Item was OK but it has been in the storage for a very long time
We order this for our son 3th birthday. He asked for it and was very excited. I open it the day before his birthday to put on the floor with all balloons and this is the state it was in…Some parts where so dusty that I could not even clean it inside. We paid a fair price on it and it was very disappointing to see it in that way…I did not have any time to exchange it or send it back because our son’s birthday was next day…
My 3 year old loved this toy, just wish it made sounds. But it keeps him busy! Definitely for imaginative kids or they will get bored. I suggest maybe adding a bat mobile/motorcycle to go along with it since it has a “garage”. All in all, great toy and sturdy... just not worth $89. Then again, Imaginext is never cheap.

My kids were very excited when they unrapped it last christmas, having this nearly a year the batterries are still going still work as it did on day 1, its great for role playing , my boys love pretending that they help batman to catch the joker and his baddies:) loads of thing to do with it, the best feature is to shoot the arrows with one push of a button and the hidden prison to lock all the baddies away:) would recommend to a friend
but had hours of fun with this and could not of wished for a ...
i buy a lot of imaginext things as son loves them very well made bigger then i thought , but had hours of fun with this and could not of wished for a better toy
Fantastic and well made
Wow I’m going to have a very happy little boy, bought for Christmas so not played with yet but looks amazing. Looks well made, strong and able to withstand being played with by a 4 yr old. Can’t wait to see his face at Christmas. Would definitely buy agai
Fantastic produc
Bought this for my sons 4th birthday… He’s superhero mad and asked for the batcave. He’s had it a month now and so far it’s been a real success. It’s really well made, nice and solid and has even survived his younger/more destructive brothers attacks! He plays with it every day and loves for us to play together just before bed. It’s really helped with his imaginative play too, for sure… He’s always putting on the voice of batman and superman (bought separately) and telling the joker he’s a bad guy who needs to go to prison. Because I’m so impressed with this toy, I’ve now ordered the imaginext Gotham city jail for Christmas. The downside of the products is that the lift is quite fiddly. It would also have been really good if it had sound affects.
This toy was bought as a christmas pressent for my 5 year old son. I like to wait a while before I review items as this gives people a more realistic idea of products. You do not know a product until you have had it for a while and this is so true for toys. Well, my children have had this toy for over 7 months and it is STILL the favourite toy! Nothing has broken at all. Not even the dog has been able to damage this bad boy. It is full of “caves” and “hiding places”, lifts, shooters, buttons, turners, doors etc, even batmans eyes light up for goodness sake… what more could you ask for!? The children love it and they are 2, 3 and 5. My daughter even loves it. They all love all of the imaginext toys like this. They are fantastically durable. Whats even better is we bought this when it was on sale. Santa was awesome last christmas! I bought some toys which were so flimsey and rubbish that this toy and the other imagnext toys I bought really highlighted how rubbish the other toys really were. Everything is designed with children in mind. If you hear “Lewis broke the door” you know straight away it just clicks back into its place. Fantastic. When you are a parent this is exactly the kind of toy you dont mind spending money on. Also, when the childrens friends come to play these are the toys they play with without fail, they have all the imaginext toys lined up and im not exaggerating they play nicely for hours happily together. One very happy mum, thank you.
Great gif
A gift for 3 year old. He loves it and all the features. We got the Batmobil car to go with it and that fits through the doors at the bottom. The only thing I would say is that it topples backwards easily during play and the stands for the weapons isn’t great. My little one gets cross because they fall.of easily. Otherwise a great toy.
Lots To Do!
My four year old son is over the moon with this bat cave.
Very well made with lots of secret compartments and moveable pieces with lights and firing missiles.
It comes with Batman and the Joker and is very sturdy if a bit big, my boy is about 60 cm and it comes up to his shoulders.
He has played with it for quite a while at a time though so definitely holds interest.
