What I know about microwave ovens could be written on the back of a postage stamp. I needed to replace my broken oven, and was looking for one that was not too large, not too powerful and easy to operate. I took a chance on this model and, thus far, I have been very satisfied with it. It does everything I require competently.
I bought this microwave as a replacement of my old one, I was looking for a black one that would match my other appliances and would not cost much. I have been using it for months now and can only say it works great. My baby bottle steriliser fits it perfectly compared to other microwaves that were not large enough. I can’t say anything about its features like programming or defrosting because I don’t use them at all. It’s just not for me, I only set an appropriate power and time, but looking at the quality of the appliance I would expect them to work great.
I am very pleased with the microwave and so long as it continues to work ok it is just what we wanted. The delivery however was another matter. Apart from racing up our drive, worrying because we have elderly cats. There are signs but obviously ignored the driver after delivering my microwave and a small package to my husband. Then proceeded to reverse and bang into one of our garage doors. The driver did not stop and then raced out of the drive. Luckily apart from a small scratch the door is ok but this is not acceptable behaviour.

The wording on the control panel are difficult for an elderly person to read
Bought as a replacement for the gas oven which my elderly mother was finding difficult to use. However, she finds the wording on the microwave’s control panel difficult to read. Other than that, the appliance does the job as a micro, an oven and an airfryer.
Used daily and not let me down yet.
Easy to set the power setting and timer. Easy to clean inside and the display easy to read. I don’t know if this is a standard feature on all microwaves but the turntable will always stop at a point where it started. So if you have put a cup of soup, for example, in for a couple of minutes, then the handle will still end up pointing towards you at the end when you open the door.
Good value for money
This replaced our previous microwave we had for at least 15 years. It was smaller but the space and power is sufficient. My only disappointment is that you can’t see clearly through the window when in use. Sauces/ liquids could overflow because of this. My previous machine had good vision. Otherwise it’s fine.
Door opening is small
Nice looking microwave. The internal dimensions given for this microwave are 30.6 X 30.4 X 20.6. Sadly we had to return as the door opening measures only 17.5 high by 27.5 wide (i though it was going to be 20.6 high). All the inside walls are curved giving the extra size but are not usable as you can only use the max size of the turntable width anyway. Anything that you put in it has to be no higher realistically than 16cm. Sadly no good for me.
Serves it’s purpose
Nice compact piece of equipment just right for single person in a studio flat. Instructions are reasonably clear. Could have done with a drip tray when using air fryer but not a major faul
Present for daughter shes happy
Right price for basic microwave. I personally don’t like microwaves I prefer old style ovens, but my daughter loves it.
Always had high opinion of Toshiba brand, we still have a Toshiba TV ,15 or more years old. I think they used to advertise they go on and on and on. Don’t hear much about them now perhaps brand has been bought by someone else. You know where everything tends to be made these days.
Anyway, looks great, good price, good make cross fingers…
My previous microwave (a different brand costing about the same), had to be replaced after just a couple of years as the plastic coating inside was flaking off leaving exposed rust. I’m pleased to say that this one seems much better made and the door closes with a satisfying clunk; it’s also much quieter than the one it replaced. It’s a fairly standard no frills device that allows per second timing and has a few special settings, although oddly no bread defrost button which I use a lot. I also think that all microwaves should display the power output on the front as it’s easy to forget and a faff to spend longer searching for the manual than it will take to cook the ready meal you have in your hand; the previous one did, this one doesn’t. All-in-all very happy with the purchase for the price.
Looks good and stylish, nice and quiet, cooks and heats well, easy to use( once you know how) -decent price too..
Few gripes.. The door opens exactly level to the side which is a bit annoying sometime when adding big itemsremoving.
The microwave seems to Get a lot more steamed up than my last one.
The text on the buttons is tiny and hard to read… Fine once you know them but 1st time users would struggle to identify what does what.
Pretty decent overall though…
Our last microwave was all singing and dancing with grill, oven and all the fancy trimmings. Guess what we only ever used the microwave bit which packed up. This time we decided to go simple, no fancy buttons or bells, just two dials delivering what was required, a temperature and a timing level. This toshiba microwave delivers exactly that. It’s neat, small and doest fill entire kitchen up. Thank you toshiba for giving us exactly what’s on the box.
Feel obliged to leave a review for I myself had spent good few days searching and comparing, hopefully, could be helpful for someone in a similar situation.
* It is a well made, easy to use, and minimalistically looking (in a good way) microwave.
* The door is glossy but there’s a hidden handle to open it so it doesn’t collect too many fingerprints too soon.
