Great but won’t work without remote hence only one star each
This is my second one got one about 6 years ago so pleased so bought new one, However it’s faulty will only work with remote as on button is broken just springs back , as the remote is small it’s easy misplaced which happened to us as my husband is housebound at mo & I’m partially disabled we ended up pay22 for a replacement remote in fairness amazon gave us this money back , but with fire still having 14 months guarantee iv sent in 5 emails to Dimplex with no reply I’m allowing until
Fri to allow holidays over to give them
A bigger chance to fix or repair incase happens again eg battery done & we can’t get replacement for few days, if I don’t hear by then I’m taking it to trades discrimination or Omnibus .too much money for something that doesn’t work right my other fear is if constant use of infer ted remote will that break down as well
Does the job
Attractive fire, attractive flame effect, sits flush to wall but with a sloped top frame, does not look too chunky. Fan has a little noise, but that’s expected.
I was looking to remove my old gas fire and replace it with an electric “real flame” as it worked out cheaper to run the central heating alone and heat the whole house instead.
This electric fire from Dimplex seemed to tick all the boxes. Firstly, I could push it in front of the existing fire without going to the expense and mess of having the gas fire removed.
Secondly, I could just use the real flame effect whilst the central heating warmed the room.
I have to say I was immediately very impressed with how effective the real flame looked and would recommend this fire to anyone in a similar position to myself.
Just a word of warning….I returned the first fire they sent, as the real flame effect was randomly switching itself off (Amazon’s customer service were excellent). The second fire Amazon replaced it with did the same. It was only by chance that I realised that there was nothing faulty about either fire…..it was one of the buttons on my TV remote that must have been the same IR frequency as the fire that was turning it off! I hope this information helps someone and you don’t end up feeling like a complete Muppet like I did!
I had read this was all plastic except for the canopy so was prepared for that. Maybe a little expensive considering that. I also read about the reflections of feet if you sit in front of it a bit annoying but no big deal.
I decided not to use supplied coal but some amber stones instead. It’s on a free standing plinth. The one real negative I have is the situation of the controls and working them. Underneath the canopy where the heat comes out. Impossible to see if you have any mobility problems. I have storage heaters and this was more for a room feature. Trying the heat output it is very hot. So is the grille where you have to find the controls. Not the best design feature I’m afraid. On the side would have been easier! Maybe manufacturers could have a rethink!
Instructions could also be clearer. Saying that I do like it and have received many compliments on it.
Brilliant replacement electric 2Kw fire. A perfect fit to replace old ( now not safe) coal effect gas fire. Remote control provides easy change in output of fire.

Mine does not click or make excessive noise as mentioned in other reviews. Everything is in the box: fire, coals (they are NOT dusty), a magnetic Dimplex badge for the front to hide the ‘ Do not cover ‘ if it bothers you. Even a glove to use when adding the coals.

I really love the fire and cat wait til winter but I have miss laid my remote is it possible to send me another one which i will pay…I bought the fire in May but have mislaid the remote indoors thank you June Hodgson ……..
I bought this to give the room a focal point as I have a chimney breast in my lounge. I don’t need it for heat, but I have to say it can easily provide enough to keep the room toasty warm. The flame effect is very realistic and even the coals on the front are real coal.
Put it in place, plug it in. Job done.
Great looking and easy operatio
I bought this to replace the gas fire during a heater/back boiler replacement.
Of course, the gaping hole in the wall had to be repurposed and this fire was part of the decoration.
The flame effect is very good and the slight noise is much less than the original gas boiler and heater arrangement.
So far I am very happy with this heater.

Lovely cosy looking fire
This a good quality fire with built-in surround edge so sits nicely flush to the wall. The heat output is very good and the flame effect is realistic, only thing I would have liked to be able to control the flame speed.
Don't worry about package damaged items.
Bought the Dimplex Electric Fire from Amazon. Noticed it was around 40 cheaper as the packaging was damaged. Nice fire, packaging was damaged, but no problem with the contents.

Authentic Flame Effec
Flame effect with real coal looks realistic and can be used without switching on the heat settings. There is a very useful small remote control. You can choose between 1KW and 2KW heat settings and there is a thermostat as well. It warms up a room quickly and it looks really good.

Haven’t yet used the heater, just made sure it works so can’t really comment. The fire was really easy to fit, no problem at all. It looks much nicer than I expected, have placed it in front of my gas fire and was worried it might be a bit overpowering but it isn’t. One thing though, shame dimplex don’t do different types of back, would have been nice if it blended in a little more. Only down is the remote, it only turns it on and off, no option for level of heat but at the price I paid who can complain?

Needed to change from our old gas fire. This free standing fire is easy to fit and operate. Has real coal and realistic flames. Gives out a good heat and quickly warms the room.
An excellent product at a great price
Arrived a day early and was very easy to set up, the flame effect looks very realistic. The heat output on both settings is very good and the controls are easy to use, haven’t used the on/off remote yet. We’re very impressed with this fire and feel it’s a real bargain.

The remote is a waste of time really, it only switches the fire on and off, so I don’t use it.

Had to return as first was dented (looked like it had already been opened / returned). Looks great. Easy to put in. Flat back so fits well. Noisy when heating but we mainly use for the effect rather than to heat room

The Cheriton fire was so easy to set up. The hardest part was arranging the REAL coal that came with it to look good. The 2 heat settings work well with the thermostat although I hardly ever need the high heat. It takes hardly any time at all to heat the room even from cold and the real fire effect (the best I’ve seen) makes it feel warmer even without the heater going. Very impressed with i

Overall a good artificial fire though the actual performance is not quite as good as the photo image suggests.

Bought this on behalf of my Grandma to replace her 30+ year old one. This one is slimmer and moderner. It gives out a good heat and the lighting effect is nice too. The remote basically turns the lights on and off so you can’t control the heat. My Grandma loves it!

I like every appearance of the fire. The flame effect is excellent. Have only tried the heating very briefly as I have underfloor heating. The fire has enhanced the fire place. So far I am very pleased indeed.

The fire was very well packed and arrived in perfect condition. It is well made is ideal in my fireplace. The appearance is good and the flame effect most realistic and silent. The fan heater is effective and whilst noisier than I would have wished it is not noticeable when talking or listening to radio or tv.

Everything I wanted as a replacement for my old gas fire. Heat output will be perfect for chilly evenings when central heating not required. Compact and being disabled so easy to use with the remote control. So easy to install, has made a focal point for the room, looks so realistic. Decided on Dimplex because it is a well established reputable company

Delivered promptly, easy to set up, although the real coal is of course dirty, so you have to watch out for that. Fits perfectly in my fireplace (I measured before buying) and quickly heats up my 5mx6m living room on just the first heat setting. Noise from the fan is minimal, fire effect is surprizingly realistic, adds a pleasant glow. Only downside has been the remote conrol, which only seems to turn off the fire, so not very useful.

great slim fitting fire
Fitted on my existing fireplace flat to the wall. Easy to use and looks great as a feature. Heat comes out straight away. The fan makes a noise but TV would easily go over the noise as it is minimal.

Very pleasing effec
The fire is very pleasing to the eye and the real fire simulation is much better than I expected. So far I have not had to use the heat output but the specification of heat output should be more than enough.