Highly recommended.
brillia
Looks amazing! Very big and seems sturdy. Wee man is going to love it. Roll on his birthday so I can get a play as well 🙂
Having previously owned the smaller version of the imaginext batcave I have to say this is brilliant, my son (and myself) LOVE imaginext toys, as you can imagine with two boys the toys in our household get put through a lot but as always imaginext always stand up to the rough and tumble and I got this at a bargain price
Imaginext tansformiming batcave
This is a must for inaginext batman lovers it has so many different features and it goes really well wuth transformung batmobile
... had bought more for my other son at the amazing price I bought it for Christmas
Wish I had bought more for my other son at the amazing price I bought it for Christmas . Great huge gift for birthdays or under the Christmas tree . Sons face lit up well done for these toys 😉
A big, bright, well designed and very robust toy : it’s about 70 cm tall and 40 cm wide, and there’s nothing flimsy about it. Although it may not the cheapest, it’s not something I can see being easily broken. It’s something that I could see being played with over a period of years, rather than just months. (It’s aimed at the 3 – 8 year old age range, and I’d expect it to hold its appeal to super-hero lovin’ kids for the bulk of that age range).
The Batcave doesn’t just look good : it comes with two figures – Batman and Joker — and there are plenty of features. There are storage rooms and a working batgun, while turning the platforms on different levels will see doors open, eyes light up and a big set of batwings unfurl. It’s also clearly designed to be integrated with the other Imaginext Batman toys .
Looking back to my own childhood, my favourite Christmas present was a Fisher Price airport. It’s still in one piece and, when my nephews and nieces were younger, it was something they always made a beeline for. It’s nice to see that Fisher Price’s standards haven’t dropped. I’d certainly recommend it for the young superhero fan in your life.

The open display box that the Batcave comes in gives an immensely impressive initial impression to this sculptural toy. The Batcave is secured with multiple zip ties but also by two hidden locking lugs in the base of the box. Care must be taken not to rip the Batcave out of the box too quickly without undoing the lugs that secure it to the base. Once released from the box, to get the full effect of opening and closing the wings of the Batcave, a plastic cover over the battery for the illuminating eyes also needs to be removed. These tasks are best done by an adult before a child starts to play with the toy.
The Batcave comes with two articulated characters, Batman and Joker, who are locked into their footholds by a very awkward plastic key. This is another thing that an adult might need to undo before a child starts to play with the Batcave. There are several little accessories to go with the characters and some arrows to go with the harpoon gun on the Batcave. These can be like Lego bricks should an adult happen to tread on them. Whilst there is a storage place on the Batcave for the arrows, there isn’t a secure storage place for the small accessories and trying to use the plastic keys to lock the two characters back into their footholds is a very tricky operation. The instruction sheet that comes with the Batcave is useless, common sense must prevail.
One of the moving parts of the Batcave is a manually operated lift that can pop a character out of the head of the Batcave sculpture. I found that this only works with the Joker. When used with Batman, he would get trapped inside the head and it was extremely difficult to rescue him.
Once the battery has been activated, opening the wings causes the eyes in the head of the Batcave to blink in one of four different flashing patterns. This is a very impressive effect and very enjoyable to see.
There is a lot of play value in the Batcave and it is an impressive, large toy. The harpoon arrows can be fired from the harpoon and cause a lot of mischief. When the Batcave wings are open, it is best to fully open the cave doors at the base of the unit to increase the stability of the Batcave when being played with. There are lots of moving parts that make the Batcave exciting and fun to play with. It is aimed at 3 to 8-year-olds and I would think the younger age range would get longer play value out of it than older children.
The Batcave is very impressive. It has a lot of “wow factor”. I wish that there had been given more consideration for the secure storage of the little parts and characters that come with the Batcave. It is very well made with smooth edges everywhere and I am sure it will bring a lot of happiness to whomever receives one.
Hours of fun for little Batman fans
Despite the stated age of 3-8, this is really something for 5+ year olds. There’s lights, bits that move, compartments, characters, all sorts of stuff for Batman make-believe. What’s particularly good about this product though is that is feels sturdy, and should last a long time. It’s also big, which despite the obvious disadvantage of the space it takes up.. it is big enough for two children (siblings or friends) to play together on.
