.
As for the switch itself, its superb. Switching is fast and easy, and under windows 11 and windows 10, no drivers need to be installed, its plug and play.
An example of my usage is that I am a timelapse photographer and I frequently store timelapses on my older laptop connected to my DSLR camera. So, at my desk, I would do preliminary work on the files on my laptop, whilst using the PC for other resources. This switch makes that life much easier as using the laptop keyboard and trackpad is never a comfortable experience for intense work.
