Very comfortable, had the openmove which caused pain at the back of my ears – these dont have that problem, and the sound is an improvement from them (not by much).

However something I have noticed that I didn’t with those is that these seem a little loose. Not that they’ll fall off but it sounds like I’m listening through a pipe – the highs arw a tiny bit muffled. If I apply a (very light) couple of grams of pressure on either side the problem goes away. Slightly frustrating but I can’t think of a solution. This is only a problem with some songs however – with extreme deep bass. Because there is an alternative eq that seems to reduce the mid emphasis (I say mid but it’s 125-250hz), but while most basses are ok, very low basses (closer to that 20hz limit), thats where the bass goes away with this alternative eq – which makes me sad because I like my DEEP bass. Furthermore, it doesnt entirely eliminate the problem, some songs still sound incredibly tubey – lacking the treble. Then again these are not designed for that purpose. I’ve managed to sort of fix the problem with another custom equaliser in my phone’s settings. But again it impacts the bass which is sad.

I’ll be keeping them anyway. Great for running, none of the *thud*, *thud* you get with normal headphones or earphones when running. I find I can finally zone out while running.

Ive paired these with some loop reusable ear plugs in order to achieve better noise isolation than I’ve ever experienced before (and I’ve had many active noise cancelling earbuds and headphones including the Anker Soundcore Life P3s – which are great don’t get me wrong, best in-ear buds I’ve ever used, especially for the price; and the Sony WH1000-XM3 – which are also great).

These are fantastic for any kind of exercise, they have a good battery life, are waterproof and light weight. I bought them for cycling, walking and running.

    Much better than 2nd Ge
I’ve used the second gen for a number of years, mainly for cycling. This generation has significant improvements in sound quality, comfort and telephone calls. I now use these daily for work, walking and cycling. The sound is not comparable to wired headphones or earbuds for immersive music listening but a decent allrounder.

A revolution for the hard of hearing
My hearing is poor, even with normal hearing aids. For some time now I have been unable to follow TV programmes without subtitles.Music, which I have always loved, is now often quite annoying to me since I cannot hear it properly. I had heard about Aeropex. It is a revelation. I can now follow speech easily and enjoy music as before as long as the TV,radio, phone etc has a bluetooth connection. They are also very much cheaper than any hearing aids.

    Great running headphones
After several in-ear variations i decided to try theses as they are the only design that allow you to hear traffoc also, which in a rural location was key for me. Very light, excellent quality, fast to charge and super easy to team with my garmin and spotify. Only minor criticism is the fiddly volume control and does not like to “rewind” a song. Other than that this is an excellent product for running.

I like them, but they ll not be for everyone.
Really like these and have found them fairly comfortable when wearing for extended periods. Battery life is good and the sound is not too bad. The volume could be allowed to go higher though and if the band was adjustable for round the back of the head/neck, that would be great too. They re not really noise cancelling unless you use ear plugs with them. The quality of the sound is pretty good but as I ve said, ideally could do with a little more allowed volume. I like em, I like em a lot. Recommend!

Good product for what it was designed for. If you want depth of music don’t get these as it’s very tinny perfect for listen to background music while running and being able to hear everything else that’s going on around you

    Perfect for my hearing deficiency.
I have a 78% hearing loss at higher frequencys in my left ear and with these it just seem not to matter. So mutch better than in/over the ear headphones for me. And with earplugs in the bass response is great.
I don’t find them much good for cycling due to the noise of the wind. They do work if you put earplugs in too but that kind of defeats the object of the open ear design for safety on the road.
Ive not used the noise cancelling feature so can’t comment on that.
Just want some I could use in the swimming pool now.

    Well worth it!
I’m a window cleaner and these headphones are perfect.

You can hear what’s going on around you, have conversations with customers, all while hearing your music and the controls are easily accessible.

The sound is good, not fully immersive but that’s not what these are for, yes there are vibrations which sometimes tickles but it’s not distracting.

Battery lasts about 8 hours but charges quick.

Glad I tried these, well worth it.

Love them, use them every day!
I’ve had the Aftershocks for 4 months now and they’re fantastic. I use them to listen to podcasts, for work calls on zoom, and for hands free phone calls. They connect to my phone/laptop easily, the sound quality is great.

Downsides – they aren’t comfortable to lie down/sleep in (I use them for the Calm app), but having said they they are as comfortable as any others, I haven’t found great ones for night time. The volume control could be more sensitive, the jump is too loud/quiet and I use the volume control via my phone to get the correct volume.

These are slight downsides though, I would definitely recommend them.

    Easy to use
The greatest problem I was having was finding earphones that would stay in place when active. This does so spectacularly well compared to the others I have tried and are very comfortable. I have not rated noise cancellation because they don’t even go in the ears and I haven’t used them when it would be useful. I did not buy these for noise cancellation. There are earplugs supplied but I suspect they would be no different to any you can buy in a chemist. Sound quality is good – I use them for spoken word not music.

    Fine sounding at moderate levels
Comfortable design and very light weight, barely know I have them on.sound is clean and distinct at normal levels, turn them up to max and sound gets a bit ragged .I never expected them to compete with HI-FI quality headphones and to do so would be unrealistic ,but for on the move earphones/Mic ear piece they work well

    No more sore ears
I wish I’d discovered these years ago.
Yes they are expensive, but worth saving for. I’ve never been able to wear buds or headphones as they give me inner earache. These are perfect. I can’t believe how good the sound is, I can wear them when working and still be aware with what’s going on. I can now listen to podcasts while walking the dog as I feel safe being able to hear everything else. You’d think being able to hear other things would put you off but it doesn’t. Charging is fast enough for me and the battery life is also good. Easy to pause and adjust volume without pulling out my phone. Very soft and comfortable to wear. No complaints. Highly recommended!

    Unfortunately un-repairable!
I bought these headphones in November 2019 and have used them pretty much every day since, either walking the dog or cycling. They are particularly good when cycling so that traffic can be heard, although on busy roads the traffic takes over!
My only gripe is that something has worked loose in the left hand unit which distorts the sound. I can hear something rattling around, but as the unit is sealed I fear it cannot be repaired.
I guess two years use isn’t bad, but am unwilling to fork over another 120 for a replacement at this time.

    Great for activities
Absolutely love these, I use them for the commute and running. I got them because a marathon I am entering said they were the only make they would allow as some governing body authorises them.

Was sceptical as have had bone conducting earphones in the past that weren’t great. These are brilliant, loud enough to still hear over heavy traffic but allow awareness.

I listen to podcasts in the main or talk radio and the sound quality is superb given they aren’t in ear.

They are pricey but worth every penny, can’t recommend highly enough!

Superb as long as they connect to your device
These are a great set of headphones for workouts of any kind or just using for work. I have problems with my hearing and because these sit in the outside they don’t cause me any problems.

What I would say is check they work with your device before buying. I have a garmin watch which they work fine with. But they won’t connect to me apple phone at all.

Just check if you are planning on using these with your phone that they will connect.

    Other than that there perfec

    I love these
You must know what you are buying. If you are looking for a quality of sound compared to a Xiberia gaming headset, then you will be disappointed. Also, not sure what they mean with “great noise cancellation”. I mean, how can it be? Your ear is fully exposed to the environmental noise, THAT is exactly what you want with this kind of headset. If I want to be isolated from the rest of the world I use the above mentioned Xiberia, and I don’t even hear the dog.
You can safely run, walk the dog, and even ride a bike while listening to your favorite music and still be connected with the world like people calling or cars approaching. Riding with the wind is another matter. You definitely hear also the wind.
Said this I’m super happy of this item. I paired it with my computer and done some conference call, and it is also super comfortable for phone calls.
One “defect” (no big deal): the arc behind your head is fixed length. This turns out to be a little uncomfortable if you wear a hat unless your head is exactly the size of the arc :-). It fits perfectly if you wear a bicycle helmet though, because there’s no contact.
I know this seems a negative review, but it’s not. I totally subscribe the good comments/reviews others have made, and I recommend this item as a good solution to ride/run+music+safety

These are great for running and cycling
I read the reviews and took the plunge. I am so glad I did as these headphones are so good. Not only do I use them for running and cycling, leaving me free to hear surrounding traffic etc, but they are great when working as I can listen to music, but also be totally aware of my surroundings and not have that “cut off” from the office feeling that you can get with in ear headphones. I find the sound quality absolutely fine. It feels like being in a room listening to high quality speakers, but you can still hear your surroundings. I really don’t think you would be disappointed with these headphone.

Very good. Could benefit from an App
Positives – good sound. Comfortable. Connectivity to 2 devices at once.
Suggested improvements – could do with an App to assist with controlling which 2 devices you want connected.
Volume up button sometimes doesn’t work on 2nd or 3rd push as it is a multi function button and it ‘thinks’ I’m trying to find out battery status.
Would be 5 stars otherwise. I would definitely recommend this product.

    Very impressive
Had fancied a pair of these for a while but took ages to take the plunge as wasn’t sure how the sound quality would be. In the event, I’m really impressed. It isn’t quite as good as my similarly priced in-ear buds but it is very good, lots of detail and even the bass is better than you’d think it would be. Bought for running and they are ideal for that purpose – comfortable, stay put and the big thing for me is that you can still hear the world around you. Would recommend to anyone who wants good quality sound whilst not blocking out the outside environment.

    Great headphones
Very comfortable for running long distance. Not very loud though, and you can feel vibrations on your cheek bones at full volume thought I knew this before purchasing.
Sound quality is not great and there is no noise cancellation but that’s the reason I bought them. Very good build quality and super easy to use.

    Seriously impressed!
Ever wanted to run with music, but don’t because you’re concerned about the safety implications of running near traffic with impaired hearing? Then these are for you. A runner’s dream come true. In an age where the majority of the headphone market are all about noise cancelling technology, these are the opposite. Designed so you can still hear the world around you. I’ve also always had issues with any in-ear headphones staying on while I run – they always fall out, unless they have an over ear loop. These are sooooo light & comfortable it’s unbelievable. I could do burpees in these & they wouldn’t move. Seriously, seriously impressed. Grab them while they’re 30 off!