* When working, the internal light is on and you can see through the door. It is not as transparent as some other models, but perfectly fine to see the milk foam before it spills off, for example.
* The child lock is really easy to set on and off.
* Basic microwave functions are very intuitive to find/use. One press of a button switches it on at 800 for 30sec, etc. I didn’t even open the manual to start using it. Other options are also easy to navigate.
* Unlike some other reviews mention, ours has a 24h time format, which is perfect.
* It is quite spacious for a 20l microwave, the interior is bigger than in some other models I was looking at, and compared to our previous one. A standard dinner plate fits in easily.
Yet to see how long it will survive for, but so far so good, really pleased with the purchase.
Good machine but no recipe book or decent cooking instructions, absolute zilch customer service. The oven works very well but the instructions for use have been written by someone who has used the machine regularly and is very basic, and is not very helpful in providing examples of basic recipes and cooking techniques as most ovens do. I had seen it advertised on Youtube with a recipe book included. I contacted customer services to ask for said recipe book and the person at the other end told me there wasn’t one, she was also very unhelpful with regard to using and finding a recipe book. Complained to Toshiba, I spoke to friend in electrical retail whos said, “What do you expect from Toshiba they are extremely poor at comms and custtomer support.” I have kept the oven as it functions very well as a microwave and an air fryer. I am still scouring the internet for a copy of the missing cookbook or something that will help me use it to i’s full potential. Last time I buy anything from Toshiba!
Looks good works as expected.
Not a bad price for a brand device. I don’t tend to use all the features but it does what it’s designed to do simply enough with one button press.
Our previous microwave (a Sanyo) had a failed bulb that had no access to replace it and was starting to get rusty, so having read positive reviews of the Toshiba we bought one. After almost a year I see the good points and the niggles. The good points are that it cooks and reheats evenly, the door opens and closes easily and the instant full power for various minutes are a real asset. The niggles are that the defrost function has ‘by time’ or ‘by weight’ options, but nothing in the manual explains how to choose the time for anything, so only the weight is usable. Our Sanyo used to do part of the defrost, then pause for 2 minutes for temperatures to equalise then go again to finish the defrosting. The Toshiba does it in one go, and dense foods like joints of meat need longer that the weight decides. I add 10% to the actual weight for a proper defrost without starting to cook. The turntable rotates jerkily rather than smoothly, and it is too easy to dislodge from the drive and is fiddly to put back. The clock doesn’t keep exactly to time and gradually gets fast so I had to reset it about every 6 weeks. The time functions are not consistent: If I Time Cook, I put in (say) 415 and it assumes a leading zero and I get 4 minutes and 15 seconds; If I use the Kitchen Timer function and put in 415 it assumes a zero on the end and I get 41 minutes and 50 seconds. That took a bit of getting used to. None of the niggles would put me off buying one again, but I can’t give it 5 stars.
Microwave
Our other microwave gave up but it was very old. Was surprised how much we missed it.
This one is so much better, don’t have to put on for as long as gets things very hot, goes to show how bad other one was.
This is a small, effective microwave with minimal controls – just two knobs: one for power settings, and the other for timing. It has no frills, no readout, and not even the usual digital clock! It does its job and the results are as good as the old, more complex microwave I had to throw out and which it replaces. The timer is wholly analogue and setting is from the dial only. It is approximate but adequate. It counts down and ‘pings’ when finished. If you open the door, it stops BUT doesn’t reset and the most infuriating aspect is that it starts up again when you later shut the door and then you need manually to return it to zero. The secondary irritation is the smoothness of the knobs. They is hard to grip unless hands are completely dry. So in summary, a good little microwave. Ideal for student or small household. Good value but very basic and with manual features most other models replaced with digital buttons long ago. For these reasons only 4 stars.
Decent Microwave
Decent Microwave, looks good on the side in kitchen.
Settings easy and simple to use.
The absolute best bit, is you can turn the alarm off! Fantastic, no more waking everyone up whilst using microwave!
Simple but stylish
Bought to replace nasty old microwave.
Love the sleek and stylish look, plus what appears to be a good quality enamel finish on inside.
Easy to use, decent power with simple controls and display.
Fantastic basic microwave
Our last ‘fancy’ microwave broke and to be honest all the gadgets aren’t needed. So we decided to get this microwave and we are so impressed with it. It doesn’t exactly what needs to be done (heats food) and has a light to see whilst the food is cooking
Easy clean microwave
The main reason I got this one is because of the enamel easy clean surface. The ones that are painted inside will eventually start to blister, rust and peel off. This one looks like it will last a long time. Lots of settings on it but I just use 30sec increment timer for everything and just keep pressing till I get the time I want.
