I must admit, I’ve only used this to connect the M30 to the Mega Drive mini, which required holding up-left and select for five seconds, but after that it worked flawlessly. Once a controller is paired, the Bluetooth adapter can be inserted into the USB port of any compatible device without the need to re-pair.

So….I have a Tesla Model 3 which has a few games built in, some of which require a compatible controller. I don’t really play games enough in the car to want to go and buy a dedicated controller just for this but I do have an old PS3 lying around which is no longer in use and so I set to looking to see if I could use it for this purpose. After much research I find myself with the 8Bitdo Wireless controller which just needs plugging in to a host machine for the initial setup after downloading the SixAxis drivers, an action is required to pair the dongle with the controller and voila we are good to go.

Plug the dongle in to the car’s USB port in the forward storage compartment, open up a game and test!

Really happy with this as a solution which has repurposed an old controller and for a very reasonable price!

The product worked really well with the PS5 dualsense controller. Plugged in straight from the box and it paired immediately. Rumble and motion works also if you update the stick via a PC or laptop.

I bought this rather than an extra switch controller as it was by far the cheaper option due to having 3 dualsense controllers at home and i cannot fault the product!

I wanted to use my WII U pro controller on my switch lite, but they don’t connect natively,
so i needed to buy a 3rd party solution, well the easiest & cheapest solution is the 8bitdo wireless use adapter by 8bitdo company that works wonders 100% no lag/issues. 🙂
After ordering and getting my adapter from amazon uk in a couple of days super fast
it came with firmware v1.32, but after checking with the 8bitdo Ultimate Tool that can download & update these products. i updated my usb adapter to the latest fw it had available which was v2.02.
after that was done, i plugged the adapter in my Switch dock by Gulikit’s USB 3.0 port and turned on my switch lite, enabled usb connection (pro controller wired = ON). pressed the button on the adapter and the Sync button on my Wii U pro controller, and.. pressto!

It worked like a charm and no issues 🙂 many thanx to 8bitdo for this magnificent little piece of hardware that works wonders 🙂
now i can use my wii u pro controller on switch lite like a pro controller, when it’s not, but the wii u pro controller is knida similar to a switch pro, what with both being nintendo products and having all the similar buttons etc.

Alternate/cheaper way to use 3rd party contorllers on switch instead of pro controller!

Great little item just Synced a none genuine pad from a wii u which is one of the easiest pads and comfiest to hold, to a brand new Oled Nintendo switch and all buttons work perfectly just need to change some settings in the main menu and it’s working properly the

Does exactly what you want it to do 👍🏻

Have been considering getting a full controller for my Nintendo Switch, the Pro Controller which is still listed at the nearly 60 mark, a lesser 3rd party one for 40 or a wired one for 30 but this 8Bitdo adapter, which plugs into the USB slot on the Switch Dock, can pair with a PS4 controller or an Xbox wireless controller and even older Wii Pro Controllers.

Using my old PS4 controller (I have a PS5 now) which was just gathering dust unused, now paired to the adapter, my Switch recognises it as a Pro Controller, all the buttons on the joycons are mapped instantly to the PS4 controller, even has the motion controls and rumble feature (Vibration) so for the cost of just 14, I can now use any of my old PS4/Xbox controllers on my Switch and saved 45 on a the price of a full controller.

Bought this to use my xbox one controllers on switch.
Followed the advice of other reviews to update the firmware – did it on my mac. You can download the software from the 8bit website and it updates in seconds.
After this I simply plugged the device in, pressed the sync button and my xbox controller was paired to my switch – really impressed!

I wanted to play some PC games but didn’t have a controller. Seemed daft to buy another controller when I had a Wii U pro controller lying about. This works excellently, just plug it in, turn on the controller and it syncs – ready to go. The PC sees it as an XBOX controller I think (which has the unfortunate side-effect that the A+B and X+Y button labels are reversed but hardly a big deal).

I’d been after a new set of joy con’s but the price, in my opinion, is far too much for what will probably succumb to a fault (drifting) eventually.

So, having already got a few DS4’s lying around, I thought I’d give it a whirl.

    I was not disappointed.

This little device lets you connect your PS4/PS5, Xbox, Switch or a wide variety of other Bluetooth controllers to your switch and a selection of other consoles or your PC.