Fantastic for running and awesome headphones
I was initially a bit wary of whether these were just an expensive gimmick. However, I thought I’d give them a try because I was running in a half marathon and only bone conductor headphones were allowed. I hadn’t run without music so had nothing to lose as there was no way I was going to run nearly 2 hours without music. These are amazing, really clear sound and the battery life is also really good. I have now stopped using my previous wireless headphones and use these when running, biking and in the gym. They are really comfortable and I often forget I am even wearing them. When out running or biking can hear traffic as well as the headphones and it feels so much safer. If I ever have to replace these it will be for a newer version.

    Good sports headphone
An overall excellent sports headphones, with the flaw of being bit overpriced.

    The Pros:
-product is light weight and compact, good mini alistic design
    -comfortable and sturdy in use
-clear and good sound quality, with earplug if you wishes to block out the noise from outside

    The Cons:
-Pricy, although sound quality is good it doesn’t quite meet the expectations of the price tag
-The voice over for operating the headphones is poor and robotic, sounds like some 20-30 wireless headset/headphones .
-and the quality for answer phone calls are bad, music for workout is fine though

Also, Amazon’s review includes a noise cancelling score, which is useless for the OPEN EAR headset. Those who wants these products are not looking for cancelling outside sound.

    All-round awesome!!
Can’t argue with the fact that they are an expensive bit of kit but in my opinion they are definitely worth it. Very good sound volume and quality, pair and controlled easily with my mobile and comfortable to wear. If you want/need to be totally immersed in sound then some ear plugs would be needed. However, these headphones have some clear benefits; at lower volumes they don’t completely shut you off from your surroundings (a definite plus for safety), the batteries last a long time (even if you forget to turn them off), they are waterproof (not swimproof) and can be comfortable to wear in bed. Another health benefit is that because you are not putting anything into your ears, as you would with ear buds, you don’t increase the risk of ear infections. What’s not to like?
In short, quite a pricey outlay, but a superb product.

    Excellent produc
I use the headphones so much. My son bought a pair so I was able to try his on, a complete revelation. With home working and zoom going on I can’t have audiobooks/podcasts at a high enough level to hear above usual kitchen noise. The Aeropex are perfect for me, I’m not cut off from hearing the door etc. Infact if I’ve turned them off to have a conversation I forget I’ve still got them on! Just used for the first time on a long train journey, was able to keep an ear out for any announcements. Great battery life and weighs nothing in my bag. I did buy a rigid case to protect them as they are really important to me now! Just delighted with them.

    My GO TO Headphones
These are the best. There are times I dont even KNOW i am wearing them apart from the low ambient music (I set it on low volume). Im so used to always having these on that my whole day has music playing just in the background!

I can have full conversations with people WHILE listening to music.

ALSO its great for picking up phone calls.

Ive bought 3 aftershokz over the past 3-4 years. I have other headsets for various reasons, but these are the ones I pick up for: dog walks, bike rides, gym, shopping, cooking….

HIGHLY recommend giving these a go.

On the flip side: not the best for sound quality – but not noticeable if youre using it for the purpose its meant (ie: getting on with things and being present while having music in the background). There is NO noise cancellation – thats the point, you got these to hear your surroundings.

    Great for running
I used to run with ear buds, but after a few near misses with cars passing me far too closely from behind on country lanes, I decided to leave them at home.
I do miss the beats though. So, I bought these aftershockz headphones to see if they were any good.
I’ve run with them for a couple of weeks and really like them. They’re really light and they fit well. I almost forget that I have them on, sometimes. The audio is much better than I thought it would be. As others have said, they lack base. Still, good enough for running. I also took a call with them today and they were crystal clear.
When there is a lot of traffic, their sound does get drowned out, but I don’t mind that as I want to be aware of my surroundings. I love that I can hear cars approaching now and can move to safety if required.
Now I get the best of both worlds, I can enjoy some upbeat tunes, remain more aware of my surroundings and feel much safer.

    Excellent for walking/running/gym
I was looking for headphones that don’t fall out when running. Stumbled across the AfterShokz range and due to good reviews went for them. The bone conducting is great, really pleased with them. If the volume is turned up the vibration can feel a bit odd next to your ear, but soon goes with sweating. As they are not in ear you can hear your surroundings better. Sound quality is good but not as good as in ear. They feel totally secure when on which was the main reason for buying. Very happy.

WOW I can hear music again, in higher fidelity
In my youth, I am now the other side of fifty, I used to hear music in all its glory and fidelity, having had ultra-sensitive ears and the capability to hear in high definition, something I have been trying to recapture this sensation through multiple sound systems, high-end earphones and speakers. Who would have know that my eardrums are not as they used to be, and that bypassing the system would bring back a wholly forgotten aspect of my hearing. Like Beethoven — who started to experience hearing loss as he grew older — discovered that by holding his conducting baton between his teeth as he played piano, teh earphones enable me to hear songs again in the same way, that I did on my walkman (viva los eighties) while studying for entry to Uni. Unlike Beethoven, I have not needed to wait to hear in heaven. Quite the contrary, simply amazed and thankful for the technology, now to get on my Mountain Bike and test them in the wild.

    Excellent headse
With nearly 18k reviews, which is very suspicious, and almost twice the price of the next competitive headset, I did not think that I would like these but I do and here’s why.

I can wear them with glasses and I can use them whilst lying down. The material appears to be of a high quality and so they should last a few years – I think the band contains a titanium wire.

They are very water resistant and have a decent runtime of over 8hrs. Plus they have a great silicone protective covering and a great, thick, silicone case.

I’ve tried several conduction headsets and these are a magnitude better than the next expensive headset in every way.

Surprisingly, these have what no other headset I have tried has – Bass. But, you must block your ears, for which they provide you with plugs. I use my motorcycle filters which are far more comfortable. Because of the bass and plug thing, you sort of get the best of both conduction technology and in-ear phones.
The conduction benefits are when out and about but then in-ear type headphone benefits of bass filled music at had when listening in private. I think the bass issue is more down to physics and so something that no conduction headset will be able to truly provide. If that is the case, what Aftershokz have achieved is even more incredible and makes them even more the only choice in the marketplace to date.

I’ve been on a bit of a journey with trying to find a conduction headset. These are the third and most expensive pair I’ve tried and I’m even happy at the price as I now know that these really are the best on the market and are precisely what I was looking for – well done Aftershokz.

I’m hoping they really do last but I was finally won over by the two year warranty which I think shows a great deal of confidence by the manufacturer.

I did read all the Amazon reviews and can only say that, as a result of the issues raised by some, I will always wipe the terminals if wet and before charging. For safety, I already use a timer plug when charging any of my gadgets to prevent over-charging and I will always use earplugs when I want to listen to music in private.

    Hope this review helps

    Absolutely love these
Absolutely love these headphones! They are the best bone conducting headphones I’ve used. Really clear sound and good quality. It will never be as immersive as in ear headphones but they still have a rich sound and good bass.

Very comfortable to wear and lightweight! Sometimes I forget I have them in my head. They are well balanced and secure when running too and do not move about at all

Be mindful they do vibrate if you turn the volume up full but there isn’t really a need to have the volume full as the sound is clear at lower levels

Only niggle is that it’s not as quick or easy to switch between devices as you have to go through the pairing process with new Bluetooth gadgets

Overall though – these are excellent headphones, well worth the money and I highly recommend these for everybody, not just runners

Great product at a great price (paid 120 for them from there site special deal)I have now used them a number of times and don’t know why I did not get these before! They never fall out as not in your ear battery last a long time and sound although not as good as in ear head phones great for running on the open road as you can hear what’s going on around you all the time. I don’t need any fancy features I just want a headset that does the job and these are superb I run 3 times a week and I like the fact that when I put them on it tells me the battery situation and also so fast at pairing with my running watch or phone. So all in all a great product and suits me

These are brilliant, especially for hearing loss
I cannot begin to explain how brilliant these are. Prior to buying them the reviews said that the sound quality was not the greatest. In the past I have used Bose and maybe the sound quality of these is not as good as these BUT, I have around 75% ish hearing lost in my left ear. Also I have really quite small ears so cannot fit earbuds in my ears. These are life changingly good. Like I can listen to my music. I can take calls. It is brilliant. The only teeny tiny complaint would be they don’t look like headphones so they don’t have that effect of people leave you alone but they are wonderful and I would highly recommend them to anyone but especially if you have hearing loss (obviously consult your doctor and depends on why you have hearing loss).
Only thing I marked these down on is noise cancelling. They don’t do noise cancelling.

Oh! Wow! I was truly amazed when I tried these for the first time. They arrived on 27th, they charged really quickly and I was wearing them on my dog walk straight after. I have problems with ear buds as my ear canals are small and finding these has been a game changer. Very comfortable to wear and so so easy to use. I was amazed at the sound quality. Very clear, no interference/buzzing or distortion. Volume control so simple to change and quick. I could still hear my surroundings if I wanted to (my dog running and sniffing) but could still listen to a podcast clearly and crisply. Love, love these! Would definitely recommend. Very happy custome

Great Headphones, but don't expect bass
Had previously owned the TredzAir version, but upgraded when I needed to replace them.
The sound quality is great, although not an abundance of bass, but then these are small bone-conducting headphones.

Bought them to listen to music and podcasts whilst out on a run, hence the bone-conducting part.
They work perfectly for that, and better than the previous model I had.

It does use a magnetic USB charging cable. Whilst this is very easy to use, it is a shame that it does not use a standard micro USB cable. Now if I go away for a few days and want to use these quite a bit, I have to remember to take yet another cable with me.

Overall though, these are fantastic and I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase them again.

