I’ve been using this product for a few months now and I’m very satisfied with it, especially in lockdown with the regular tea refills. I’ve cleaned the interior once with vinegar, which was effective (after leaving it to sit for a few hours to remove the limescale build-up). The interior and lid have remained rust free and it runs silently and efficiently on my kitchen countertop. I have the large size and enjoy the immediacy of hot water, not just for drinks, but for filling cooking pots also. I highly recommend the product having first used it in Japan, where they are very common in ryokans for guest use.

Very useful with hot water for tea/coffee always. Particularly handy when cooking. Thought it might take a lot more space but it only slightly bigger than the electric kettle.

GR8 fantastic for anyone with arthritis, no drip tray so you do need to be confident on positioning, having said that no drips anyway! Will fill most Flasks for a day out or the Thermo-cups.

Great pot does what it says, love the instant hot water for drinks. Lasted 3 years, started to smell like burning wire inside the top where electrics are. Did not cut off at the plug, good job we smelt it could have started a fire. Addis really not that bothered…. Just saying it’s out of guarantee. Addis customer services stated they had never heard of this fault before, however despite the fact that it could have caused an electrical fire, they never even asked us to supply the pot to investigate further. Bought another, as they are great, made in Germany not Addis brand!

Bought as a replacement for ecostar thermo pot that bit the dust after ten years faithful service. Firstly not as well built lid and hinge function a bit vague so you can sometimes not close it properly and not notice until you have steam pouring out the top.
No auto dispense function even though it was advertised to have one which means no one handed operation unless you want water splashing everywhere because you have to put the cup on the counter whilst dispenceing, very irritating for this multitasking female who has been making tea one handed for the last ten years.
Occasionally has a hissy fit following power cuts which are common here, reboils its self several times before it calms down and allows you to access the water.
Only time will tell if I spent my money well but I somehow doubt it will be ten more years before i replace this one.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis thermo pot is such an excellent product that I felt I had to leave a review and also the backup service from Addis (the seller).
I would strongly recommend to anyone thinking of buying one of these to do so.
Every aspect of this pot is excellent, energy efficient, lightweight with handle yet durable, only 600 Watts then only 2w to keep at boiling temp day and night, very simple to use even for elderly people, very easy to clean with a desert spoonful of citric acid. Fill to max level, press clean and it does the cleaning process, wnen cleaned carefully dispense, rinse twice and that’s it ready to go again. Probably one if not thee best product I’ve ever purchased on Amazon.
Thank you Addis and Amazon for a great product, great no quibble policy from seller and super fast delivery.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our Usershad this product running almost constantly for 3 years, not had a problem with it in that time, it has saved me so much on my energy bills (we are big tea and coffie drinkers and consume 8 or 9 cups a day minimum) and compared to a kettle it saves boiling everytime.. alot of reviewers are saying its a pain to keep clean but all i ever did was pour cheap lemonade in it over night once every couple of weeks and it kept the limescale at bay. Overall this product has been practical and usefull and i have just purchased another thankyou Addis

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersItem purchased (5L version) from Amazon and was delivered a few days later. No information was received for dispatch or delivery but ended up on the doorstep a few days after ordering. Luckily no tea leaf had decided to re-home the item before I got it. Not good.

Unpacking the item I did notice the underside rotating base was flawed as per another review but it stood flat on the work surface OK. Following the usual initial flush through it was time for tea.

I’ve been using a water dispenser (since now gone to calculator heaven as it developed a leak after 5 years) my brew was great, I must have got used to the taste of my old dispenser but this one is so much better. Water is heated to a little under boiling point and is good for tea for my taste.

Working from home during the COVID-19 lock down I drink a lot of tea during my many Zoom meetings and this thing works a treat so far. No waiting for my old dispenser to nearly boil, I can just pour the water into the mug onto the teabag and in 5 minutes I have a fine brew of Earl Grey.

I’ve been monitoring scale build up and after a week it’s pretty nominal. I did purchase a tub of citric acid power to clean it. I tried out the citric acid powder on my old faithful reserve kettle (when my old dispenser died) and it worked really well so I have few doubts as to it’s suitability on this item

In summary after a weeks use, operation is easy (drop the temperature before refilling for an hour) dispensing hot water without waiting for a mug boil and for me a much more natural tasting tea taste I must have forgotten.

One odd thing is that the water level indicator looks like it’s calibrated for a smaller capacity as when the item is filled to the max level in the boiler you can dispense a few mugs worth before you see a drop in the water level indicator. Having said that the indicator is very easy to read to give an indication of what is left in the tank.