Definitely recommended – lots of potential for make believe.
Transforming Batcave
This Imaginext Transforming Batcave is a substantial toy that stands about two and a quarter feet tall. It comes supplied with a range of little accessories including two characters (Batman and The Joker), three rockets for the launcher, Batman’s body armour, a glider attachment for Batman and a pair of handcuffs for The Joker – which is nothing more than he deserves. Disappointingly there are no vehicles supplied.
In keeping with other Imaginext toys there are red “Power Pads” positioned around the toy. The main Power Pad at the centre of the toy is the big one – pop your character on and give him a twist and all sorts of things happen: the wings stretch out, lights come on, the Bat Computer display changes and platforms extend at either side. I’m thirty-nine and I think it’s pretty cool, so you can imagine how my three year old feels about it. There are two other Power Pads, one that opens the gates at the front and another that reveals Batman’s body armour (at the top left of the product images). The product details seem to suggest that one of these Power Pads “activates the sparring dummy” at the top right. Unless I’m doing something wrong, this doesn’t seem to happen on ours.
At the base of the Batcave are two rooms that open up, one a prison cell and another room thats use is slightly more ambiguous (a good place to stuff the accessories). These two rooms when pulled out also give some much need stability to the whole toy, which can be a little unsteady at times. There is a lift at the back of the machine and a character can be lifted (rather shakily) by hand up through the body of the Batcave and into the head section where there is a blue trapdoor that opens.
As with all Imaginext toys, this Batcave is well made and great fun to play with. It’s so nice to find toys that both my three year old and eight year old boys can enjoy together. We do already have quite a few Imaginext toys, including a Batmoble and Penguin’s submarine and this bat cave works really well as a centrepiece to my boys’ adventures.
A big toy with huge impact at a very reasonable price.
If your kids batty and Batman he’s going to love this Bat cave. It’s huge and would make an ideal main present for Christmas at Price I think is very reasonable.
It consists of multiple levels and ‘power pads’ which are turned to engage some cool features like the Batwing, Bat computer and the Batmobile. It fires rockets too, and it’s eyes light up as if it’s alive.
The third power pad activates a chest which hides the Bat armour and most boys of a certain age are going to love this toy. It comes with two figure (The Joker and of course the caped crusader himself) but I’d have like to have seen more included. You can buy them separately though.
It’ score ages 3 and up but I think that might be a bit young – so I’d say 5 and up as there are small parts, but all in all, a big, impressive toy that will keep bat-fans happy for a long, long time.
This is a great toy from Imaginext! It stands about two foot tall, comes packaged with Batman and the Joker and includes loads of cool features and gadgets. If you’re not familiar with Imaginext playsets, they have cool little switches which work by inserting a figure’s feet and giving it a twist. The main one of those in this set makes the whole thing unfurl with a hearty thwunk and a flash of the robotic eyes at the top. This is complimented by one that opens the garage doors and another that opens a box containing Batman’s armour.
My seven-year-old had no problem activating these but my four-year-old nephew found them hard work so if you’re buying this for someone on the tiny side, bear this in mind. Another little issue is the fact that it’s a bit top-heavy and liable to topple. It won’t do you any harm if it lands on you, but your figures will go flying! Also, the fact that t comes without a vehicle is a little disappointing. At the moment, the garage door opens to reveal, well, nothing and my nephew asked “where the motorbike” so if you are getting this, you might want to think about picking up the Batmobile too.
But, after two weeks on the lounge floor, it’s still getting played with as is and that’s saying something. This is a fun, robust and good quality toy and comes highly recommended.
Bat-tastic
Wow, was the first thing I though when I opened it. It is huge and I mean big. However, boys like big toys. This definitely fills the gap for a Bat-cave in the bedroom. The Bat-cave is good for role-playing and you can re-enact your favorite parts from the cartoons. It certainly kept my boys busy and they now house the Lego DC characters in it. So, it has multiple uses not just for Imaginext toys.
Overall, great and does what it should. It does seem a little pricey, but I expect the price to come down in a few months.