I picked this up for super cheap, about 16, to use my PS5 controller on my switch to play Monster Hunter Rise and it worked fantastically. I pretty much drained the battery on the PS5 controller the day I used it because it worked so well!

Another benefit of this is being able to connect a controller you use often to the dongle and then swap it between consoles and PC, saving yourself the small annoyance of constantly syncing it to different devices. This is a really useful device and I 100% recommend it if you already have a good controller you enjoy using and want to use it on Switch or other consoles the controller normally doesn’t work on.

This thing works unexpectedly well. Easy to follow the instructions. It allows me to use a PS4 controller on the switch which saves me a lot of money from getting another switch controller. Almost been half a year since I’ve had it and it’s still working. Very happy with the purchase.

This has allowed me to use my PS4 controller with my PC, Mac, Switch (and of course, PS4) with ease. Really simple set up, but I would suggest updating the firmware first.
You can do this by downloading the program off the 8Bitdo site and it takes seconds.

Bought this adapter so that I could use my existing Xbox Elite Series 2 controller with the Nintendo switch as I would rather do that than buy yet another controller.

When I got it the first thing I did was update the firmware which was very easy to do, plugged it into my laptop and got the software off the 8bitdo website and there was a nice wizard to click next on.

Once the firmware was sorted I then plugged it into the switch dock and pressed the button on the side of the dongle and on the controller to pair it. At first it did not work and I was wondering what was going on?

To get it to work I had to go into the switch settings and turn on ‘wired communication for pro controller’ once this checkbox was ticked the controller popped up in the arrange controllers window and it worked perfectly, now I can use my fancy xbox controller with my nintendo switch!

All synced and feels great to play Mario kart with a decent controller . Hopefully it will work for years to come

Got this adapter to go with an Xbox One controller. I had issues making my controller and adapter work. It would pair fine but wouldn’t operate anything on the Switch. Many emails back and forward and eventually got it sorted. So yeh good, but not perfect.

  30. UgojaIngraham says:

This works really well! Super easy to sync your PS4 controller, and it works with no lag, sensible button mappings – even rumble effects. Once you get past the initial weirdness of controlling Mario with a Playstation controller, it’s actually excellent.

One minor downside to note: the ‘receiver’ USB is just a wee bit too wide to fit into the hidden USB port in the back of the Switch dock if you have HDMI and power connected – so the receiver has to go into the external USB port, which could ruin the look for you. I just unplug mine when I’m not using it though, it’s not a big deal.

Got one in 2018. Works perfectly even today. Got another one early this year. Unfortunately, you can only use one per Switch since they’re so gosh darn thick. I assume you could use two if you have some sort of USB adapter, but I don’t.

I would’ve given this five stars if you could use two on one Switch, as the Switch dock does have two USB slots on the side after all. But overall, it’s an absolutely fantastic gadget; I just wish I didn’t buy the second one since I cannot use it.

Bought this as a present for my sister who owns a nintendo switch.
From the videos I have seen online this device is incredible.
You might be thinking “that’s expensive, for what’s basically just a little usb device” but that’s not the case, it might be a little USB device but you’re actually paying for the code which makes it work.
I was originally planning to buy my sister a controller for her switch but after looking at how much the controllers cost (even the alternatives) it did not seem worth going down that route. By using this adapter it will allow her to use any controller she wants which is nice because if the controllers get broken the adapter will still work with new ones. I’m sure she will be happy to use her ps3 controller with this, although it could have been better if there was a mini usb port on the adapter and a way to pair the controller without using a pc (although luckily this should only have to be done once so can be worked around).

    First impressions:
Packaging a little plain, would have prefered it it was sealed. It also had some stickers on the box but luckily those came off easily.
The adapter itself is pretty and feels nice.
Instructions very light but QR code was provided with link to detailed guide.

I briefly tested it by plugging it into my PC and updated the firmware.
It arrived with v1.33 which is one of the newer firmwares (good).
Little red led was flashing so I assume it works well, haven’t tested it extensively as I don’t want to install any software on my PC which might change my current setup, but I’m sure it works well and will make a great gift.

