The Yaeonku 4-in-1 External Blu-ray Drive is a versatile and powerful tool for anyone looking to enhance their media experience. This device not only excels as a high-performance Blu-ray drive but also offers a range of additional features that make it a valuable addition to any tech setup. With impressive read and burn speeds – up to 16x for Blu-rays and DVDs, and 40x for CDs – this drive is a speed demon, capable of handling large media files with ease.
One of the standout features of this drive is its wide compatibility. Whether you’re running Windows, Linux, or Mac OS, the Yaeonku drive is designed to work seamlessly across multiple platforms. It even supports 3D playback and offers near 4K quality clarity, making it ideal for those who want to enjoy high-definition content. However, it’s important to note that while it supports a wide range of formats, it does not play 4K Ultra HD Discs, so you’ll want to ensure your playback software is compatible with Blu-ray formats for the best experience.
Beyond its media capabilities, this drive doubles as an external hard drive enclosure, supporting both 3.5″ and 2.5″ SATA hard drives with a maximum capacity of 8TB. This feature allows you to quickly and easily access data from your desktop or laptop, eliminating the need for a separate HDD enclosure. The plug-and-play setup makes it incredibly user-friendly, especially for those who require quick access to large files.
In addition to its primary functions, the Yaeonku drive also serves as a fast charger for your mobile devices, supporting multiple charging protocols and delivering up to 20W of power. This is a great convenience for users who are often on the go and need a reliable charging option. The inclusion of a 2-port USB 3.0 hub further enhances the device’s versatility, allowing you to connect peripherals like keyboards, mice, or additional storage devices with ease.
Overall, the Yaeonku 4-in-1 External Blu-ray Drive is more than just a media drive – it’s a comprehensive tool designed to meet the diverse needs of modern tech users. Whether you’re looking to burn media, access large files, charge your devices, or simply expand your connectivity options, this device delivers with efficiency and style.
What I love most about this drive is its versatility. Whether you’re a movie buff looking to watch your Blu-ray collection, a data hoarder needing extra storage, or just someone who likes having options, this drive has got you covered. Plus, with its fast-charging capabilities, it’s like having a personal assistant for your devices.
Just remember, with great power comes great responsibility — you might find yourself becoming the go-to person for all your friends’ media needs! So if you’re ready to take your external drive game to the next level, the Yaeonku 4-in-1 External Blu-ray Drive is waiting to rock your world. Get ready to burn, read, store, and charge like a boss!
I ordered this because my laptop doesn’t have a dvd drive, which means I can’t use it to watch movies, use my language study cds, or burn movies. That gets annoying at times, especially when I would like to use a cd, utility disc, or dvd with my laptop. Plus, I have several movie projects I have been working on, and I have to save them to a thumb drive so I can burn them using the desktop. But the desktop doesn’t have the same movie making software, so it becomes a major frustration.
This has made life a lot easier when it comes to working on my laptop; I can watch and burn dvd’s with ease now.
Some important things to note:
This is a US based burner, so it comes with a US plug. They do include an adapter though.
Again, since this is made in the US, it is regional. That means you can’t watch region locked dvds without first changing the region of the burner.
Make sure your device recognizes the burner. It still works, but you won’t be able to truly control the burner unless your device recognizes it as a connected device.
This works very well whether watching movies, burning dvd’s or listening to cds.
Overall, I am very happy with the quality of this burner, it works great.
This Blu-ray drive unit feels much more robust than the smaller models I have used before, and it has a strong case which adds to its weight and size. That makes it most practical when you can leave it set up on your desk as it’s not the kind of unit you’ll want to tuck away in a drawer. It’s unusual in some ways because it combines a number of functions into one device, and so long as you can make use of the USB and hard-drive connections as well as the Blu-ray drive then this unit makes complete sense.
I find that it works very well for my own purposes, and I like that it is simply plug-and-play so needs no additional software in its simplest form. However, it is primarily a data device unless you have software installed (such as PowerDVD) as films or similar can’t be played without it. In use I like that it runs quietly and based on this product I’m impressed with the Yaeonku brand despite not using their products before.
I ordered this 4-in-1 External Blu-ray Drive primarily for backing up several terabytes of data onto Blu-ray discs, which seemed like a practical and secure solution.