Excellent basic Batcave for the younger Batfa
I was surprised by the size of this toy. It is over two feet tall and arrived in a large box. The Batcave is made from sturdy plastic and batteries for the light-up head at the top of the cave are included. Thankfully no assembly was required and the toy is playable out of the box. The set includes a jail, lift, missile launcher and a bat computer. The set includes the two figures of Batman and The Joker. I would have preferred more and perhaps the inclusion of a vehicle or two. Lego always include vehicles with their larger play sets. I would say the preferred age range for this product would be 5-8 years as younger children may break some of the moveable features. For the younger Batfan this set is highly recommended.
Batman takes on Joker in this very fun Batcave
This is certainly a very ‘busy’ toy, absolutely loads going on with this to keep a child very occupied and let their imagination run riot. Out the box it’s ready-assembled, which was a huge relief as I expected lots of instruction reading and head scratching putting all this together!
It only comes with 2 figures, Batman and Joker, which is a tad disappointing, a few more figures wouldn’t have gone amiss considering the price. Once everything is in place though there’s loads to have fun with, platforms open up, the bat computer eyes light up (batteries included) and mounted guns fire small darts. There’s also a mini-prison to put the Joker in, so the stage is set for some serious old-fashioned playing here.
The Transforming Batcave is also bigger than what I thought, it’s pretty impressive once setup, though I do think it’s all a bit too much for toddler-aged kids, there’s just too many intricate bits to it for younger children, but for the older kids this is superb fun.
This is loved by my little one and little visitors alike
This is loved by my little one and little visitors alike.
It has lots of activities and moving parts which are fun to play with and whilst a few more characters would add to the fun it is a good action toy that appeals to young children who like a bit of rough and tumble with their toys.
Disappointing the batmobile is extra
I really like this toy. What first impressed me was not the fact it was already built, but the sheer size of it. Knowing the way things are photographed these days I didn’t expect it to be so large. So it certainly has a big wow factor on first glance. I also like that Fisher Price are producing a range of transitional toys to slightly more mature tastes.
It’s very well built. You only get the Batman and Joker figures though that I felt was a bit tight given the price. The Batmobile is extra and I feel it really should have included that as it’s not complete without it.
The power pads are great fun but I would agree with the other reviewer that perhaps 4+ may be a more appropriate age range. That said with supervision etc it should be ok.
Overall a fun activity set. Only slightly let down by charging extra for the bat mobile.
Very impressive toy!
This has really delighted the little Batman fan of the house (we’re very much a DC family, Marvel just doesn’t compare!).
This is rated for ages 3-8 but as another reviewer mentioned, because of the fiddly parts and how it towers without being very steady or affixed to anything, I wouldn’t recommend it for little tackers under 5 as it would be far too easy for them to pop the figures in their mouth in the 2 seconds you turn away from them, or for them to pull it down on top of themselves. Also…projectile launchers :/
That said it is quite a sturdy playset, and underwent a weekend’s happy rough-housing. The mechanics work great; I half expected them to jam after a few turns but nope, everything is still turning, the lift still lifts and the wings are still popping out and tucking in just fine. It’s not as sophisticated or with as much lasting entertainment value as I’d expect a toy to be for 60+ quid, but I guess the official Batman name makes the price tag higher. It would make a fantastic ‘big’ present for Christmas for your little Batman fanatic if you’re prepared to shell out that much, just expect them to be making very loud and enthusiastic ‘sound effects’ for it all afternoon long.
Batman toy
A toy that comes ready assembled! That’s a huge selling point to start with. Add to that the fact that batteries are included and we’re off to a flying start. The toy is a huge interactive fun filled activity that kept my friend’s 7 year old son amused for hours. There’s so much fun to be had with this batman toy. It’s well made and will be sure to provide many hours of entertainment for the 3-8 year olds.
Fans will love i
The Batcave certainly looks impressive, and I had expected it to require constructing, so to find it comes fully built and ready to go was a bonus.