    Cool little device, ultimate powe

Firstly if you haven’t got a computer, you’ll need one in order to update the firmware. At first the PC wouldn’t recognize the device but I later found via YouTube out that you have to hold the sync button when first connecting it to a PC. Downloading and installing the software from 8bitdo’s website was easy.

After upgrading the firmware I then had to make setting changes to the switch in order to connect controllers, again no instructions so you’ve was my friend again.

Once connected the experience has been great, lag free gaming with an Xbox One S controller on my Nintendo Switch. Never hangs up and provided a solid connection even at a good distance.

4/5 – just get some instructions together 8bitdo!

I didn’t wanna buy 3 Switch wired/wireless controllers, so I’ve gotten 3 of these to use my PS4 controllers that I already have to 4 man couch coop everything. They’ve been working great as advertised. Quick and easy to pair, nice range and they show how much battery your controllers have on the Switch menu. I’ve tried them on my PC with the same effect, greatly satisfied. It doesn’t work with 2.4Ghz controllers like it says, tried pairing my Razer Raiju Ultimate, but it did not work. Even so, amazing product to save your money buying more controllers !

As others have said it can’t wake the Switch from sleep mode, but not really a big deal. Would highly recommend.

So I may be the only person seeking to use this product in the way that I am, and with hindsight I may have been better off with the 8BitDo G. Bros adapter for wired Wii and GameCube controllers. Nevertheless, this adapter does exactly what I want, offers greater functionality, and it works flawlessly.
So I got my grubby gaming mitts on a Capcom Vs Tatsunoko arcade fightstick originally released in 2010 for Nintendo Wii. Despite being made by the now defunct MadCatz whose legacy will be as the peddlers of cheap third-party controllers your younger sibling is forced to use, it truly is a thing of beauty, and it has enough heft to it that accidental droppage will result in a crater where your foot used to be. It works brilliantly with the titular brawler on Wii, along with a handful of other games, including some on Wii U. Unfortunately, it’s far from universally compatible with either the Wii or Wii U games library, which is disappointing. As it wasn’t cheap, I really wanted to get the best out of it, and I particularly wanted to play Street Fighter, Metal Slug, and Pacman. As it happens I have some excellent versions of these titles on Nintendo Switch. So in steps this little adapter, and once I found the perfect controller combination, I was playing like I’m in my own arcade! There’s no noticeable lag either, something which concerned me, but I didn’t need to worry. I also successfully paired a PS4 controller for good measure as I was testing it out. It also worked brilliantly.
A few things to note however, which I wished I’d known and couldn’t find any information on online, is that there are some incompatibilities where the Wii remotes are concerned. I have a number of Wii remotes, but the first 3 I tried connected to the adapter without issue, but the inputs wouldn’t register with games or the menu. These are newer controllers, fashioned after Mario characters. I have Mario, Bowser, and Toad and none of them would work (and I assume none of the others from the same series will either, but I can’t be sure). I then tried my LoZ: Skyward Sword Wii remote, and this is what allowed me to play with the fightstick. What’s odd is that all 4 are WiiMotionPlus remotes, but technically the first 3 were released for Wii U. I assumed they’d be identical, but it seems not.
So in summation, this is a fantastic adapter which I can’t recommend enough. I’m really impressed, and it’s made my arcade investment well worth it.

Dual Shock 4 connected with no problem at all, plus it looks cool. My only gripe is it is a little bulky so when you plug the hdmi next to it, it will be a tight squeeze.

Edit: After one year of owning a switch I just discovered the 2 usb ports on the side of the dock. Size is no longer an issue so upgrading to a 5 star review.

Switch controllers are overly priced and I personally don’t think they are comfortable or very good. If you are like me you already have a PS4 controller and don’t want to spend more money on another controller.
Syncing the PS4 controller is simple and I have been using it ever since when playing with the Switch docked. There have been a handful of times when it won’t connect after the switch has been asleep, I’ve found either trying the sync again or restarting the switch fixes it.

It is possible to use with a 360 controller, though this requires plugging the 8bit do into a computer and updating, I haven’t tried this yet as I just use the PS4 controller.

If you have a compatible controller and don’t want to buy another joycon/pro controller, this is the best option, it’s super cheap and just works.