    Great for running with awareness
Given their intended purpose of providing audio while maintaining awareness of surroundings they are great. Music sounds surprisingly good, and they are invaluable for directions when running new routes using something like komoot for planning. It can be hard to hear when alongside busy, noisy traffic but I think that’s pretty unavoidable with this technology and not a fault.

They drop one star because there is no feedback for when the assistant is activated and ready to accept voice commands. The assistant is useful if you have your phone zipped away while running.

If you accidentally press the button twice for the assistant it redials the last phone number which is NEVER what I want to happen! I wish this could be disabled and there was a beep when the assistant was waiting for commands.

Useful headphones for running in places where you need to be ale
These are my second Aftershokz headphones. I previously had the Trekz but they gave me ear fatigue, so I got the Aeropex.

They’re definitely lighter than the Trekz, with a kind of velvety feel. The battery life is a bit better and the sound is as expected. My only issue is that they don’t automatically shut down if they’ve been left on without being used. Cheaper models can do this, so I’m not sure why these can’t – it was the same with the Trekz as well.

I’ve been able to wear them with sunglasses and either a headband, visor or cap, without experiencing ear fatigue, and I don’t run in anything else. You will have to adjust the sound as you change environments but that’s not a big deal to me. I can hear everything around me, which is one of the main benefits of owning them.

I wish I had bought these in the first instance but you live and learn. If you can get them on special offer or at a discount price, buy them! Either way, they’re definitely worth it.

My first review was accurate BUT THE HEADPHONES TOTALLY FAILED AFTER APPROX 4/5 WEEKS AND THE SELLERS AFTER SOME PUSHING SAID THEY WOULD REPLACE ASAP. WELL THIS IS N OT GREAT AS I HAVE NOW BEEN WITHOUT THE HEADPHONES FOR SOME TIME AND AM GETTING FED UP WHICH I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT COULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY RETURN POST/LOGISTICS FIRM.
HARD TO RECOMMEND IN ANY WAY EITHER THE PRODUCT OR THE SELLER. CONTACTING AMAZON NOT VERY HELPFUL AT ALL SEEMING TO AVOID RESPONSIBILTY AS THIRD PARTY SELLER, I LOVE THIS AS SOLD ON THE AMAZON WEBSITE !!!!

Good product to allow near headphone advantages and not shutting out the world . Much safer in the street than a closed system and good enough quality of sound.

Very good - just understand what you’re getting
So the main benefit of these is that you can hear your audio whilst also hearing your surroundings. You aren’t getting earth shattering audio quality – you’re getting utility – and for that they are very good.

The audio quality is hard to describe really. It’s crisp and clear, just with barely any bass. People say this sounds like cheap earphones.. that isn’t true. Cheap earphones are muffled and shrill.

I bought as my AirPods block out my surroundings so I don’t hear people calling me or the doorbell etc, but with these I’m still aware of surroundings. You can’t really hold a conversation with them on and playing music at a good volume, but you can tell that someone is calling you etc.

The pause button on the side is useful.
Other reviews say the alert beep is loud – I think it’s totally fine.
The magnetic charger is nice and it is good that you get two.
Initially I found them quite uncomfortable but this passed. They’re not quite as comfortable as the AirPods – I never forget that I’m wearing them – but they’re fine.
You can’t lie down wearing them.

    Hope this helps someone.

Comfortable, clear and easy to use
What a great product. Comfortable fit sitting on the face rather than squashing down the ears, innovative way of hearing through use of the bone rather than the ear canal and ear drum, and slide easily down and into place. The sound quality is great, clear and depending on volume not audible to others around you. The mic picks up audio well and is clear to others you are talking to. Lightweight, charge quickly and easy to use with the on/off button, volume controls and the multifunction button – kept simple! The only thing that is a down for me, is that if you wear them the whole day, it can start to make my jaw ache a little, which I imagine if the vibrations that run through it, and when I take them off where the pads have been can feel a bit warm and stiff – but once I’ve massaged the area feels fine again. Highly recommend.

Aftershokz Aeropex - Fantastic boneconduction headphones
After two years of use, one warranty swop out, these have been fantastic !
I will not hesitate to recomend them for use.

Just to be clear, I tend to use them (the Aftershokz Aeropex) all day long now, for general listening and workouts, and my other studio audio grade headsets and earphones for different purposes.

Have now purchased the Aftershokz OpenComm headset to test for conference call use. Will update with a review on those after a year or so of use.

The overall value of my review, is to those discerning buyers, who are not looking for a passing review of a product, rather a genuine, long-term user review, and then to give the review appropriate weight in a buying decision. I do this to help. Hope it does.

Comfort and good awareness to surroundings while still getting good playback
Device look and feel great when worn, could easily leave these on all day without any discomfort. Used them a few times now for walking, running and cycling. No problems wearing these with my Oakley Flak 2.0 and cycle helmet (and face mask) who would’ve thought our ears would be so utilised for wearables in 2020/21.

Had a couple of issues with them where they stop playing my music either because the BT drops between phone and devices or it still shows connected but for some other reason the music has stopped/paused. Not a issue I’ve had with wired earphones previously on the same phone, will have to continue testing to see what could be causing this. Possible my phone is registering a touch on the screen to stop the music playback in my pocket, but I find this unlikely.

Only other annoyance I had was my phone (currently OnePlus 6T) reports the battery level on the connected BT device, it was showing 20% when I left work but I only got 20mins use out of them before the battery was flat. Managed to power them back on and phone was still reporting 20% battery but the device turned off immediately when I tried to use them for playback. I now know not to rely on the reported battery level via my phone screen which isn’t a major concern. More a nice to have if I can get an accurate battery level reading

    Great for running
I had a pair of the old corded Aftershokz and have absolutely loved them, so when these were put on sale I finally treated myself. They arrived today and I have already taken them out for a run to test them out. Bluetooth 5.0 is great, I have them paired to my phone and my laptop and they switch between the two easily (check the user manual for multiple pairing, it is a setting that needs to be turned on). The sound quality is a step up from the old version, and they are so light I could almost forget I was wearing them. the IP67 rating means I don’t have to worry about taking them out in the rain. It came with a running belt, a very snazzy pouch, and 2 charging cables, the spare charging cable is a great touch. Can’t comment too much on battery life, but there is great audio prompts when you turn them on to let you know how much battery you have left, considering I have run out of battery 5 minutes into a run using the old set (and then had to run half an hour with no music), this is a massively appreciated addition.
All in all, I am absolutely loving them and am definitely glad I treated myself.

    That is what I need
I initially bought Jaybird Tarah Pro for workout that include skipping rope after watching reviews on Youtube. Users were claiming Jaybird are great for running and some wrote that jumping should not be a problem. It was a total failure! Headphones got out of my ears on multiple occasions and flew to the neighbors backyard. The sound was good only if you don’t move. So I was looking for the alternative…

I have decided to risk and get Aftershocks and they didn’t disappointed me so far. You can do skipping rope for several minutes without any problem. The sound is also pretty decent – it is better than Jaybird! plus you can hear your surrounding. Some people mentioned buzzing/vibrating sensation with them – no issue like that from my experience. Spouse said she cannot hear music while I wear them. All controls are there – pause, skipping tracks, volume and answering calls. I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone with active lifestyle.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat headphones
I bought these headphones for walking during Covid. I walk mostly on my own so enjoy music or podcasts but noise cancelling headphones can be quite aggressive and isolate the user from the natural environment. These allow me to enjoy the outside without getting mugged or run over whilst still benefiting from music. They produce clear sound, you don’t get full bass like with in ear headphones but they are not tinny. I really like the balance they strike. I would be happy to wear these cycling and in a work from home environment they would be ideal. They do pick up some background sounds but no more than others I would say. Definitely recommended.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersUnique listening experience - great for use in shared spaces or lone wome
I’m not a techie or an full on audiophile — just a regular person who enjoys a variety of music styles and podcasts on the go. My motivation for getting these was primarily for use when out alone after dark both dog walking and running, which is not always safe when you have one of your sensory systems is disabled.

It is a new experience being able to hear both the music in my head and people talking to me or traffic passing by and it’s really quite impressive. The sound quality is good. For the same price, I’d want to be blown away by the quality of an in-ear or over-ear bit of kit, but that’s not what these are. The sound quality is not much better than old my 40 earbuds, but I couldn’t wear those in a shared workspace without cutting myself off from surrounding conversations, they didn’t allow me to do my own thing at home without disengaging from family life and they didn’t give me the freedom to confidently listen to anything when out on my own after dark. These are pretty nifty and what you’re getting for your money is both inclusion and freedom as well as sound quality.

In terms of Cons, these are not adjustable and, as a petite woman, I find they don’t always site 100% right. This can also be affected by my choice of clothes, headgear or hairstyles. But generally they are comfortable and they always sit correctly enough to work well. I wouldn’t recommend if you intend to use lots while lying flat (I do on occasion in bed, but they can push up at the back and be a little annoying. Again, this could be because I’m on the smaller side). I have not used the accompanying earplugs as noise cancelling is not what I’m currently after, but these will probably be necessary at the gym etc where there is loud background noise.

Back to Pros – another plus is the battery life — it lasts for hours. And when it does run low, the warning is given well in advance of shutdown so you don’t just suddenly lose it mid workout (I got the warning as I headed out the door recently and was still listening when I returned 45 minutes later. I haven’t pushed how much longer they would have lasted beyond that).

Noise leakage doesn’t seem to be a problem – I haven’t been blasting techo at full volume but have listened to podcasts and music in quiet spaces and in bed with my partner and been told it’s not noticeable to anyone in close range.

Overall, whilst these are not perfect for me — and are not cheap — they are a clever bit of kit and I would recommend or gift them to others.