Clearly aimed at fans of Batman who already have other toys in the range, this rather disappointingly comes with only two figures (The Caped Crusader himself and The Joker). Sadly the Batmobile that lives at the bottom is not included. This is not a flaw unique to Mattel though — many companies do this is order to get you to part with more cash to keep the little ones happy! That said, even with the limited add-ons, the playset still has much to offer.
The Batcave itself is well made, though as others have commented, it is a little unstable, especially when applying pressure to the platforms, and on carpet tends to be extremely wobbly.
There are enough opening doors, a firing gun and even a jail for The Joker, to keep any fan occupied for a good few hours, but its longevity will ultimately be determined by how many of the extra accessories are purchased to keep the set fresh and exciting.
As far as value goes, it’s not as extortionately priced as Disney products, so in comparison the price isn’t so hard to stomach.
What an impressively sized gift to hide beneath the tree… You’ll need a whole roll of wrapping to disguise it. Standing 27 “tall 70 cm, and 16” 41cm wide, this bumper box is a good bet to excite and thrill younger Batman fans. ‘imaginext’ recommend this Transforming Batcave to 3- 8 year old children, who are likely to find the set up really interesting to play with. My younger grandsons gave it a massive seal of approval today, they have played happily with it for hours, talking all the while, moving the figures about, operating the lift, putting the Joker into jail. It’s a toy with lots to discover, it has taken us a while to workout what’s what. That is rewarding when seen through the eyes of a child. They truly do love it and were not at all frustrated by manipulating the figures into the various positions they can occupy.
It was all set up ready when they arrived as I feel strongly that it’s always a good idea to get presents out of the box, release the tight packing constraints, cable ties, etc before offering the gift, as fore warned is fore armed. You’ll need some sharp snips to get it out without wrecking the box. Two circular clips release the base. Batteries are included. Luckily the actual frame is already constructed, so it is only the accoutrements that need putting into place. As adults we found it rather a threatening, formidable sight! As you widen it out, opening the wings, by turning the little Batman on his base, Big Batman’s eyes briefly flash, glow then fade; the framework comes alive. That’s it for the battery-powered action, from then on in it’s all interactive, imaginative play. Do take a minute to read the instructions so that you might gently show your children what the various extra features can do. I helped put Batman’s jet pack on and the bullet proof vest, once fitted, they stay on well and now the boys can do it themselves. Dexterity skills come in to play. Another plus.
I took advice from other reviewers about the lack of little figures, a bit sad if you only have the two supplied interactive characters (Batman and Joker) to move around the various levels. I had bought an ‘imageinext’ Fisher Price matching set, for under twenty pounds, which only duplicates Batman himself, and the one in the set is wearing a different, all black, suit. This greatly enhances the fun of the Batcave. Of course you may already have the figures. The caped dog was especially popular. I shall have to frisk the boys when they leave. We thought that a Bat-mobile, in proportion to the set would be a useful extra, and have been looking at those on amazon – it appears a collection is beginning.
The storeys include a mounted yellow gun, which fires red darts. You push them in hard and then press the button on top, to see them fly out quite effectively. Two more darts are stored beside the gun, to tidy them away safely, push them into the slots provided. A box/trunk on the top level also opens its lid if you move the figure, when he has his feet set in the moulded holes. Also the doors of the downstairs Batcave open, and a ramp lowers for vehicular or figure entry, by standing a figure on the circle above it and moving him from side to side. A flying Batman weapon/jet pack fits on to the step shaped mounting to the right. Then it moves around up and down, to aim. There is a cage/prison/jail on the ground floor that opens out from the side. A bedroom/store for Batman and his pals on the other side of the doorway. Once again, I can honestly vouch for the fun had with it by a four year old boy and his younger brother. I loved hearing them chatting away about the characters and what they were making them do. As a grandmother I can attest that Fisher Price toys last over the generations.
Great for any young batman fan :)
This is a quiet a large batcave! My son will love this for Xmas, gutted that less than 7 weeks later it’s 22 cheaper but all the same I’m Sure my son will enjoy this item