Conclusion, so far very pleased, I will update this review if needed in the future but so far so good.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersThis device is absolutely brilliant especially given how many hot beverages are being drank now that the whole family is constantly in the house during the lockdown! Absolutely better than a kettle. Go for the 5L option if there’ll be more than 2 people using it. The only minor ‘problem’:
There are three ways to dispense water from the pot; one push (manual) dispenser and two pumps that require the device to be powered on to use them. The dispenser is at the top of the pot. This means you need the pump to dispense the water when it’s below a certain level. Why this can be a ‘problem’:
You would like a cup, there’s still plenty of cups worth and the water is still hot but the device is off. The water level is low so you need to turn the device on and use the pump to dispense. But there’s a catch: when the boiler is powered off then powered back on, it will ALWAYS start boiling and the boiling cannot be stopped until it reaches 100 degrees, then it will keep warm to your desired setting. If it had a ‘STOP BOIL’ function it would be a complete product. Absolutely not a deal breaker though!

This replaces an identical product under a different supplier’s name on which we had relied upon for some years. This one is quieter than the other one and is used many times a day. As it is a new version if identical in appearance, it is too soon to qualify on the cleaning or efficiency but if similar to the old one, there is no problem.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersThis is the second of these water boilers that I have bought. The first one lasted for several years and was in constant use all the time. 24/7 day in day out, year in year out. It finally gave out when the latch for the lid came out and I couldn’t fit it back in. So I decided that after years of constant service it deserved a rest.
I also decided that it’s replacement would be the exact same model. I am now hoping for the same excellent service, from this new Thermo pot, that I had from it’s predecessor. I see no reason why not. This is an excellent, excellent product. Heartily recommended.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI got this primarily for camping, which I know seems strange but it was going to be a camping unit without a water heater, so my thought was to keep this at 40′ and use for hot water, which it would have done.
However after giving it a go, it seems pretty good, you can either use the pump to extract water. it does this it seems by pumping air in and forcing the water out, it is not a water pump. Of if you have it with out electric, so you can use it as a thermos… by unlocking the top, you can hand pump the water out. The pictures of the different settings for temperature are a bit misleading as its near impossible to see them and i relied on the position of the arrow from the picture on the display, which is a little amiss, so not max starts if the temp gradient was lit up it would be perfect. This unit is available in many different guises ie. badges.

We bought this for the local hospital, as they only had a HUGE broken Birko. With this dispenser the water is kept just off the boil, which gives you instant hot water at the top setting. You also have a choice of other temperatures which is the perfect option for green teas and coffee. As far as convenience, its great, but it COULD look a little better, and although its very light and movable, it seems slightly cheaply made. Saying that, I have had no problems with it so far.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersPROS:

    1) Hot water virtually on tap
    2) Energy efficiency
    3) Large capacity
    4) Quality build
    5) Ease of use
    6) No large emission of steam when it boils.

    CONS:

    1) Forgetting to fill means you have to wait 40-50mins for a “cuppa”
    2) Forces you into regular cleaning (by guilt rather than by design)
    3) Large (as expected) space required

I was originally looking at a one cup kettle/dispenser which seemed like the answer to my energy efficiency and time efficiency requirements. However, when you realise that a lot of the one shot/cup kettles run on 2 to 3kWh you realise what a lot of energy that is to boil one cup. (Yes, I realise that’s the energy per hour, before anyone comments!) This Addis Thermo Pot uses only 680W to boil 5 litres of water and 2W per hour to keep it warm. Thus it’s significantl;y more energy efficient. Against a traditional kettle it is more expensive (dependent on kettle) however, against a one cup kettle/dispenser it’s fractionally more expensive.

I get up at stupid o’clock to commute to London and I often take a flask of coffee. Before this thermo pot I would have to go downstairs and boil it, and after ablutions, have to reboil and make the coffee. Of course at 0400hrs in the morning all noises are amplified, so even though we have a stone cottage, a click of the kettle switch and the boiling of it often sound like the World’s coming to an end. The Thermo Pot means that I only make one trip downstairs and the coffee is made in a much quieter and efficient way.

I have 4 older kids who turn up with boyfriends/girlfriends and by the time we have my mum and others we can easily have 12 or 13 people wanting a hot drink. That means we need around 4 – 4.5 litres of boiling water. That would mean boiling a normal kettle (1.7L) 3 times to serve everyone at the same time. Since we got this, we all sit round the kitchen table with our drinks at the same time…..brilliant!