Great innovation but need to keep your expectations low
This is my first encounter with bone conducting technology, I had over exaggerated expectations that turned out to be false, yet I’m still pleased with some aspect of it. Just to point out that I don’t have issues with ear canal or membrane, I bought them purely to try out new tech. So..
    Positives:
    – Light and comfy, none of negative reviews regarding issues with pressing on cheekbones or awkward design are true. They are extremely light, easy to put on and comfortable to listen to music for long time(I used them while working for several hours)
-Quick to charge and battery last for long. I haven’t charged it for 3 days although I’ve used it a lot.
-Last but not last – loved packaging, design and all accessories coming with it.
    Negatives:
-Music can be heard by people around when it’s around maximum
-Expected to hear well everything around me while music is playing(good use for cycling), however when music is turned on more than 50%, I can’t hear anything
-Sound quality could be better than expected

Pleasantly surprised at the quality of audio and how well the bone-conduction technology works
Surprisingly little sacrificed in terms of audio quality, podcasts, speaking etc is excellent. Listening to music is not quite as good as with most other decently priced headphones but it’s still serviceable.

Safety is the biggest reason why you might opt for these, as they don’t go in your ears. I use these on my runs and I can hear most traffic and I don’t feel disconnected from whatever’s going on around me. Even for those who don’t go running, headphones like these might be an option just for walking around town, you can hear what’s going on around you and still be able to hear what’s being played through your headphones.

On the negative side the higher volumes are pretty unusable as they cause too much tickling in front of the ear and the volume up/down sound and other settings sounds are far too piercing and are no quieter when volume is turned down.

Very comfortable and clear sound and still hearing sound around you
I have really enjoyed them from the day I received them. I wear glasses and hearing aids so a lot going on around the ears. Because they don’t go into the ears but just go around to the front of the ear it works out fine. If you frequently take off and on your glasses can be fiddly. I use these to listen to pod casts, radio and news while walking the dog and can still listen to sounds around but obviously if you have them to loud you want hear ambient sound so clearly. If on 3/4 volume the will vibrate and becomes slightly uncomfortable. Very easy to connect to anything with Bluetooth and can connect to two devices. I sometimes forget I have them on. Take out the extra insurance if offered, our dog chewed them only had them for 4 weeks a lot of money to be damaged or lost/stolen.

Loving these headphones, amazing quality, answer all my needs and more!
2 days ago I didn’t know these type of headphones existed. I always have to faff putting earphone in and out when I have a lot of calls and people next to me also want to talk to me, or when I listen to podcasts walking the dog and passer-bys want to chat. I don’t like on-hears as they hurt my ears, and earbuds aren’t a great fit with my daith piercing. So these are perfect, I also feel safer because I can hear cyclists etc. I was expecting low tinny sound quality but I was amazed by the sound, it’s the same as my regular earphones (Mpows and Seinnheisers)! I tested on skype and everyone could hear me very clearly. Very faint noise leakage unless I blast the volume to max and even then, it’s more than reasonable. Also, the material feels great and they so light I literally forgot I was wearing them. Little bonus, the quality of the packaging is amazing. I am sooooooo happy with these, best ear/headphones yet for my needs!

    I love these but ....
This is my second pair. I had the original product for many years and they just broke. Although I like these new ones I do have a number of issues:
    1. When used for cycling or running, wind noise does reduce the effectiveness. Same issue in a gym with background music
    2. A pair of ear plugs is provided to overcome the above problem but I find it more effective to just slide the earpieces over my ears. It would have been nice if the ear plus were somehow integrated into the headset with the ability to swing them away when not needed
    3. Charging – understand why they’ve not gone for a micro USB but it’s just another cable to lose/forget. It’s about time the electronics industry standardised on these.
    4. Packaging – weighs more than the product and goes straight in the bin – so much for green credentials

    Superb for cycling use
I tried a friend’s bone-conduction phones 4 or 5 years ago and they were pretty useless for cycling, being readily drowned out by even light traffic, but these have really made the grade.
Not cheap, but they’re nicely designed to be dead simple to use, and the maximum volume is pretty good while allowing full awareness of everything in the real world around you. A lot of my cycling is on country and suburban roads, and I listen to podcasts while exercising: so far I’ve found the volume and clarity to be fine, although I only rarely cycle in town and usually don’t listen while I do, so I can’t comment on that aspect.
Straight away I found the best way to fit them around my helmet straps, and the headset fits OK under my balaclava which is often needed at this time of year. I’ve got quite a large head (7 3/4 hat size) and they fit fine.

Amazing headphones for exercise and convenience, don’t hesitate
Bought these when my Trekz Air started buzzing hugely when playing any significant bass two weeks after the 2 year warranty expired! I contacted the company about an out-of-warranty repair, but this is not something they offer – I imagine they just swap new for old during the warranty – however they offered a decent discount on a pair of Air, or a smaller discount on the Aeropex. I’d already bought this replacement pair, and with proof of purchase they refunded me though Amazon, which I think is pretty decent.

The Air had a good sound, the Aeropex are even better. I was properly impressed when I put them on – though of course they aren’t audiophile quality. The fit is slightly less good as the smaller, lighter ‘speakers’ either don’t grip your face so well, or don’t quite balance against the battery, but it’s pretty minor and I haven’t found it annoying when wearing them.

In short, I’d buy them again in preference to any other headphone. And if I could only afford the Airs I wouldn’t hesitate there either, despite the short lifetime they were incredibly useful for wearing during exercise and I got at least an hour’s use from them daily throughout that time. Be aware both styles are often discounted by 20-30% which makes them even better value.

    Expensive but worth i
After years of trying in ear pods for running I splashed out on these. 150 is a lot of money but in my case I do think it was worth it for two main reasons. First is that whichever size adapter I used on my in ear pods, inevitably at some stage on my run, they would fall out. As AfterShokz sit in front of the ear, this isn’t a worry.
The second reason I love these is because I suffer with tinnitus. In ear pods always made this much worse and I ended up only ever wearing the left pod as the tinnitus is worse in my right ear. After a run with in ear pods my tinnitus could be awful. As Aftershokz don’t sit in the ear, they don’t affect my tinnitus at all.
I’m not really a music ‘fan’ so I can’t comment of the music quality, just to say I have no complaints and can hear the music loud and clear when running. What I will say though is that the sound does still ‘mask’ background noise so I can’t hear if another runner is approaching me from behind.
Easy and great to use. If you are looking for a good set of bluetooth running headphones and can swallow the price, these are very good.

I never right reviews! And this ones for the guys struggling with wireless buds!

For the last year I have had issues with apples AirPod pros and have read multiple accounts with people having the same “itchy” issue. Which meant limited use. It has been soul destroying not enjoying my daily work out. And after search for an alternative I found AFTERSHOKZ

I got these yesterday and I was worried about the sound quality, volume, base mostly… and I am surprisingly shocked, I have to keep these at 50% volume because I can’t hear my colleagues talking to me two feet away.. and they headphones are not even near my ears.
The base is so much better than what I was expecting so for the value … compared to others like apples.. I couldn’t be happier.
Sound quality is great but the best part was adjusting so quickly, obviously these products vibrate, it took me an hour or two to not notice them anymore (they’re tiny btw, picture above! I have small hands lmao! And they still have space wen wearing them)
You guys should really have charged more for this product. #TheFutureOfHeadphones

    Love them! Ideal workout headphones
These a fantastic for workouts, running, cycling etc. They are super easy to put on, charge etc. The design means no worries about falling off or wires getting caught. I thought there might be less wind noise when cycling than normal in-ear buds but this is not the case. If anything it’s slightly more. However, I feel much safer being able to hear the road and surrounding noises more clearly with nothing in my ear.

Once familiar with them, the buttons are easy to operate when wearing but can be a little fiddly with full finger cycling gloves on.

The sound quality is fine. I wouldn’t expect them to be as good as a decent set of normal headphones, and they’re not. However, it is perfectly adequate and I’m certainly not complaining here.

The charge seems to last a good while- I can do a good number of runs or rides before thinking about needing to charge them again.

Overall easily the best headphones I’ve had for exercising with.

The best ever ... by light years
I’m in my mid- to late-70s and use headphones both out walking and around the house to listen to audiobooks—though occasionally music and news-feeds.
Previously I used largish, cushioned headphones indoors (easier to take on and off) and smaller, less bulky in-the-ear Jaybirds outdoors … and of course I always had to connect or disconnect one or the other on my iPhone.
All that is in the past … these are by far, by light-years, the best headphones I have ever had … I no longer have to swap when I come in or go out AND I can hear my wife when she comes into the kitchen to ask what I’m cooking.
Occasionally, when traffic is particularly close, it interferes but, as I always hear it approaching, all I do is cup the ear at that side for a few seconds and I hear every word of my book. I could use the earplugs supplies but have not had to yet.
Best thing I ever did was to buy these AfterShokz Aeroplex headphones … and there’s the obvious bonus in that the younger generation (anyone below 70) think I’m really trendy, in most cases trendier than they are. They’re right, of course.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOverall a good quality product but perhaps overpriced and expensively over packaged
I’m using this for cycling, the headphones sound is remarkable to say this is done through bone conduction, nothing goes into the ear which is kind of weird
The packaging is good but a little over designed
The package comes with a pouch to keep your headphones in when not in use and an AfterShokz bum bag (made of some flimsy looking plastic material) big enough to put a mobile phone into but not perhaps a phablet, and a set of foam ear plugs for noise cancellation
Personally I think that most of what comes with the headset is tat and how much this over packaging costs could have saved on the overall cost
The drive to cut down on plastic globally has been lost here
The funkiest feature is the magnetic charging cable which leaps to the headphones

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersA game changer for sure
I was skeptical regarding these headphones, I had done some research online about bone conduction and opinions varied regarding music quality etc.
I decided to push the boat out and go for the aeropex and I’m certainly glad I did. I find the sound quality excellent, for total base heads these would not cut the mustard but for people who like their tunes and not have the outside world totally blocked out they are great. They are also comfortable to wear and don’t bounce around when running, they stay in place exactly where they should. For phone calls they aren’t great in noisy environments, if there is a lot of road noise then being able to hear what is being said if a touch tricky and the person on the other end struggles to hear with lots of ambient noise but they work. The only downside is noise bleed, people around you can hear your music, not in a boom box way, but it is definitely audible at higher volumes.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExcellent for everyday use, cycling and workouts
Been wearing these almost non-stop for two weeks to make sure I really wanted them since they are not cheap.