The drive comes with its own external power supply and is plug and play, working straight out of the box. Setting it up was quick and easy, which I appreciated. It also serves as a high-quality external DVD player for my collection of old video DVDs and recorded files.
One of the standout features is its SATA interface, which allowed me to connect my SSDs and 2.5″ hard drives effortlessly. However, I encountered difficulty with my older 3.5″ hard drive, which I believe to be functional but couldn’t get it to work with the drive. It’s possible I may be missing something here in terms of compatibility.
The drive includes a USB hub with two USB 3.0 downstream ports, which function as standard ports for connecting devices like keyboards, USB mice, and external hard drives. This feature adds significant convenience to my setup.
In terms of performance, the Blu-ray read and burn speeds are impressive: up to 16x for Blu-rays, 16x for DVDs, and 40x for CDs.
Included in the package are the Blu-ray Drive, Power Adapter with power cord, USB A to B cable, UK Plug Adapter, and User Manual.
Overall, this external Blu-ray drive has proven to be a versatile and valuable addition to my setup, with the ability to handle various media tasks effectively.
To me this Blu-ray drive from Yaeonku is quite expensive however the drive seems solid, well made in a metal case. There are some features that may be useful to some but not really all that good. For example, the charging USB ports on the rear to charge mobiles etc is not really needed. The docking for a hard drive may be useful to some. If you had this drive then attaching a large HDD to a mini or laptop would be a doddle.
The drive itself may justify the price by being fast which is good if needed. The unit is automatically recognized by Win11 for data transfer. Such as me backing up all my important photos. This type of backup is becoming less common with much greater capacity USB drives and cloud back up. Still the capacity of Blu-ray discs is enormous and long lasting and another option.
For me the draw back is the ability to play Blu-ray movies. Straight out of the box this player does not do that and extra software is needed. Some such software can be very expensive. I do think that for the price a small bit of software should be included. Although the description does say Ultra 4K Blu-ray won’t play standard Blu-ray didn’t either.
I would have liked a HDMI port or even a composite output.
This is a really nice, high quality, multi-function desk station. The unit is beautifully packaged and presented, and on removal feels quite heavy and robust. It’s very well made and comes complete with the power supply, cables, US/UK multi-pin power adaptor, and even a USB-C adaptor.
I cannot confirm the actual read/write speed but connected to my desktop it reads all my old DVDs perfectly and the HDD slot at the rear had no problem carrying/reading my spare HDDs. At the rear on the back panel are USB and charging ports.
Although it seems maybe pricey for what it is, it’s a specialised multi-function product that I have no doubt will be well used with my desktop PC for many years to come. It’s definitely a high quality product.
My general description of this would be a no-frills external drive. The main Blu-ray drive is housed in a generic aluminium housing. It comes with a power brick an although the included power cable has a US plug a UK pin adaptor is included. While not the best the power brick takes a figure of 8 cable so you can replace this with a dedicated UK (or elsewhere) power cable. I plugged it into my Windows 11 PC and it was a case of plug and play. It was immediately recognised as a blue-ray writer and was ready to be used.
In addition to the optical drive the main unit has added functionality that I liked. Some USB-A ports and a dedicated charging port on the rear of the box allow you to connect more devices. On the top there a built in SATA connector which allows you to directly plug in hard drives. A handy feature if you work with a lot of hard drives.
Overall, while a bit generic looking it works as expected and offers so useful features in addition to the optical drive. I will add that the unit by itself will not enable you to watch Blu-ray movies on a PC as dedicated software is needed. The drive when operating is however very quie
With most laptops these days coming without any form of optical device, this is an item that will be useful to a lot of people. It is a weighty device, and requires its own power supply, so probably not suitable for use on your commute. It’s also worth noting that the manufacturers haven’t bothered adding a hard-wired UK plug, but they do include an adapter. You may also need to download some software in order to watch BluRays, but it’s free so not a problem.
It not only reads and writes Bluray discs (although I haven’t tried writing to a disc yet), but also serves as a charger for phones (etc) and has a very useful port for external HDDs.
Although cloud storage is very cheap these days, it’s useful to have a separate physical copy of the most important data, photos, videos etc.
I have no hesitation in recommending this.
