Effective Security
- This device is suitable for use in any room of the house, and can also be used in caravans and motorhomes when travelling.
- For ground-floor rooms, place the unit in a socket near a window and ensure curtains, blinds, or shades are closed so the light source is not visible from outside. For upper-floor rooms, proximity to the window is less critical.
Operation
| Always ON | If the switch is in the ON position the unit will stay on constantly. TIP: Instead of having the unit on constantly, consider plugging it into a Defender Segment Timer. This stops the unit from using the light sensor to detect when it’s dark, but the unit will come on at the exact times you want it to. Ideal if you are away from your home for more than one night. Always check the specification of the other unit first. |
| Dusk +4 hrs | The unit will automatically switch on as it starts to go dark. The sensor detects twilight and the unit will stay on for approximately 4 hours before switching off. Please note: When this mode is selected, the unit will display blue lights to show that it is set. TIP: Ideal for the Spring/Summer months when it goes dark later in the evening; you can use this option when you go to bed. |
| Dusk +7 hrs | The unit will automatically switch on as it starts to go dark. The sensor detects twilight and the unit will stay on for approximately 7 hours before switching off. Please note: When this mode is selected, the unit will display green lights to show that it is set. TIP: Ideal for the Autumn/Winter months when it goes dark early; use this option when you go out. |
| OFF | When selected the unit will not operate and will use only standby power. The unit can be left connected like this to enable quick and easy activation when required. |