    Pros:
1- I can do chores around the house but still be able to hear my kid if he needs me or easily stop to talk without taking them off.
    2- they are light
3- the sound is great! (For bone conduction) Im not interested in hearing every minute detail of a song, just need music and books to get me through these Covid days. I imagine they’d be great for office use.
    4- no ear fatigue
    5- Bluetooth connection is excellent
6- excellent for cycling- fits with helmet and glasses

    Cons-
1- slight pressure behind my right ear (easily fixed by placing headphone on top of my ponytail
2- if walking outside and traffic is super loud or wind is super loud- audio seems to fade and you have to turn volume up (however I didn’t find this to be the case when cycling)

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy favourite headphones
I’ve been cycling and running for the last 15 years without any headphones as I don’t like bulky units or stuffing my ears so that I can’t hear my surroundings, like traffic and road noise, plus some of the headphones I’ve been trying make extra wind-noise.

These headphones, however, don’t shut out the traffic sounds or road-noise, you can easily speak to someone around you with them playing and the sound is fairly good (8/10) I would say, they are easy to control and quick to connect to my phones Bluetooth, I’ve even been using them a lot as my main headphones when I go out for a walk or a quick run to the store.

(Battery charge) The battery lasts a long time and charge fairly quickly so (10/10) there.

(Noise cancellation) They won’t do much good on aeroplanes or on the underground/metro except if you use earplugs with them, then they work really well (tried & tested on London Underground), I guess that’s why there’s 1x set of earplugs in the pack 😉

Bottom line… I love these and don’t seem to leave home without them anymore.

    Does the job really well
Bought these specifically for use when riding my bike, so I can listen to music, navigation instructions as well as hearing cars, people and external noises. The do this job perfectly. Are so comfortable, I almost forget I have them on. I do not have any ‘tickle’ as some do.
The control button on the left node is a bit convoluted and doesn’t always do what it us meant to do, but once you get used to pushing the button 3 times for one thing and once or twice for the other it’s ok.
Battery life seems fantastic… I haven’t run out of power yet, so don’t actually know. Charging is very simple and the magnetic connector is very cool.
Music quality is ok – I don’t think you’d use these to specifically Listen to music as the mid-range is almost indiscernible and there is very little base to speak of. That said for audio books, podcasts et al these are just perfect.
The only negative for me, as someone who has a lot of devices is the convoluted way you need to Bluetooth connect to a device. You have to turn the headphones off, hold for 5 seconds then hope that the device you want picks it up. Sometimes if you have your iPhone and iPad in range the other will connect – annoying.
Apart from this relatively small annoyance these are great and I suspect the tech will improve over the years.

Well made and perfect for working out.
I decided to go for bone conducting phones as I run a lot and ear bud types are not accepted in most official UK races due to safety concerns. The sound quality of Aeropex is balanced and they are comfortable on a long run. Noise cancellation is irrelevant for these phones when listening as the whole point is to allow you to be aware of your surroundings, however, when ambient noise is low they perform like other phones but without having something stuck in your ears. When used for phone calls the microphones are noise cancelling. Bass is a bit light but I think if it was heavier it could get very tiresome hence my comment about balanced sound. My main criteria for purchase was a good fit so they didn’t need constant adjustment when working out, wireless connection which works well, and as mentioned previously they are accepted for use in official events. I didn’t know what to expect when buying them but I was pleasantly surprised and they certainly do the job that I wanted them to do. They are a bit pricey but they are well made and come with a silicone case with a magnetic catch, a waterproof running belt (which was unexpected but a nice touch) and some ear plugs that can be used to block out sound entering the ear via the eardrums so the effect is more like that from earbuds. There are also two charging cables so you also have a spare. These are magnetic and click into place when the polarity is correct. The other end terminates in a USB connector.

  68. AshleeQweoole says:

Great headset, disappointed with the bass.
I really like these headphones. The simple fact of not having anything in your ears means it’s not uncomfortable wearing them for long periods, with the addition of standard ear plugs you can decide when you want to block out the world. Walking in the street is great as you’re aware of your surroundings you can have a conversation without necessarily pausing the music. The bone conduction system is amazing and still works all around the ear (I wore them over the top of my head so I could lay on the couch listening. The controls work incredibly well, and don’t suffer from the need for teenage gamer like speed to skip and go back a track. They are so comfortable I forget I’m wearing them meaning I walk around looking like an extra from a low budget sci-fi movie.

My only gripe is the bass, there is a way to change the equaliser but it only has two settings and my older ears have a problem differentiating between the two. Using ear plugs adds more depth to the sound but at the cost of a muffled like sound. I’m not an audiophile so it’s not a big problem and the convenience of the bone conductor system outweighs any problem I have with some sound quality. Overall really pleased with my purchase.

    Started with a Headache
These started by giving me what i can only describe as a migraine… However i have used them a few times now and it would seem that my brain has adjusted. This was tested when i took them on an hour bike ride over 15 miles on Sunday. The sound quality for music is good, and i can fully hear everything going in a round me, important when on the road.

The sound quality for phone calls started very “tinny”, but has improved and have had a god few conversations when walking the dog.

I would recommend them, i needed something that was waterproof as my iPod Pros are not. They are comfy fitting, the battery is good, hooked up easy with the iPhone X Max, only thing is “Hey Siri” doesnt seem to work on them. Have only given one star on noise cancellation as if they cancelled the noise it would be daft as these are designed to hear other things at the same time.

These are witchcraft as i you can listen to music crystal clear AND hear the tv crystal clear at the exact same time.

Ride and listen without blocking what’s happening around you.
I use it for when I’m cycling on road. They fit around the front of the ear allowing for any noise to come through. I wear glasses and wear these and I don’t personally have a issue with these. I’ve used them in winter with a hat under my helmet while the heavy pours and I can personal confirm for myself I have had no issues with that.

Does what it needs to take phone calls and listen to something while I’m out and about but at the same time allowing me to listen to what’s happening around me.

Works with Siri as well. The only thing yo get used to is using the volume control if your phone isn’t in front of you. And pressing the button to activate Siri or whatever you use as a personal assistant on your phone.

Do not accept these to noise cancelling which they don’t. They will bleed whatever your listening to out if it’s loud. You get to hear what’s happening around you while your cycling without getting bored if your commuting to work or just out and about.

    Much better than I expected
As a runner, trying to find a suitable set of earphones that won’t fall out when running has always been a task of struggle and futility. I did find a 80% stable pair of bluetooth earphones from Anker, but they’ve been discontinued. I liked those earphones.

Looking ahead to a future marathon, I read that only bone conduction headphones (specifically AfterShokz) would be allowed. I previously watched lots of reviews, due largely to my reluctance to spend so much money on “earphones”. The reviews leaned me more towards the expensive end of the range rather than the more budget-friendly end.

So, I saved up, waiting for a sale, and bought these Aeropex.

I wasn’t expecting brilliant sound, and I didn’t think the way they sit so far from your head would make them stable. I also didn’t think the claimed 8 hours of battery life would be likely.

I was surprised on all three counts. The sound is easily as good as, if not better, than the earphones I’d previously been using. They sit perfectly still on my head – no bouncing around. And the battery life is crazy. I logged my runs since first charging the Aeropex. The first time they lasted about a fortnight, during which time I’d run for about 13 hours. The second time they didn’t seem to last quite as long, a little under 12 hours, but still well over the claimed 8 hours.

Needless to say, I’m pleased I bought these and wish I hadn’t hesitated to get them. For me, they really are the best running earphones/headphones I’ve ever used.

    Best Running Headphones
I have had a pair of Trekz Air for over 12 months, but managed to damage them whilst hedge trimming (don’t ask!).
I originally took the plunge and purchased those, which I use mainly for running, having broken so many wired pairs and spent lots on replacements. I was sceptical about the bone conducting technology but having made the purchase, I discovered that they work brilliantly and the sound and build quality is great. It’s true that if you want hi-fi sound, then these are not the best product, but for running, it means I can still hear what’s going on around me, and they are exactly what I need to keep me going. I listen mainly to music, but have used them for radio and podcasts too. I find that in-ear headphones fall out of my ears and don’t like the fact that you can hear your breathing and heart pumping; the Trekz product allows me to enjoy my music whilst not being in a ‘bubble’ from the outside world. The fit is great and I often forget they are on my head.

So… having broken my favourite headset, there really was no competition and I decided to purchase another pair of Trekz. I must admit to being swayed by the offer of improved sound quality from the Aeropex, and certainly, having only had them for a couple of days, I reckon it is better and gives a more enjoyable exeperience.
Would I recommend them? – Yes, definately, they are a great headset.

Sound quality not great compared to other 'normal' earphones but...
Sound quality not great compared to other ‘normal’ earphones but this is, apparently, as good as it gets for bone conduction headphones. Main problem for me is a tinny sound/lack of bass. This is despite experimenting with their position as much as is practical. Given it’s supposed to be an improved model I can only imagine what it was like in earlier models. Even 25 non-ear canal devices sound a lot better to me, and I’m not a ‘bass junkie’.

Having said all that, they really ARE good for jogging etc. as, as AfterShokz promote, they don’t fall off or out and you can hear what’s around you, even if they are somewhat drowned out by passing traffic. “Better safe than sorry” as they say, and I have some near misses with noise cancelling alternatives. I think my brain normalises the poor sound pretty quickly, actually, and by the middle of a run I’m thinking they do sound better than nothing – “ok’ish” given their benefits.