So what are the downsides? If you don’t have a lot of space or sufficient kitchen surface area this is rather large, though the footprint is not much more than a normal kettle. It is however, considerably taller, though it probably will fit beneath a cupboard (I’ve not tried). The next problem is that if you forget to fill it, and I do try to remember to fill up before I go to bed, it can take between 40-50mins for it to boil. Then the other problem is that you are guilt tripped into cleaning it around once a month. This is time consuming and puts your Thermo Pot out of action for around 2hours. It involves adding citric acid to cold water and boiling it in the Thermo Pot, then running the whole pot empty. Then you have to refill and reboil and empty half of the water to flush the remains of any citric acid. By the time you’ve topped up the 50% you’ve spent 2 hours of your life cleaning. If you let it fur up, the efficiency will be reduced and there’s potential for the dispensing spout to clog up. Having mentioned dispensing, there’s two ways to do this. One, is using an electronically locked button (just requires press of an unlock button). The other way is to push down a manual “plunger” like in normal pump pots (the type you get at workshops, meetings etc). The rate of flow seems “psychologically” faster with the manual pump, but I don’t think it is.

Other things to note are that this is relatively safe. God forbid a child should pull this over, I wager, that the potential damage is potentially less than if a child pulled a boiling kettle over (please make sure you use common sense!) since there is no opening permanently open. Filling/refilling is accomplished by lifting a well secured lid and adding water via a jug. I have an IKEA fridge jug that requires 3 fillings to fill the pot. This also weighs over 5kg when full (1litre of water = 1kg) so it’s not something to attempt to carry around from room to room, though it does have a handle. Lastly, you cannot evacuate the pot completely since it works on vacuum pressure. When you’re cleaning this, the last remnants of water need to be tipped out since you can’t use either the push pump or the electric dispenser for the last 200mls. That means carrying it to the sink and inverting it which is not an easy feat to keep the lid open, the handle out of the way, and to make sure you don’t scald yourself. For this reason, if you are an elderly person or couple, who have no additional regular help, I would not recommend this product to you. However, if you are able bodied, have a lot of friends or family, or just like the idea of having plenty of boiling hot water on tap, this is for you. BUY IT!! It’s Dottore Approved!

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI have monitored the power usage and having it on 24 hours is equivalent to 4 kettle boils of our old kettle. I would recommend this as there is nothing better than having to make the tea and not having to wait for the kettle to boil. Easy to use. I’ve used it with a plug-in timer, so I fill it up at bedtime and with the use of the plug-in timer, boiling water is ready for when I get up. The only fault I’ve found is that when the water has nearly gone (enough left for two mugs) the pump will no longer work. The empty light is not on at this stage so can’t say if that works. It’s a minor problem that I can live with.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersBought for my elderly father, who really likes it. Much safer for him than pouring from a kettle that has just boiled. It is easily filled & as he has poor sight it suprised me that he can see the water level clearly. (When discharging the level is iluminated). He likes the fact it is always kept just off the boil (on the hottest setting, there are cooler levels if required). Up to now it was been reliable & uses only low power to stay hot, which in the long term will be better too.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersBought this product to help me as I have some mobility problems and can become distracted and unsafe in the kitchen at times. This water boiler is great. I can make myself drinks all day with minimal effort, there’s no noisy reboiling or struggling to lift the kettle. It uses less energy being on 24hrs than it would boiling the kettle every time you want a cuppa. We conveniently have the temperature set to 85* as we drink black tea/coffee so we’re not wasting energy boiling to 100* then cooling with cold water like we used to. We all have noticed we drink more too which is great for keeping our fluid intake up. We only need to top it up once per day but depends upon your use. My carers use it with cooking e.g. to get veg boiling, make instant gravy etc. Our carers, family and friends seem to all think it’s great too. Cheaper than a boiling water tap!

A very useful addition to the kitchen. Specially recommended for people with disabilities where using a normal electric kettle is dangerous.
Temperature setting display very difficult to read.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersElectrical voltage spikes ruined my Toshiba hot pot and this is its replacement. Thus far it works fine, and, given that we like regular hot drinks, must save a significant amount on our electric bill. It is so useful for cooking, saving loads of time when poaching eggs or just cooking veg..

I have Rheumatoid Artharitas in my hands and this is absolute brilliant. It keeps the water hot all the time. I have found that the temp has to go down less than 94 to reboil. It does this automatically so really it’s not a problem. I love it so buy one you will not regret it. Also very easy to clean too

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis product is does what it says and does it really good . I originally got one for on my donut trailer as I was spending over 10.00 per day on hot drinks . I loved it that much I decided to get one for our kitchen at home .

Iv seen on w few reviews some ppl are saying it’s not to hot however it’s as hot as any kettle iv used.

The only reason for the 4 star review is the build quality isn’t amazing only little things but it wasn’t how it should be

    Looks good and works great!
Slow delivery of hot water but maybe that’s a safety feature. Can’t get water out while the heater is operating otherwise excellent.