Bought this purely due to this ceramic coating of the interior. I respect Toshiba brand too.
Only use a microwave for heating milk and warming up left overs.
The machine seems sturdy and well made. It’s true that the buttons are a little small but once you know which does what there’s no need to keep reading them.
I like the look of the machine & the function to keep the handle of cup or glass jug facing out is cute.
My main hope is that this ceramic coating lasts. So many machines the ‘paint’ flakes off on the join of the bottom of the machine to the small facing strip.
I try and keep the machine clean & aired.
Good delivery and competitive pricing from Amazon, ty.
I find the controls really easy to use, overall the build quality for the price feels okay. The reason it doesn’t get five stars for what it is, is that the turntable inside feels flimsy compared to previous models, but I suppose it’s good for the price. I myself have eyesight trouble. I am blind, and I think people who are also blind and maybe have dexterity issues which struggle to put it back compare to say a larger, slightly more well built model. It does have a lovely, simple interface, and it does the job.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good Microwave
After my microwave giving up (good make) after 3 years I decided to go for a cheaper one. This is really good, quick and handy pre-programmes, I like one touch button you press to automatically add 30 seconds plus to time and use this mostly. Coated steel inside is great, easy to clean and looks great. Light is slightly dim and buttons are hard to see but with regular use I’ll be able to use it with my eyes closed. Overall pleased with purchase.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good value
Works as it should and decent value for money. Can’t complain. Only slight downside is the round dial can get slippy when trying to turn it to set the timer.
4.0 out of 5 stars The Proper one
Delivery bang on. Just the right one for me, no faff, easy to use, simple instructions. WHATS NOT TO LIKE! Why would Amazon think I want a new microwave when they just delivered one?
When I read the reviews I was almost tempted not to buy but some of
these reviews are inaccurate. I read that it didn’t have a twenty four hour clock – it does! I read a few others but decided go ahead. I’m so glad that I did because it’s great in every way apart from the turntable derailing easy. No problems if you ensure that it’s in place correctly before cooking.
I particularly like the kitchen timer.
I’m very pleased with it and recommend it.
It works OK but as others have said the numbers on the timer are difficult to see and the timing is not accurate and no seconds, what I have done is downloaded a timer for my smart phone and that times from 1 second to hours, I use that for accurate timing. Just turn it on higher than the timing you need then turn it off when your phone timer beeps at you.
Being disabled, I ordered this to replace my old microwave that had died. I’m pleased with the machine itself, but have to say it being not delivered by Royal Mail was quite inconvenient. I had to order food in as it did not arrive next day, and Royal Mail decided to only deliver a card through my door to say it was a heavy item, and needed to be collected from the sorting office. However, the microwave itself is here now, and works fine.
4.0 out of 5 stars Was obviously a retu
Microwave working fine but it was obviously a returned one, inside packaging broken and incomplete, despite sticker saying remove film before use there was none in situ. So a bit disappointed.
I’m very happy with the microwave not so happy with the delivery. The box did look like had been bashed about as the polystyrene was all broken. However it has been nearly a year now and I’ve had no problems.
bought on a prime day so cheaper than usual
does the job, doesnt seem to heat liquid as quick as my old 800w beastie but that became unusable to paint loss inside and i hope this doesnt go the same way
The power level dial could be clearer with bigger and whiter icons, the grey icons are hard to read without me reading specs so if you need glasses learn to read what setting you are on by the digital display
all in all happy with it on day one.
on a side note it was delivered by a nice lady from royal mail who couldnt lift it so i had to walk out to her van to retrieve the box
Best thing is that it cooks well. If you use a low setting, it cooks at that setting rather than cooking very hot for a few seconds then stopping for a few seconds, repeat. The result is that things like eggs don’t overcook or explode like they did in my old microwave on low settings. The dials are really easy to use. It has not started to rust inside like my old one did within weeks of purchase. So far – fantastic and I would purchase again. Bad points: The markings are ridiculously indistinct and I have to put my glasses on to read. You get used to that and you can always add extra marks in tipex or white paint if you want to. The dial is not accurate when you get to the last few minutes. For instance, set to 3 minutes and it will often stop after 2. Again, you get used to this but it is annoying. The worst thing was the delivery but that is not the products fault. A certain company promised next day delivery but it never arrived. They sent another promise for the next day and the next. We wasted 5 days of our life before cancelling and reordering. The reorder arrived as promised. Summary: Cooks really well. Good luck with delivery!
Lovely value microwave.
Great microwave at great price. Black design goes well in our kitchen.
Microwave
Great does what it says on tin, doesn’t take up too much room, easy to clean. Would recommend.