Perhaps the earplugs supplied would be better being “leaky” to allow most but not all external noise in?

So… a keeper for me on balance. Just.

These are my fourth pair of aftershoks of various models. I have some hearing loss and use the wired model for conference calls and phone calls. I use the wireless versions for working out either in the gym or at home , as I don’t want to get my hearing aids sweaty. These work really well, they are comfortable, have a great battery life and I get enough volume out of them for my needs ( so probably loud enough for anyone!). Couple of things , I know the Aeropex is waterproof which Is why there’s a proprietary charging cable ( two included in the box, nice touch) but I’m not dead keen on having yet another standard of cable connector, also bear in mind that eventually the battery performance will get worse. My first pair took over 4 years to get to a point where I needed to replace them though! All in all these are fantastic though , really work well would highly recommend

Great concept for outdoor use where you need to maintain awareness
After using my Aeropex daily since purchasing I would say they are a generally excellent product I would recommend to anyone who As someone that does not like in-ear headphones or larger over-ear ones when outside.

I have been interested in bone conduction technology for a number of years and AfterShokz in particular. I was fortunate to be able to borrow the previous model from a friend who uses them for running and based on their performance bought the latest Aeropex model for myself. Glad I did as they are a noticeable step up on the older technology. Sound quality is great and they make an ideal headset for calls as well as listening to music. There are only two caveats people should be aware of both related to the nature of the bone conduction technology.

First, bass levels are diminished compared to traditional in-ear or over-ear headphones so if deep bass is a deal breaker then these are not the headphone for you. Second, playback can be washed out by ambient noise because there is nothing blocking your ear canal… I see this as part of the appeal of the technology, that I am aware of my surroundings when listening to music during my commute to work or a run in the evening.

It is also worth noting the magnetic charging cable is a great addition over a standard USB plug and the battery life is an acceptable 5-6 hours of continuous playback. The unit is also rain proof (to a degree) and has survived the occasional downpour when I was caught without a coat or umbrella.

    Great for in the office
I purchased this headset as a replacement for my old Trekz Titanium. I loved that headset and my colleagues very quickly got used to the fact they could talk to me still while I was listening to my own music.
I had to replace it due to wear and tear, as it used to get chucked into my rucksack without any case to protect it.
Straight out the box these new Aeropex have a fantastic silicone rubber case, which although not rugged, is enough to make you think twice about how you put the headset away.
Sound quality is better than the Trekz Titanium, a little more bass, or warmth to the sound; that is not to say these are any comparison to standard headphones for tracks with heavy bass sound, but these aren’t designed with the audiophile in mind.
Personally I have found these are great for listening to quiet Classical music while I’m working, and I’m still able to hold conversations with colleagues; and also take business calls without having to pick up the phone, being able to use the computer whilst talking is a massive bonus.
Outside of work, these are very comfortable whilst running, and you can still hear everything going on around you.
I have found you get used to listening to music through these after only a short time; and you can crank up the volume plenty, unlike the old Trekz Titanium, you don’t get as much vibration from higher volume.

Like the old headset, you can use the multifunction button to voice dial for phone calls, and with an Android device you can use voice commands to select music in Spotify, I’d imagine other such commands work as well, but I’ve only used for Spotify so far.

To summarise, these are fantastic for listening to music whilst working in an office, round the house or when you’re out and about; but you are still aware of your surroundings and able to hold conversations with people.
You also have seamless transition from listening to music to making Phone calls.

    Very impressive
I don’t normally bother writing reviews but these headphones were so impressive I felt I had to! I have been jogging (in the city) for many years. I have never used headphones or buds, etc. because I felt uncomfortable not being able to hear people, cars and other city life around me. But these don’t go on or in your ear – I can hear that ambient noise and my music! The sound is excellent. They are very light. And my two kids were very impressed with how it works/looks. For me they are a game changer. I can now exercise whilst listening to podcasts or music if I want. However, i still love my Sony noise cancelling headphones for shutting out all noise in some scenarios (eg. train or plane). If you jog/exercise and want to listen to music I would really recommend them. Oh, forgot to mention the free bumbag that comes with it. It is well made and a good alternative to putting your phone and keys on an arm band.

So so so pleased I finally invested in these. The sound quality is superb considering it’s bone conduction and they really do allow you to hear everything that’s going on around you which is essential when running or cycling.

I also use them for work and the microphone is exceptional, great sound quality again.

The fit is comfortable, can easily wear them all day without noticing.

The controls are also superb. Reliable button presses for play, pause, rewind, fast forward, volume etc. make them extremely easy to deal with and leave your phone alone.

Recommending these to anyone that will listen!

My wife has the previous Trekz Mini version and compared to these the Aeropex are considerably slimmer and lighter. Having said that not sure there’s an 80 difference between the two as Trekz are still excelle

Excellent office, home and jogging headphones
Good: First of all I’d say comfort, they really fit well on my rather big head 🙂 also flawless contact when jogging. Great office headphones. Multipoint connection is brilliant I can listen to podcast from phone and use for PC tele-conferencing without reconnecting. Bluetooth headset phone operation for phone is flawless, great microphone noise cancellation too, useful battery check, ability to mute during call is great too, overall pretty good control functions. I am fine with sound quality which is better then I expected for open ear, the reported vibration in high volume is reproducible but not a problem I dont listen so loud anyway, with earplugs you get more conventional experience but the open-ear is the whole point of this headset, so you can interact with environment. Battery seems excellent get me through 12h of fairly frequent use at low volume.

Minor gripes: in multipoint loosing one of connections (walking away from computer brings in annoying alarm need power off/on to ignore), the beeps on key presses are too loud when wearing with earplugs

    Fit for purpose, purchase repeated.
I don’t often write reviews, but if like me you try to decide by wading through the pros and cons it can be difficult to decide whether to buy or not. So to help you I thought that I would give my opinion for a change. I bought mine for solo running, but I wanted to be connected to the outside world, I was willing to compromise a little on sound quality for safety. I was pleasantly surprised. Sound quality is better than I expected, just a little loss of bass. You still have to pay attention to the outside world, so pay attention to the volume setting. The real surprise, was how comfortable the headphones are, I have on occasion forgotten that I have them on. Battery life so far has not been an issue but I do like to keep everything charged and ready to go, no charging cable issues. No problems with pairing to iPhone or Mighty. I have worn them at the same time with sunglasse, again no issues. I haven’t used them with the ear plugs provided, this was not the point for me. The ear plugs may be useful on a windy day. I lent them to my wife………and have now had to purchase a second pair. The only negative was the lack of a sturdy case, which I have purchased separately. I don’t tend to touch the buttons whilst running, but can imagine that this may be difficult whilst on the move. All in all very satisfied.

    Great Headphones
I bought these headphones to use at the gym as I seem unable to find any that will stay in place and not fall out of my ears when working out. These stay in place, I think the sound is good but if you’re looking for for a brilliant audio experience, these aren’t for you as they do exactly what they’re made for; allow you to hear music/audio whilst being totally aware of the sounds in your surroundings. They don’t move when leaning down whilst I’m doing yoga but I do find that when I’m on my back, the neckband means that they move forward a little but I can still hear what I need to. I haven’t had them very long so I cannot comment on battery life yet. All in all great sports headphones but for the price, I would have thought the manufacturer would have included a hard case as the soft one will not prevent damage to the rather expensive headphones and they seem to be squashed into it. I have now purchased a hard case from a different manufacturer as I want to ensure my headphones last as long as possible without damage.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGreat running tech
If you’re a runner, you like music and can afford these, they are great.

After running a half marathon the other day with some normal noise isolation headphones, I decided that I wanted to change the way I ran with music. Don’t get me wrong, my soundbuds have done me well, but while you can cleanse your eardrums with loud music, you also totally drown out the sounds around you – cars, cheering, birds, my lungs.

I read a lot of reviews on these and tried out some earlier models from friends. I initially wasn’t impressed, but after trying out the latest model and watching too many YouTube vids, I took a punt on these and I’m super happy.

They’re lightweight, hold a decent charge and sound pretty good too. As they essentially turn the bone matter in your head into a speaker, you’re never going to get those deep bass notes, but the sound is decent. More importantly, they offer a great compromise for being able to enjoy my music and audiobooks while hear what’s going on around me. I’m really pleased that I forked out on these.

    Expect alot of orders Afershokz
I put the Aeropex on at a stand in a local shop and was blown away! I tried to order via the local shop but they couldnt get them in time for my christmas travel plans. I ordered them form Amazon and they came in 2 days!
Firstly they packaging really has that wow factor so if its a gift for someone they are going to love just opening them! The Aeropex themselves are fantastic, like nothing ive ever seen or heard before. I have always had problems with getting traditional earphones staying in my ears, especially when doing something active. ive tried them all even the ones that hang on your ear but they still pop out. not an issue with the Aeropex, they are sooo light and stay in place no matter what, some of my colleagues tried to head bag them off but were unsuccessful! I wore them all day and the battery was excellent. The sound quality too was fantastic. as they dont go into the ear canal i gave them to alot of my intrigued colleagues to try and they were blown away! Aftershokz, expect lots of orders from where i live and work lol
    Im delighted with them!

Excellent for what they were intended.
These headphones are superb. I gave them 5 stars for sound quality as well, because I knew what I bought. You cannot compare them to normal headphones and if you do, you should be looking at something else or you might need something else for a different use-case. For sound quality most mid priced or cheap in ear headphones would sound better, but for bone conduction headphones, they do sound much better than I expected.

They are really lite, they are loud enough to listen to my audio books to some loud areas, they have really good microphones and I have successfully used them for phone calls & meetings as well.

These headphones changed my life. I have quadrupled the number of Audiobooks that I listened to since I have bought them. You can actually forget them on your head. It’s like getting an implant. Press a button to talk to someone without reaching your phone, listen to audiobooks, podcasts and occasionally music.

Oh, and I forgot. I used them successfully while doing sports(really good grip, never felt they would come off), while taking a shower, etc.

    Know what you are getting
I have been a fan of Bone Conduction products since the very first generation of headphones. That being said for all newcomers to the experience here are a few things you should know before you decide to buy a pair.

    The good:
    1) They are super light and low profile when being worn. This makes them comfy for extended use.
    2) The battery lasts quite awhile.
    3) They are quite resistant to most forms of weather, ie rain, fog, heat, and cold.
    4) Bluetooth 5.0 makes them retain a signal quite well even if you are 5-10 meters form the audio source.
    5) They fit quite well on a variety of heads.
    6) The controls are good.
    7) Mic is clear and concise.
    8) Low sound bleed.

    The bad:
    1) A little pricey.
    2) Sound interference. (will elaborate below)
    3) Vibrations can be a bit uncomfortable at higher volumes. You will get used to it after awhile.
    4) Sound quality.

Sound quality. These headphones will never match up to IEMs. They will also lose out to some other headphones at this price point. The sound you hear can be with minimal bass as the interpretation of bass is a strong vibration which can feel quite uncomfortable the first time you experience it. That being said you are not getting these for the sound quality alone. The whole point is to be able to hear outside sources of sound while you are exercising or commuting through your day. For that they are excellent in what they provide. They beat out the Apple AirPods in this regard. Where you can have an imperfect fit with the AirPods the Aeropex fits like a glove and is way harder to lose. The sound quality it does have is also in my opinion better than the AirPods. AfterShokz also provide a pair of foam earbuds which was a nice touch if you ever want to block your ears.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersAeropex - the perfect sports headphones
I don’t often come back to Amazon to review my purchases, but I feel the world needs to know how good these headphones are!
I have been looking for a good pair of sports headphones for years. My main activities are running and cycling (road), and I’ve mostly used sporty versions of the normal in-ear type of headphones up to now. The main issues with them have been the headphones moving around, the poor sound quality, the wires being in the way, and particularly wind noise whilst cycling.
These Aeropex headphones solve all of the problems. They are properly light in weight – much lighter than I thought they would be. Once they’re on your head (see image), the weight is carried on top of yours ears, but it’s barely noticeable. The brace around the back doesn’t touch your head, (although I guess it might get in the way if you have long hair), it’s just there to add a little tension to hold the speakers to the side of your head. They’re very comfortable, and I’ve had no problems with any movement from them whilst running or cycling, even when wet (they are fully waterproof – you can apparently even use them for swimming, although I haven’t tried this!!).
The sound quality is great – again much better than I thought they would be. Because they use bone conduction technology the bass isn’t as good as in-ear headphones, but it’s definitely not as bad as some reviews (especially of the previous model) will have you believe. Once I start listening, I don’t notice the lack of bass any more. Also worth mentioning that I think the sound quality actually improves with a little perspiration during exercise, as it seems to improve the contact/seal between the face of the speaker and your skin.
Battery life is also amazing. They are genuinely good for many hours of listening between charges – at least what they claim, if not more. Not sure if this will deteriorate over time – will have to see…
Finally, the best thing is that these are an open-ear design, so you can hear the world around you. Perfect for cycling – much reduced wind noise versus in ear headphones, and can hear traffic as well as if you werent using headphones at all.
Very durable, and come with a nice rubber pouch to protect them when you throw them in your gym bag. In short, I can’t recommend them enough. Worth every penny in my opinion.

Great for cycle commute + podcas
The primary use case for these is for commute. I cycle 30 mins to/from works. Mostly quiet roads and a trail by a river. So that’s about 4hrs a week. I also struggle to find time to listen to my podcast subscriptions. Hence the purchase. These are great for this whilst staying aware of traffic.
You’ve probably read mixed reviews about audio quality for music. If you are into blues and folk then they sound great e.g Eric Bibb really enjoyable to listen to. If you are into rock/pop/dance then they sound poor imho. Bass and treble are not its strong point but middle range is awesome. Others have mentioned the ear tickle you get at max volume, yeh its a thing. What may concern for some is that these earphone’s max volume is drowned by heavy traffic e.g you won’t here much on a dual carriageway or when cycling faster than 25mph (wind noise). Also you probably won’t be heard on a call if cycling more than 10mph (microphone wind noise). Some of the above may seem negative, but for me these are near perfect. Solid bluetooth, good battery. I’ve got a big head btw and they fit fine.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI wear them in bed, in the bath, and the Jacuzzi...
I am an audio-bibliophile. I suffer from anxiety and listen to audiobooks to drift off. I also have partial hearing loss in my right ear due to a perforated eardrum.

Comfort: So, I don’t exercise with these headphones, I use them to relax. Sleeping in earbuds can be painful, but these sit outside the ears and are very flat. They don’t dislodge or shift around when I toss and turn. I forget I’m even wearing them. They are exceptionally light and robustly made.

Sound: It’s not great for music. They don’t have the full rich sound of earbuds unless you also wear earplugs, then they are comparable. Without noise isolation, the sound is a bit tinnie. As I use them primarily for audiobooks and TV this doesn’t matter. Having only partial hearing, they bypass the eardrum and for the first time in a year, I have even stereo sound.

I can hear the rest of the world around me (I have to, I’m a mom), which is the point. But, personally, I can’t have them on and hold a conversation with someone else at the same time. And the sound level all the way up does not drown out my partner’s snoring (sorry Dave.)

Battery: Says 8 hours but I have worn them two 8 hour nights in a row before having to recharge. They are really excellent and I have been wearing them every night for a couple of months now and the battery life is the same.

Waterproof: I have worn these in the bath and submerged my head several times. There is a millisecond blip when the charging contacts touch the water but that’s it. They sound even clearer underwater.

Ultimately, they look almost like Gelfling “princess” circlets so there may be an incident with some gold paint and cosplay in the future.

I’ve been looking for the perfect “sports” headphones for years and I think I’ve found them! I don’t get on with in ear bud type, there is always a risk they will fall out after a while when you get “sweaty” I’m not a runner as I have replacement knees but I hike a lot and have just started cycling, the last time I went out with in ear buds which were not meant to cancel out all of the noise, I could not hear traffic and felt unsafe. I cycled 35 miles yesterday with these Aeropex on and I can only say…absolutely fantastic! The only time I couldn’t hear music was going down hill at 35 mph with wind noise but that is only for 30 sec or so! I’m looking forward to my speed walk at the next Park Run where it’s always useful to hear the faster runners coming. In October I will be hiking with my family so will be able to listen to music and chat! I do like the fact that these headphones are waterproof as I’m often out in the rain. Yes they are expensive, but money well spent 🙂 Just waiting for the blue ones to be in stock so I can get a pair for my wife.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersEverything that Aftershokz suggest. They are that good, without the "for bone conduction" excuse.
I’ve had a pair of Trekz Titanium for over 3 years, and love them. But divorce left my wife with the house and my daughter with the Trekz Titaniums so I was back in the market for open headphones and saw the claims made by these – you know, even lighter, even more comfy, even better sound, even longer battery life, even less sound bleed, less vibration – so I thought I’d give them a try. However, I’m cynical by nature and by profession so I fully expected to return these and get another pair of Trekz Titaniums for half the price.

    Then I tried them.

They are not going to be returned.

The Aeropex are everything Aftershokz say they are, and more. The ultimate audio quality isn’t up to a decent pair of closed cup over-ears but it’s blooming good, and the rest of it is peerless.

No need to sacrifice a ride
Riding a mountain or gravel bike in the countryside is always a pleasure, but when I wanted to have a training ride always felt that I had to sacrifice something if I was to train hard yet still be aware of things going on around me. Earplugs would isolate me from my surroundings so that the only thing I’d be aware of was my heartrate and the music.
Wearing the Aftershokz I can now hear the birds sing in the trees, or a river running down the side of the track. Importantly I can hear how the bike is moving beneath me, and best of all I can say hi to anyone else I meet in the countryside without them realising that I’m listening to my music.
The sound quality is good and I have never felt the need to have the volume high in order to be able to focus on the music. The headphones just sit there without the need to adjust them. For me they’ve been a great investment that will keep me motivated when perhaps I wouldn’t have wanted train quite as much.

Work well for most of what you’d want them for.
My first foray into bone conducting headphones, and i’m quite pleased.
The sound has come a long way since I tried out a friends set of aftershocks several years ago. That could be down to advances in Bluetooth, but it could just as easily be down to updates the the BC technology.
They will never be bass rich, but realistically I don’t want booming bass when i’m wearing these (usually on my bike), it would totally defeat the object of them by making outside noises difficult to hear.
On the whole they are quite comfortable. I’ve only experienced some mild discomfort once, Sympathy for the devil by the stones came on shuffle and the right hand side felt like it was tapping the side of my head. It’s repeatable so is likely down to the specific beat and frequencies of that track.
The one thing I have been disappointed with is the mic, I’ve made a couple of test calls to my voicemail and I’m hardly audible at all.
So, if you want these for listening to stuff without impacting your awareness of what’s going on around you, then they are just the ticket, if you want to make regular calls with them, then i’d be prepared to switch to our handset.

    Great running headphones.
The headphones are a minor technological miracle. You’ll swear that you are hearing with your ears, but you are just fooling yourself. Now sound quality is good, but don’t expect the perfection of some expensive over-ear headphones, it just can’t work like that, but then these are for when you are running (or playing with your Bicycle if that’s what you are into), so the noise of the world will always outweigh and lack of perfection in the reproduction anyway.
The fit and comfort level is by far the best of any sports headphones I have ever had, they are extremely light and stay securely on you head regardless of what you are doing (Unless you are Sky Driving perhaps?).
Sources with a lot of bass, including spoken word audio books can sometimes “tickle” your face where the conductors are, but it is very slight and you just learn to ignore it.
In summary, these may be a little pricey, but they are well worth the cash if you are a runner of any kind or do one of those other sports that I’ve heard of like caber tossing, three-legged race, egg and spoon racing or sack racing. Maybe even cycling?

Golden Review Award: 105 From Our UsersSuper Headphones! A Must for Anyone with ITC Hearing Aids!
These headphones are absolutely superb! Best thing ever for someone like me. I have hearing loss & have worn hearing aids since childhood. For the past 15 yrs I’ve tiny worn in-the-ear hearing aids which means whenever I want to use headphones I have to take my hearing aids out. When I use in-the-ear phones/pods, I must remove my hearing aids & even with large on the ear headphones I find the sound quality better without my hearing aids. I have heard of these bone conduction headphones before & generally reviews are poor sound quality & very expensive. Recently I came across these AfterShokz & decided to give them a try. I must say I find them incredible & its an absolute must have for someone like me with hearing aids. The headphones fit from behind over top of the ears with the bone/vibration pads in front of the ears. Setting up & using the headphones is pretty standard like any bluetooth headphones. The sound comes from the vibrating pads & I find the quality just as good as any decent quality headphones. But with my hearing! Perhaps I don’t know what ‘Quality Audio’ sound is? When using them for the very first time, it can be a bit strange, as I can hear music from the headphones & also hear everything around me. The pads vibrate which feels weird but soon get used to it. The vibration becomes stronger when turning up the volume & at maximum it is too loud & strong vibration for me. I keep them around 50% – 60% level. The headphones are completely sealed with IP67 water resistance, however I don’t think I will be swimming with them. The charging connector is magnetic (like on MacBooks) & comes with 2 charging cables. For me I am finding these bone conduction headphones a life changing experience. I only wish I got them sooner!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersExpensive but worth it to me.
First off. These are not my first pair of Aftershokz. They are my 5th 🙂 My first purchase was Trekz, through the original Kickstarter campaign, and I’ve loved them since. For various reasons, I keep two pairs going, one in the home and one for running and cycling. I have a pair of Trekz at home right now and will keep these new Aeropex in my bag ready for a run.
I love these headphones. they are so much more comfortable than the Trekz, and unfortunately I can’t speak to the attributes of the Trekz Air as I have never owned them.
The Aeropex fit perfectly around the ear and are so light that you wouldn’t notice them there. Comfortable with sunglasses and/or a cycle helmet. Paired with a Garmin Fenix 5 Plus is no trouble so far. I will update after more frequent use.
On a side-note I have had occasion to use Aftershokz customer services before and I found them nothing but helpful. Kudos for that.

Golden Review Award: 122 From Our UsersWow - What an improvement!!
Where do I start. I have been using Aftershokz headphones for some time now after running with normal in ear headphones and nearly not hearing a car and nearly ending under it along a country lane so I carried out some research and found this company.
I thought the Air model was good and enjoyed them for my running, working out in the gym cardio or weights and now the cycle ride to work.
The new Aero model is far far superior then the Air, the sound is much clearer and sounds more meaty. Plus the base has been improved, which is great as when training I always listen to Spotify Run N Base 170-175 BPM and the Aero’s make the play list sound great.
Like others reviews on here I even forget I still have these on due to there light weight and even walked into the shower with them on, thankfully they are IP67 so after a oh crap moment I then relaxed remembering IP67 .
I’m waiting for the other colours to come out and I’ll be buying my wife a pair now for when she hits the gym.
Overall these headphones are Fantastic and they do last the 8 hours, I made sure I didnt charge to find out.
Everyone I show these headphones to there reply is mostly WOW Amazing, these are from others who are using all different brands from airpods, bose etc.
They are the make and model and are going to look into them so just me showing people how great they are I reckon 10 friends and people in the gym have gone and ordered them and others added to their birthday or christmas wish list!
Well done Aftershokz keep up the good work!!

Golden Review Award: 38 From Our UsersI didn’t ask for better, but I got it anyway.
I’m a long term aftershokz user. I’ve had the wired versions, to the titanium, air and now aeropex. Honestly I was happy with the upgrades from titanium to air. I felt like they added some valuable alternative features that allowed for great sound quality, long battery life, at a comfortable lightweight size. I figured that was it. No updates right? I was shocked to here they had now created the Aeropex with smaller footprint competitive battery life and improved sound. I’ve had various other Bone conduction headsets, and bone conduction sunglasses. I guarantee you, there is no better than this. I’m still trying to figure out how they managed to decrease the size, but improve the bass and overall volume and sound quality. the only unfortunate trade off this time is the switch from micro-USB for charging to a new proprietary cable type. I think this was likely a concession made so that they could fit more inside the small space, instead of giving up space to a micro usb connector. Honestly, it’s worth it. I’ll just have to stock up on cables just in case.

I highly recommended this. I cant recommend it higher. Maybe you just want to listen to music at work but still hear your surrondings. Maybe you have kids and you want to listen to podcasts while you pay attention to them. Maybe you’re into sports and you want a lightweight solution that also lets you stay safe and hear your surroundings. It fits all of those. I use these more than my various headphones because I often forget the aftershokz are still on. Walk through life with your own personal soundtrack. It’s a weird sensation to hear the world and music at the same time, but it’s a worthwhile experience. My only hopes now are that aftershokz will master the bone conduction sunglass headset game.

Golden Review Award: 43 From Our UsersOngoing review: Currently loving this headset!
    UPDATE 22/7/19:
2 weeks into the hottest marathon training season I’ve ever coached, and this headset is still performing flawlessly! My group has been running in temperatures ranging from 31C to 36C (which typically feels like 39C to 42C due to humidity), and despite sweating so much that we all look like we just jumped in a swimming pool, my Aeropex has continued to work perfectly! I’m very surprised it’s still not available to purchase within the US, but glad I took the chance and purchased it from Amazon’s UK storefront.

    UPDATE 3/7/19:
I’ve used these on 7 super sweaty summer runs so far and they’re holding up great! By this point my Titanium headset would’ve fried. I’ve made sure the headset is completely dry each time I’ve charged it so far, so I’ve not tested the moisture warning system to know how it works. I honestly don’t intend to test this feature though if I can avoid it.

    ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I’ll be updating this review over the next month or so as needed, but currently I’ll say this is the best headset Aftershokz has made to date. I’m a marathon runner/coach and I tend to sweat a lot during training and races. Aftershokz has replaced my Trekz Air five times now due to sweat damage, so when they announced a fully waterproof headset, I was very intrigued. I’ve run with my Aeropex once so far and I performed flawlessly. The general design looks much more waterproof than previous models, as the only hole visible in the body is the microphone. The switch to a magnetic charging connection is probably the best improvement, as it eliminates the the easiest way to short out the Air or Titanium headsets. I also give Aftershokz a ton of credit for sending 2 charging cables, since it’s a proprietary connection that you can’t easily buy outside of contacting their support team. I assume replacement cables will also be available on their storefront eventually, but that is currently not the case.

TL/DR: The Aeropex is a full improvement in all aspects over their previous Bluetooth models. I’m looking forward to hopefully updating this review with good performance reports over the next month as a break it in properly during my upcoming training season.

Golden Review Award: 22 From Our UsersLight, comfortable and impressed with the sound quality
Been using this product for a couple of days now. Really impressed. They are very comfortable and I had them on all day on Sunday and forgot I was wearing them. They are really light. I have been using on my 10 mile cycle commute and also whilst walking the dog. On the bike the sound isn’t intrusive, in heavy fast traffic with high winds, the sound of the music does drop off. But that is the idea of the headphones, I want to hear the traffic over the headphones. They fit with my helmet and glasses as well At lower volume levels while walking the dog they are also good.
Used them in the wet, with no problems.
Sound quality is really good, not as good as over the ear headphones, but this is due to the ear still being able to hear outside noise (which is kid of the idea)
    Would recommend.

Golden Review Award: 154 From Our UsersVery impressed with my now favourite headphones
After hearing a friends AfterShokz Air, I was impressed and decided that I needed to get these to try for myself.

I am not their main target customer. I use these in the office primarily with the intended occasional bike ride at the weekends (still yet to try this). I wanted to be able to listen to music but still hear the conversations going on around me in case I need to join in, or simply if someone wants to ask me a question and they can just say my name without doing a wavy dance to try and get my attention. For this they work exactly as intended.

I also take several calls throughout the day and the quality is excellent. I can hear people loud and clear and I have been told that I come across very clear with the quality on par with most headsets. Watching films seems to have audio in sync and sounds great.

I also have these connected to my laptop at the same time and can seamlessly switch between my phone and laptop.

Battery wise I am still amazed. I have not timed it yet myself, but I have no issues getting through a full day of music listening and calls with the odd pauses throughout the day.

Comfort is really really good and most of the time I forget that I am actually wearing them. I do have the music at a normal volume (not so loud that I cant hear my surroundings) so the vibrations into my jaw are not too harsh which I think also helps with reducing fatigue. But I pretty much have this on my head for a solid 10 hours to put it into perspective.

Sound quality is going to be very subjective. They are not your normal headphones and therefore will not be as good BUT they are far from average. Yes the bass response is not as good but Im not listening to loud heavy dance tracks and for the most part I forget that the bass is lacking. Music still sounds nicely rounded and pleasant to listen to.

If I was to find fault it would be with the vibrations on louder volumes. It cant really be helped, but the vibrations are a weird sensation and fatigue does set in much quicker. There is also a confirmation beep for things like volume up which is unnecessarily loud and makes me want to use my phone volume instead of the headset buttons.

Other than that I couldn’t recommend enough if the use case fits you.

    —update—-
Tried these on a ride and work exactly as you would expect. The helmet straps aren’t an issue and the rear band sits low enough to not interfere with the rear helmet strap (at least on my normal helmet)

Still very happy and they have been glued to my head all day everyday at the moment.
